- In this quick tutorial I'll show you 2 ways you can customize the background of an Instagram story when sharing a video feed post to your stories!
I'm using an iPad for this tutorial but it also works on iphone!

The icon may look different on your device but it's definitely there. It's an icon that will open your camera roll, so just try a few different options til you find it 🙏🏼
Why does Instagram make things so complicated, a simple layered feature should be added... thanks for the tutorial tho!

Update: There is a new feature where if you hold down on the background image and drag done you can arrange it to be behind the Reel. I just discovered in case it's helpful for anyone else :)
When I click the reel to move it to foreground it doesn't let me... It opens the text tab automatically and the image added keeps appearing above the reel. I have an Android.

This doesnt work. I cannot get the original reel back in front of the added background. Clicking on the reel bring up the promp to type in text

There’s a three finger trick that allows you to move a pic between the foreground and background but it’s a struggle to make it work consistently
I could never get that to work on my phone, but my wife was able to do it easily. Infuriating 😅
It doesn't work anymore in the new Instagram app update.

That icon might be different on certain phones, but it's there for sure! It will open your camera roll.

You have other way using photoshop. You can crop a square on the image and save as png, then you can use that small square you made to bring up the reels on the stories

Why do you have to make it in Photoshop?? Just save the same photo twice on your phone and crop them in half so you have two halves saved 🤷🏻♀️

What's the purpose of slicing the photos into two and then line them up instead of just using the whole photo as one background?
For most people, using 1 while pic for the background doesn't work unfortunately.

There is no such icon on mine
