Thank you for posting this film. I find the NIR InterCity (Enterprise) rake of mark 2 carriages interesting, particularly from a model building point of view. I wonder it is possible to get a "still" or "frame" of these carriages for model building.
Nigel Murphy more likely the late 80's because the CIÉ broken wheel emblem would have been totally replaced on every locomotive by the first Irish rail logo by the 90's I would guess. Irish rail come into existence in February 1987
Imagine what that service shed smelt like
Diesel and oil fumes galore
Pure heaven.
Wonderful action sequences. Thank you. The Hunslet must have been the ugliest loco to ever run on rails on this island.
Not NIR brightest moment using the hunslet when they had the mighty 111class (071)
You wouldn't get that many men standing around now
Connolly now only a shadow of its former self I spent a lot of time around there in the late 80s
Its like a ghost town now. Nothing like it was.
Grand job there!

Cool, I've never seen a video of a 101 class in action, interesting to know what the 8CSVT engine sounded like. Basically a super Class 20
They sounded like a more powerful 'Thumper', much more deep and throaty under load, i had a ride behind one in Belfast back in 1996.
Two of them? Wow.
+mythicalireland Any idea what year this was?
at a guess, i'd say late 1980s/early 1990s

Wonder where the three nir 111 class were
These are early diesels. When were they built? I guess the mid 1950s?
The GM Locos class 141 were built in the early 1960.
@@gerryconmy Thanks Gerry! Nice video! I need to brush up on Irish traction generally.
The Hunslets were built in 1969 - 70.
Out of curiosity does any one have film of the NIR 001class loco???
Irish railway archives volume one has some footage of a nir c class shunting ballast wagons at dundalk
@@martintrodden2743 must have a look
Awesome............
