Then after this movie i got interested in maniac cop.
This is the greatest movie ever.
YES!!! So cool to see this movie and this RUclips channel come together. So good. Did not disappoint 👍
What happened? A cinematic masterpiece was born, that's what goddamn happened.
Fun fact: Media Blasters is still in business. It's like 5 or 6 employees but it's still kicking.
I worked in a video store in the mid 2000's. We all all were hip to Samurai Cop.
thank you matt, awesome video!
We need a samurai cop 3 in 10 more years for a complete trilogy.
I actually own that Media Blasters release of the film, and the best part of the DVD was the Joe Bob Briggs comedy commentary you could listen to as he ripped on the film Mystery Science Theater 3000 style.
LOVED using the Streets of Rage music for this!
Have we ever done a "What Happened?" on a TTRPG, board game, or card game? I think there's a lot of potentially interesting stories there.
Wha Happun: FATAL
@@bejammin2000 Exact same place my mind went.
Although I'm not sure it would make a good _What Happened?_ episode given how much (from the version of the story I've heard, anyway) it's tied to the author's disfunction.
You've got to do big trouble in little Tokyo. That movie is hilarious
What a coincidence I just watched the Live Rifftrax of this last night!
Redlettermedia and Rifftrax were how I got to see it firsthand. Great episode!
The poster for "House Shark" is just icing on the cake of crazy contained here.
I am requesting and requiring more of these type of videos
Thanks for putting out this Wha Happun today, Matt! It’s one of the best birthday presents I’ve ever had!
I HIGHLY recommend the Rifftrax of this movie
I have no idea how I missed this in my sub box, but Im glad I found it today!
Consistent bangers from this Matt guy. I still dream of the day I open up RUclips to see you've done a video (or series) on Ecco The Dolphin.
Why Ecco?
@@zacatkinson3926 After the first two games, it had a... *very* tumultuous development process by the time it tried to move to the next generation of consoles. To say the least. There's a bunch of mysteries around it...
@ I had both in sega cd they were fun
I think every artists worst nightmare is to work their ads off to make a work of art, only to have it come out absolutely terrible and for people to mock and ridicule you
Unless the point was too laugh at it.
Most artists would do anything to have their art be as successful and reach as many people as Samurai Cop has.
@Matt McMuscles I like your taste in video game music. Shinobi arcade OST fits perfectly with Samurai Cop.
14:44 "But the director was having Nunavut"
*Laughs in Canadian
Was racking my head round the backing music at 18:00, then I did that thing where I remember sound effects that accompany it…
Alex Kidd: In Shinobi World !
Comes back with a absolute banger
This was such a great video that was moved to the next level by the use of The revenge of Shinobi end theme!!
Thank you. Thank you for this, I love this movie and this was a great video
The undercover cop joke was the perfect amount of cheese
I watched both Samurai Cop and it's sequel today thanks to this video. I can't believe I never heard of such classics before today. The movies may be a guilty pleasure but the soundtracks are incredible.
Really good ideas for cheapness also I believe the music in the background is from Turtles in Time. Who needs OSHA or safety protocols
This. I was not expecting this. My God, matt keeps giving.
How on Earth that speech near the end DIDN'T win an Oscar is a TRAGEDY!!!! LOL The 'Room' of action flicks!
"By the way, Samurai Cop, how's your sex life"!
-Tommy Wiseau
:D
"My sex life? Well after my circumsition "incident", not all that great."
@@Dustemikkel_Rev "But I thought he was such a good doctor"?!?! LOL
"My doctor did NOT cut too much off, it's bullshit, he did not cut too much off, he did NOT"! "Oh, hi Mark"!
I had no idea this movie even existed but decided to watch anyway, smiled and chuckled but when at 11:34 when you said the villain's name was Maniac Cop I damn near pissed myself laughing
This movies up there with some of the greats like Miami Connection and New York Ninja. Any schmoe can make a bad movie, but only an inept artist can make something special
Having Shinobi's music as background just makes this all much more badass!
I regret not seeing this movie before. The few clips from it in this video cracked me up! Thanks to Matt, I’ll hunt it down ASAP.
4:55 damn wtf? he got some moves!
Damn that KOF book. It’s like the closes thing to a Shinkiro artbook I can own
It's crazy how there's still more to this movie that you never got to cover. I also remember reading about how Fuj Fujiyama was just Amir's land lord who never acted in his life but Amir convinced to be in his movie because he looked like a drug lord
The only thing that ‘happened’ was that someone made a masterpiece
Didn't even recognize Zdar with that beard. It's a surprisingly good look on him!
This video really had me rooting for everyone involved, even though I'm not really a fan of "bad' films. I'm glad Amir got to die in America after what happened to him in Iran. I wish he could've seen how beloved his film became, as I've heard of Samurai Cop from many sources my whole life. It makes me think of the line from Ratatouille, "the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so". RIP, Amir. You probably didn't realize it while you were alive, but you're an American legend.
Yes! You namedropped OUR BOYS!!
Also part of me is sad this wasn't a Tornado Tag Team Triple Threat Tables Match feat the OSW boys and maybe special interference by Allison Pregler.
But it was a calisse de good time.
Hello Nogger!
