SG once called Yogi’s selection as CM “the biggest blunder by Modi, even bigger than demonetization”. To be fair to SG, many others, including me, thought so too as his image was that of a radical right wing Hindu monk with regressive ideas and not a development man.
Yogi’s complete image transformation (even under someone like Modi who hogs all the limelight) is nothing short of a miracle. Goes to show you the thirst people have for energetic, no-nonsense, non-corrupt, development-focused leaders/politics.

The global news agencies will push back harder than ever before, since they failed against Modi. It's this fight that will determine who succeeds Modi.

Gorakhpur monks are different from usual hindu monks who stay away from politics. There are many Yogis who dedicate their lives to society, so why not them being in the politics after all. India needs more Yogis who can continue to transform politics. Also, this analyst says BJP picks weak CM candidates. That is so wrong. There are many heavy weights who are already serving in the central governments, and few CMs who are quite strong. BJP ecosystem always focusses on next generation leadership, so we will see many more heavy weight candidates propping up

Both his two massive expressways were constructed during his first tenure. The major policy changes that he carried due to which UP climbed to top two in the ranking of states in "ease of doing business" was also during his first tenure. There is a lot I can point out. Same will hold true about whoever among the new BJP leaders will take the place of Modi when he decides to retire.

I am from Delhi. In 2011, one of my friends at work who was from Gorakhpur was talking to me about Hindu Muslim relations in UP in general but Gorakhpur in particular. The conversation went back to Babri masjid and the following riots and he told me, and I paraphrase “Wahaan Yogi ji the. Kuch logo ne koshish ki, kohish karte hi rok diya Yogi ji ne. Sambhaal liya tha sab, aur ab tak sambhaala hua hai. Dekh lena, Gorakhpur aur riots do shabd hain jo fir se saath mein kabhi nahi aayenge”. How prophetic his words were. Not just in Gorakhpur, almost the entire UP is now free of any riots under Yogi ji. Pranaam to Yogi ji and people of Gorakhpur who supported him.

Look.. UP needed a cult figure leader like Maha Rana Pratap or Shivaji Maharaj.. and they hv got it in Yogi Adityanath. UP was the hot bed of sleeper cell islamic terrorism, zihadism, and mafia capital.. and the kind of CM' s it was ruled by from post 90's made it even more susceptible to these elements with the support of the ruling state govt like the Yadav's.. Yogi ji came as a breath of fresh air to blow off these stinks from UP. And to tell you he is the next PM candidate of india, and very desirably so.. India needs leaders like Yogi Adityanath ji..
