Being from south India, now I understand why there is huge vote base for yogi.
UP, Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and West Bengal are the worst states in this country.
Most crimes, political violence and corruption happens in these states.
Rest of India may not be utopia, but at least people can live in peace with low crimes. And an ok governance.
These states were epicenter of socialist governments.
Yogi have done a surgical strike on crime here, pretty much swept all the major Don and gangsters, common people was fed up of crimes, hence yogi is favorite here.

In Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karanataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Chattisgarh etc. you will find that crime rates are manageable. Most people can get by with their lives with very less violence and crimes.
On the contrary, in Delhi, west UP, Haryana, there won't be a single day without any murder or kidnapping or rape or road rage or violence or honour killing.
It is sad but it is pretty much the reality in these places.
Being someone from the same LS Constituency Phulpur in Allahabad, from the same Police Station area & seen both the killings of Raju Pal in 2005 & recent Umesh Pal now with 1 km from my house... I can vouch for what the terror reign & political clout Atiq Ahmed & his men had in our city during those times of 90s till late 2000s. Arrival of Namo in national politics & Yogiji in UP is like breath of fresh air & change from daily routines of Murders, killings, rapping, extortion & kidnapping. Yogiji is transforming UP for good.
Then why did your people vote for these types ? No, wonder UP/Bihar is trash, first your people vote for them then they say our state is run by criminals, no jobs, no industry, no education.
Glad Yogi ji came to power now, but I fear these stupid Bhaiyas will again vote for SP next election for some freebies and bring back jungle raj.

I lived in prayagraj or then allahabad for a few years. This guy was the undisputed mafia don of the city. Yogi should clean this up. There is unfortunately no other way apart from an encounter. Judges fear for their lives and will not sentence him.
He has just been sentenced to life in prison in this case.

I was resident of Eastern UP in 80s and 90s and a frequent visitor ...The biggest change brought by Yogi Govt has been the sense of security to common residents .This is enough to bring this givt to power. When I was studying , I used to live there and there was huge case , a man if I recall properly was Rizwan Ahmad and he was atiq Ahmed man and he grabbed a huge land near a famous road illegally . The land belonged to a Yadav family and three men got murdered by Rizwan men . I was there when one of the three Yadav murder had happened and believe me it was horrendous . Body was mutilated and murderer got away because of political backing of Samajwadi party .
So where is judiciary or Supreme Court then against murderers? Imagine a single Muslim killed by a Hindu.

My biggest fear of our judiciary came true today - "People waiting for justice keep waiting and waiting and one day that are going to take matters in their own hand". Very important for courts to close out cases in reasonable time. Make use of out of court settles on civil case reduce the backlogs.
Being from Kerala, these are strange stories! And now I got how Yogi was back up in 2nd term.
Its amazing how well this episode was done. I was able to follow it every step of the way and that is to be appreciated seeing how complex and cluttered the whole thing was.

While I tried to listen to this video with interest and empathy to understand how UP politics works, my gut felt sick by the minute on the kind of politics we are discussing instead of things like industrial history, social impact of policy, economics, art, sport and science.
It's good that Yogi seems to be closing the chapter on this kind of feudal mafioso politics but I hope people in UP promise themselves and rest of the nation that never again shall these kinds of stories characterize them or their politics.

I was afraid today's episode would be about criminal defamation and Rahul Gandhi's disqualification. I am glad that wasn't the case.
Shekharji's silence on RaGa's disqualification is quite telling. I think he is tired of repeating the same thing again and again about the Congress imploding because of it's sycophancy. I encourage everyone to look back at his 2019 elections speech at CPR and compare that to the Congress today and it is evident how little the Congress has improved.

This is not about Congress. It is about using technicalities of laws to remove opponents off the picture, which Indian political parties have been doing for ages. This issue deserved a 'national interest', if not a cut the clutter. I'm disappointed that he didn't cover it.
What is there to discuss in Congress case, it's an open and shut case Court gave them 30 days time to appeal but they are busy in political milking of it.
1. Only in case of the Stay of Conviction not by suspension of sentence disqualification can be prevented it is for appeal in the higher court but congress is busy political milking of the issue
2. Disqualification is automatic from the time of conviction in Sec 3. of RPA 1951, Secretary General just issues a notification to mention it in the official Gazette.
3. That's why Man Mohan Singh wanted to bring an Ordinance to give legislative members 3 month relief which Mr. RG Tore in the parliament.
