I was (and I am) into programmed trapish drums. But i got myself a decent drumpad and software to get into real time fingerdrumming in the next few years. Maybe I gain enough skill to play along to my melodies and record some sweet unquantized acoustic drums if I like to. 🙏
@@NavieD True. I used the keyboard before to see if I like "drumming" at all.. But there are some limitations, at least for me. I like a kind of "piano weighted" keybed on my keyboard, what makes it even harder to play fast drum fills etc. on it. (Tbh for my low level the keyboared was sufficient.) ;-) But it was way harder to get my head around playing hi-hats, kick an snaredrum at variable speeds with my keyboard. Could be just me. With years of pad training, crazy stuff is possible. Example: Basket Case (@170 BPM) - insane... -> ruclips.net/video/8rzd99SCxVc/видео.html
It was just really good to see your understanding of music theory. Really cool to see the process of you creating a drum loop by dissecting it form other samples .
Thank you. Clear, understandable information plus some creative ideas, that makes me wanna try something completely different or new - each time. True quality as usual. I bet: This channel will be a big player in the YT tutorial and creativity game in the not so distant future. 👌 🙏
It depends a lot on what melodies you are used to making. If you make chordal trap in a specific scale, you'll want to keep adding notes in the scale after the 3rd note in the chord. That's how you get rich sounding 7th and 11th chords. Just shift the octaves of the notes after to change the vibe of each chord. That's the best advice I can give you other than music theory/jazz theory stuff. After that it's just humanizing, strumming, and randomize the velocity.
after a few years of watching videos on beat making and not learning anything this was the worst 😂😅😂😜 just Kidding this was great Navie awesome work you showed me a few new techniques thank you so much!!!
Have you considered doing a breakdown of the sweet dreams beat you made for Joey Badass? That beat has mesmerized me since i heard it and easily one of my favorite joey songs ever
Sorry if you don‘t see me on the streams but I‘ll just get into 11th class here in Germany and I‘m preparing as much as I can. Will be back soon my brother and nice vid like always between!👌🏻👍🏻
Always great stuff, man! Question...when you brought up the slices on the piano roll to find where the kicks were, how did you do that? Just starting out and pretty much clueless.
So that was after I dragged the drum loop inside of Fruity Slicer. Fruity Slicer basically chopped up the drum sounds and put them on separate piano roll notes for me. Then I went slice by slice to hear which ones were kicks, and once I found them, I held Ctrl+Shift on the piano roll notes to select all of them one by one.
Navie D. Dude! When I left the comment I honestly thought the chances of a reply were slim or if I got one that it would take some time. Can’t thank you enough! Been watching your videos for a few weeks now and they’ve been a great help. Keep doing everything the way you are. You’re a true professional!
Loved the guides but it seems that you are going for the trap music content heavily. Can you actually make a video about how you made the My Friend Pedro's musics ? I am pretty sure there are some others like me that don't listen trap that much and found you from the game. I would love to learn how you made that Gifgang or Cave Crawl basses and such!
Hey thanks for reaching out man. Yeah it's tough, I know there is a smaller group of people that are here cuz of MFP. But honestly, hip hop is more wheelhouse; that was actually my first time making electronic/dance music when I did the MFP stuff. I am not sure whether I feel comfortable giving advice about a genre I know so little about.
Dope stuff as usual mate. 👌 a non-related question: which synth/vst would you recommend for spacey/airy/vibey sounds like chimes, bells, cool pads and stuff? Apart from sakura i struggle a bit with the stock plugins in that department 🤔
I really want to make stuff in the style of dj Clark nova. he did the toonami beats back in the day. black hole megamix. everything about his style inspires me but I don't know how
@@NavieD Nav u are such an inspiration to me. I really like ur style and try to make my own by adding some textures to my beats. Its a little bit boring to get the hithats off the gritt, but at the end, the beat has more bounce. :) im really happy that i find u on yt 🔥🔥🔥🔥
your videos are the best bro! I've been really working on making my drums sound human recently with like ghost notes and stuff and trying to copy famous drum breaks. random question though: do you organize your samples and delete all the shitty ones? and if you organize how do you do so? when i first got fl studio in December I started buying drum kits and downloading any free stuff i can find but now i have like 17 million oneshots, loops, and random ass sounds. sorry for the long comment question
so.. if i resume... without the mentioned plugins or helpers... which only in this videos are like worth 600 euro.. i cant really get into serious producing ...
Learning how to use loops correctly can really help you understand sound design and the power of reshaping sounds using your tools. In my opinion, its a separate skill set, but still very valuable.
@@NavieD the right way how to mix and master trap beat, to knock the kick and snare and not to overclip. i need to know are my beats quality enough or not
In the pursuit of loud mixes I have come to realize that the db meter does not always correlate to loudness, kick could be well below hihats in db but still sound loud. Also I have started to use limiters but I don't know what those knobs do. If you could make a video on loudness, limiters, dbs I would learn a lot from it. Good video btw

I like the idea. Although you don't need a drumpad to do finger drumming. If you have a MIDI keyboard, you can let it rip now

chopped layered with trap drums sometimes but all these techs i use
True, true. The way pads are laid out ergonomically would lend itself to better finger drumming
I used to think, using loops is like cheating. Not any more. This is helpful. 👍
Yeah, lots of people seem to have this idea. In my opinion, sampling/using loops in creative ways is a skillset in its own
Your drums are legit insane dude, I love how you make em sound gritty but still clean af
Thank you BANE! Hopefully you can use these new powers in your beats too now

This just opened up my eyes to a different style of layering drums
I have a video coming out on Tuesday that might help explain this concept a bit more deeply
Amazing tips 🙏🙏🙏🙏
