My favorite part in Jason Goes to Hell is that tue police finally said: "We've had enough of this dude." So they lit him up lol Then gets sent to space with Doom logic, fights Freddy Krueger, gets rebooted, gets a game, then vanishes from the face of the planet. It's tough out there for a slasher, if you aren't Michael Myers or Ghostface.

I still can’t believe Sean hated that Jason had a hockey mask, a universe where Jason doesn’t have his iconic hockey mask is like Freddy Krueger without his red and black striped sweater, Michael Myers without his white mask and or Leather face without his…well leather face.
It may sound astonishing, but sometimes the creator of massively popular franchise doesn’t always know what’s best for his own creation. Just look at Miyamoto, who makes head-scratching decisions like “fixing” the on-rail controls of a Star Fox game that were never broke, while recycling the same plot and levels AGAIN, or George Lucas giving the Star Wars trilogy a prequel trilogy whose only positive is being entertainment compared to the sequel trilogy.

Well things exist for a reason. They fulfil a purpose. If you change something so much it no longer does that, then what's the point. having Jason kill a crew in space like aliens doesn't make sense. The point isn't to have Jason try his hat at different things. The point is kids being killed at a camp(or resort, or anywhere with a mix of kids and teens). usually with some relation to Jason's trauma as a kid. Crystal Lake Memories is a fantastic book and I recommend it to any fan of the series / character of Jason. This movie had such potential (and one of the best opening scenes in the franchise overall), with the ties to Evil Dead being laid out too, that it's a shame the end result was so poorly realised.
I saw this movie when I was a kid and it scared the daylights out of me. Looking back, I still think it has some of the best gore and kills in the series.
This is really well done. Nice job Matt. Also I hate how a lawsuit is pretty much derailing all Friday the 13th stuff between Victor Miller and Sean S. Cunningham. Seriously. What the hell.

This movie, along with *_Evil Dead 2, Pumpkinhead 2, Bride of Chucky, Hellraiser: Inferno,_** the obvious **_Jason vs. Freddy, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon,_** and **_Hatchet 2_* all give hints that Michael, Jason, Freddy, Chucky, Candyman, Pumpkinhead, Ash & the Evil Dead, Pinhead, Fluffy the Crate Beast from Creepshow, Victor Crawley, and possibly Leatherface all share a Slasher Universe together.
This movie was crazy and awful but GOD I love the Evil Dead connection, Jason being some special deadite I absolutely love more than anything. Freddy vs Jason vs Ash was an amazing comic that idea again.

Don’t care how weird or different it was, I love this movie. That opening scene is about as good as you’re going to get in a Friday the 13th movie as far as turning expectations on their head. And everybody remembers the scene at the end with the glove coming out and pulling the mask into the ground. There’s some pretty good gore splattered throughout as well so I’ve always felt this movie was underappreciated.
Yeah there's some fun with Jason goes to Hell, especially the whole gimmick of Jason hopping between bodies definitely created some tension and gave it a bit more of an identity, which is I feel each of the Friday the 13th films each did quite well at which was each finding an identity for each one, I honestly felt like Nightmare on Elm Street after a certain point felt quite samey, cause it didn't do much differently with each entry.
Honestly, a found footage Friday the 13th could work. Have the beginning be like Cannibal Holocaust where it’s shot and structured like a typical movie, but when the found footage starts playing, it’s shot like it’s from a phone or a camera from the 80’s, 90’s, or early 2000’s. From there, we see what happened to the victims of Crystal Lake.
I'd say What Happened to the Child's Play reboot, but it'd just be you showing that clip of the Simpsons: "Here's your problem. Someone set this doll to evil.".
A lot of us hardcore fans do accept the cannon of Jason being a deadite, and the comic of Freddy vs Jason vs Ash is based off of a screen play that was written for the unmade movie.
With Halloween and Chucky being relevant nowadays, Nightmare on Elm street and Friday The 13th might as well be rebooted. With todays cinematic tech and talent I believe they can help breathe life to the horror genre of movies as well.
I don't remember if it was mentioned in the Freddy vs Jason video but the Evil Dead connection was kinda explored in the comics "Freddy vs Jason vs Ash"
I actually enjoy this movie in a so bad its entertaining way. Mostly because of how unique and absurd it is. It feels like Evil Dead meets The Hidden. Far much better than Jason Takes the Titanic.
Yo Matt, if you want a mess; try either the failed attempt by Disney on the Treasure Planet franchise. Or Fox’s fail Titan A.E. that’s turned into a favored underrated animated movie. Either of them have huge stories behind them, perfect for the channel
This movie was interesting to say the least, Jason's design and the powers were cool but it sucks that Jason was only in the beginning and end also I love Wes Craven's New Nightmare, that movie was fantastic
When I first seen New Nightmare (in 1995 on home video), it legit terrified me for a week. I also seen Jason Goes to Hell around the same time, and it also scared the shit outta me. Granted I was 10 at the time, but I still was scared shitless.
There were talks about Corey Feldman coming back to play Tommy Jarvis one more time, in a direct sequel to Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, simply called "Friday the 13th: Jason vs Jarvis". Much like "Halloween" (2018) it was supposedly going to ignore everything after "The Final Chapter".
when i was a kid and my friend told me Jason is blown up and a coroner eats his heart and turns into Jason i thought he was lying how did that get greenlit as a scene
Jason Goes To Hell's main theme of some thing possessing bodies and killing people is pretty similar to The Hidden, a New Line movie that predates this by a few years and stars Kyle McLachlan. Great movie, much prefer it over Jason Goes To Hell.
The funny thing is, if they had kept the hockey mask and had every new possession wear it, it could have worked as not only injecting some camp into the project, but had a mild commentary element to it.

