    I use a HP Chromebook 11 and it is exactly what I need. Very durable, smallish, very quick on browser and Google suite. The screen resolution is poor, but that is unimportant. The price is the kicker: $130! Such a great tool.

      Please don’t buy a chrome book you shouldn’t buy a product that one of its main selling points is likely a lie and plus if you just need a good cheap and sort of fast laptop just buy a windows pc a lot of chrome books still use processors made before 2010 and as a result are incredibly slow to run for example my school gives them out to us and they are brand new and still use intel atom which was made in 2008 and they can take a full 4 mins to turn on

But now I like to have less on my phone and have somthing slightly bigger I can pick up on the evenings when kids are in bed or any other alone time I get. Looked in to a tablet and bought a Samsung was vary diserpointed and found out latter that many buy I Pad for a reason there just that good. Problem I have is I have a android phone and like phone and laptop to work tougher also want something light portable and easy so I can carry around if needed. My us is mostly social media and streaming Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime est.... also browsing Internet so was thinking a cromebook do you think this be suitable? Sorry for the extreme long explanation not gold at keeping it short that is just another reason for a laptop a keyboard may be better Hehe have a great day.

    I'm a teacher that's been doing remote learning with live instruction. My work laptop is a Chromebook while my personal computer is a Dell Inspirion laptop. The Chromebook using google meet with live instruction sucks. It doesn't have enough ram or processor speed to multitask between different activities during live instruction- opening multiple worksheets, typing examples on docs and slides during a presentations, and bouncing between tabs. However, using my Windows laptop during live instruction makes live instruction online a lot easier- it can multitask better, I create content to provide examples for students on the fly during live instruction, and it runs faster underload. If you trying to do real work and not simply word processing or web browsing get a full laptop.

    Looking for cheap, good display (1080 or better) for culling/reviewing photos and videos while traveling. Currently considering Lenovo Duet for about $250, got any better ideas? Also, which software would be best for this- not really intending to edit photos or videos, do that when get home, but just triage I think you might call it, culling redundant or bad photos and videos. updates tend to be up to 5 years, so I wouldn't buy a used chromebook..I found one I love for just $329 new...have had it for over a year now and love it. Asus C425 clamshell, I also like the Acer chromebook 314, Intel Celeron N4000, 14" Full HD Display, 4GB LPDDR4, 64GB eMMC, Gigabit WiFi,
      just $279 now on amazon. Has 64g storage but you can add 128g SD card. They last 5 years so it's a great deal and those two are better models than others I've had in the past.
      do research with videos, etc when you see specs you like. The two I mentioned I love both.

    The main issue I have with school issued chromebooks is that I use Firefox, and they blocked that browser, and I wouldn't be able to put my passwords onto there, and it doesn't run the photo editing apps that I would need. I'd say the better option would be an ipad air or pro with a keyboard. It can run more apps, it's just you can't run 3rd party apps. Windows is the best option, but the laptop I use is big and heavy, and has a 1.5-2h battery, so I resort to leaving it plugged in(Yes, it's a gaming laptop)

    • @water8097
      @water8097 3 года назад +4

      Depends on what you actually want to stream, your chromebook specs and your internet.
      I'll just assume you wanna steam Chrome. If you only have 4GB of RAM I would say that your stream would likely be pretty crappy. 8GB+ of RAM should be ok, and you can just check how fast your own internet is. I would have to say 30Mbps+ would be ok. You could also use ethernet if you want a faster connection.

    I saw on another YT video a lot of complaints about Chrome Books being under powered. I also noticed that the largest disk space I could see was 128GB, the size of one of my memory sticks. Also on the spec, Chrome books had 4MB RAM compared to my Windows laptop of 8MB RAM. Does that mean that they are under powered, or am I missing something?

    • @peterbreis5407
      @peterbreis5407 2 года назад

      Windows requires 8gb to run comfortably because it is a memory/hardware hog. The extra RAM won't do much for you. All the extra software you will need to rent or buy to make a Windows laptop useful, should be factored in as well.
      Get a Chromebook with multiple USB C ports and use flash drives to expand your storage. I have 256 Gb USB C flash drives I bought for US$26.
      Most Chromebooks are cheap and basic. I wouldn't use them as a main computer but for light portable usage they are good, especially the 2-in--1 tablet/keyboard combos. Don't get an expensive Chromebook, they don't make sense because the software doesn't match the price.

    • @Stickings90
      @Stickings90 2 года назад

      @@peterbreis5407 The flash drives here in the UK use the normal style USB plug, not USB C. This is why I dislike Mac books, as they got rid of the normal USB ports in favour of USB C and then charge a lot for adaptors.

      There is no ChromeOS version of the MS Office suite. You can run the Android apps of MS Office or use the web-based version. These are typically a bit limited than the standard desktop versions but should be good enough for most typical use cases.
