It is a real pity that Cathay do not come to Adelaide anymore.
I am not austrailian nor have I ever been to, so what's city should be a stop-over to get to Adelaide from anywhere where north of Bali, Indo. or Brunei.

Also the 4th daily flight to New York City from Hong Kong operated from terminal B Newark Airport CX890/899. Oddly CX143/144 PER-HKG is timed to connect to CX890 HKG-EWR pre Covid-19.

For an "Ultra short flight" you packed a lot into this episode! Your video photography and voiceover is excellent. You provide a nice amount of "silent" time so we can listen to the engines and appreciate and feel the climbout and landings. Thank you for that. Awesome to learn about your hometown and where you lived in HK in Sha Tin. Thanks for sharing.

Great review Jayden! I flew this route back in 2019 with Cathay and great to see that their short-haul service has not changed and improved instead. I remember back in 2019 all the food we got was a pastry which is still reasonable and is still greater than European short-haul but this is above and beyond!
Weird, I flew this route in 2018 and we did get a small hot meal
2018/19 is the year they started to change the service. Might’ve been hot meal during lunch/dinner time in 2018/19. Now it’s all hot meals to Taiwan :)
They still do sandwiches/pastries only on overnight flights to Japan/Korea/Singapore

Cathay also flies the A330-300 from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, which is even shorter (and possibly the shortest A330 international route).

Great trip report! I miss the CX A330s to SYD. The 2-4-2 Y seating with window + aisle seats together on each side were great for pairs. Not many 2 seats alone in Y on the 777s and A350s.
I miss them on Adelaide flights too! Wish they bring A330 back

Courtyard is a nice hotel.
See through bathroom design is because of space and safety I believe. The design makes the room more spacious.
Really miss Shing Mum River in Sha Tin where I used to live nearby. I love running along the promenade and a return route of Sha Tin and Tai Po which you can be flexible to run a 10K-21K depending on which returning point. Nice view as well
true it did make it look more spacious. I missed how spacious everything in Sha Tin is. And without too much traffic!

Before I received my Residency in Taiwan, I used to fly KHH/HKG every round trip every 90 days, that was when Dragon Air was with Cathay Pacific, now I have my Taiwan resident card❤

I've been on the A330-300 of Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to Manila and Manila to Hong Kong last year.
How did you like it by the way Jayden has a review on its rival RP-C8760-8789 fleet. Looking at the seats you'll get cramped layout on Philippine Airlines is wider by a small amount.

It was boiled in such coloured broth :) Common in some Chinese dishes too. Japanese ramen sometimes as well

Star has to be seen at night. They have to fly in and out during night.
I flew Cathay Pacific on an even shorter flight in January: Kaohsiung to Hong Kong. Their IFE really doesn't have many options you can finish in that amount of time and I thought that the seats were actually less comfortable than Hong Kong Express's
Interesting. CX A321neo seats are fundamentally more comfortable (same as their 350-1000) but they put them too close to each other and so poor legroom… I flew Finnair recently and the IFE had a section where it shows movies that you can finish with the remaining flight time left, so the selection keeps getting smaller and smaller as the flight goes. More airlines should do that !
@@JaydenWong On Cathay Pacific, it was an A330-300 and Hong Kong Express was an A320neo but I think the comfort for me wasn’t about the cabin or space between the seats but the seat padding itself
United’s IFE will tell you “you still have time for…” which I like. It won’t stop you from starting something you can’t finish, though. They should remember your spot, though, for your connecting or return or next flight. Now I’m wondering what SQ does because I have two short fairly flights on it coming up

Between these two short routes Hong Kong to Manila & Hong Kong to Taipei which one is your favorite? When it comes to those routes would you see CX🇭🇰 better than CI🇹🇼 and PR🇵🇭 or not? On A330-343X fleet which one do you have a preference CX🇭🇰 GA and PR🇵🇭 RP-C8760-8789 fleets
never done EVA. Between CI/CX: CI wide body> CX wide body > CX A321neo > CI A321neo > CX 737
@@JaydenWong CX doesn't have B737s instead you're referring to SQ B737s. If we put in my country Republic of the Philippines Flag carrier PR Where will CI SQ and CX fleets go against PR. For starters PR Jet fleet has the same fleet as CX/UO For CI when compared to PR missing plane type is B737-800 since PR uses A320-214s instead.

Idk that masks are still worn on CX (or flights destined for and/or departing from Taipei). I found that interesting.
And tbh, I prefer their 2011 seats compared to the crammed 3-4-3 seats on their 777. Their A350-900 and 1000 seats are the best IMHO.

If TPE-HKG is ULTRA short, than what is CAN-HKG🤣 btw is is a legit flight and CX do it twice daily
Though to be fair people commuting between Guangzhou and Hong Kong typically use high speed rail and other land-based transport. CX’s twice daily service from CAN to HKG are mostly taken by people transiting through Hong Kong with CX. Cathay offers competitive pricing out of Guangzhou when compared with direct flights offered by China Southern.
My dad flew on this flight back in November, apparently they have to idle in the air for 30 minutes just to burn off fuel

as far as Hangzhou in Cathay’s standard
almost 2 hours, this is far from a ultra short flight
on a good day it’s less than 1 hour 10
Plus long haul or short haul, it’s subjective, Cathay classes Hangzhou as ultra short too. Almost 600km longer than HKG-TPE. In contrary, Singapore Airlines sees Sydney as ‘regional’ when really it’s long haul
