Apologies. I've just came across this. I used to dislike learning 'When the battles ow'er' when I was younger and learning the pipes. But hearing it played here has given me an appreciation of it now. It's played at a better tempo than on other recordings. The piper is excellent. I hope is still with us and still playing the pipes.
The version of this on the CD "Best of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra" is slightly shorter: 5 mins 10 secs instead of 5 mins 42 seconds. As a result, it has a bit more punch (most of the intro is omitted). But TY for uploading this :)
As far as I can tell, the tunes are as follows 0:00 When the Battle is O'er 1:08 The Heroes of Vittoria 2:09 The Battle of the Somme 3:10 The Crags of Tumbledown Mountain 4:29 - I can't name this tune but I definitely know it. It's really bugging me, can anyone help?