Definitely was so fun just watched it again recently. The tent kill during the sex scene was insane. Crazy movie
Another great episode buck
Oh man, Jason: Off Season would be such a fun idea.
Don't think the Splatterhouse music being used flew above our heads! 🤣
That link between The Evil Dead and Jason is actually pretty neat. It could be used as a base for a reboot, I reckon
With Halloween and Chucky being relevant nowadays, Nightmare on Elm street and Friday The 13th might as well be rebooted. With todays cinematic tech and talent I believe they can help breathe life to the horror genre of movies as well.
13:35 Simpson's meme usage 100% on point
the connected horrorverse was such a cool idea i hope it becomes a thing eventually
Agreed. I wanna see these monsters FIGHT! Jason V Michael, or that skin loving LEATHERFACE! Let them fight!
I don't remember if it was mentioned in the Freddy vs Jason video but the Evil Dead connection was kinda explored in the comics "Freddy vs Jason vs Ash"
Great Stuff, as always!
This came out days after I actually watched Jason Goes to Hell, and I was wondering why it was so bad.
Good to know what happened.
Good video, you should do one of Halloween ends next
the venom, spiderman meme was hilarious and an amazing touch
I actually enjoy this movie in a so bad its entertaining way. Mostly because of how unique and absurd it is. It feels like Evil Dead meets The Hidden. Far much better than Jason Takes the Titanic.
I don't care what anyone says, I love Jason Goes to Hell. It's fun and different. What more can you ask for from the 9th sequel in a dying franchise.
The comic series of Ash VS Freddy VS Jason explains this more and SOMEHOW makes it even MORE batshit crazy.
I believe the footage of Cummingham talking about the hockey mask is on the special features of the Jason X DVD.
Love the background music at the start....from the old Nintendo game yes?
I caught that Pack Man World 2 Night Crawling music, nice touch.
Yo Matt, if you want a mess; try either the failed attempt by Disney on the Treasure Planet franchise. Or Fox’s fail Titan A.E. that’s turned into a favored underrated animated movie. Either of them have huge stories behind them, perfect for the channel
What Happened? Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007).
Some forget duke didn’t die in the movie.
The tent spike kill is one of the best in any horror movie! Shame that the actual movie wasn’t the best that it could be.
Fun Fact: The actors who played the teens were a real couple who broke up months before being casted for their roles.
New Nightmare is definitely in the top 3 for Elm Street with the other two being Dream Warriors and the original.
@@DerpinPON3 same, and honourable mention goes to Freddy vs Jason because it's a fun movie 🙂
@@ResidentWeevil2077 When it's delivering on its namesake it can be fun. In hindsight idk why people were so hard on it, like, what did they expect?
@@DerpinPON3 sometimes people don't know what's good for them lmao
Matt, can you do a video on Babylon's fall?
There were talks about Corey Feldman coming back to play Tommy Jarvis one more time, in a direct sequel to Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, simply called "Friday the 13th: Jason vs Jarvis". Much like "Halloween" (2018) it was supposedly going to ignore everything after "The Final Chapter".
when i was a kid and my friend told me Jason is blown up and a coroner eats his heart and turns into Jason i thought he was lying how did that get greenlit as a scene
Just a note: He can't teleport. He actually is a perfect physical specimen and can run really quickly as a result.
Jason Goes To Hell's main theme of some thing possessing bodies and killing people is pretty similar to The Hidden, a New Line movie that predates this by a few years and stars Kyle McLachlan. Great movie, much prefer it over Jason Goes To Hell.
