Can I just pipe the dehum into the pump, plug the pump into the wall, and ignore the little wires?

@@brandonvelasquez3530 yes you can. There's no need to use the overflow safety switch if you don't want to, or if you get the pump model without the switch.

Do they sell small sump pumps that would like fit in a 5g bucket? Could that work? Put the drain hose into the 5g bucket..then when the water gets to a certain amount would the sump kick on and push the water up the basement hatch stairs?

@@high_fructose_corn_syrup yes there are submersible pumps for 5 gallon sized buckets. This is standalone and fairly small sized. You can certainly drain a dehumidifier into a sump pump location and have a pump move both sump water and dehumidifier water.

Does the pump run 24/7? Or does it collect a certain amount and then kicks on to pump out?

@@high_fructose_corn_syrup it kicks on occasionally when the water is high enough. The noise is quiet enough in the basement where you can hear it if paying close attention, but won't wake you up

have you noticed that their concept (in the manual) of NO and NC are backwards from industry standard?
shouldn't "normally open" mean that when the system is functioning correctly the circuit is OPEN (broken) and when the switch is triggered the circuit closes (completes)

@@kamac1980 right, though it can be setup either way. I'm guessing they have the default based on how most people use it
