I just rebuilt my Sheppard box, trucks a 82 co9670 the box came off an 88 model truck and none of the marks lined up in disassembly. I timed the sector gear to the piston then mounted in back on the frame. Fro. There I had to set the wheels straight then count turn revolutions and split the difference then connected the pitman arm. I then removed the steering wheel to re clock it to the natural straight ride position. My pitman arm and steering wheel were not machined with clocking splines and could be set anywhere on the 360 plane after the fact. The steering runs stop to stop and returns to center with the steering wheel centered. The pitman arm steering head has some adjustment to help this issue but the ball joint has to be separated before adjusting. This is a 40 year old rig and all the parts suppliers make fun of me and only know how to ask for a vin number when I go parts hunting but she is easy to maintain and actually enjoyable to work on. No computer junk, no def etc
I have a problem with my trw Tas65204.. Hopefully you can help. My pitman arm shaft/connector has some in amd out slack. When i make a tight turn either left or right, at the steering wheel feels like a vibration. Is there anyway to adjust that slack, like the side to side freeplay on the steering wheel?
I installed a new steering gearbox for my 1993 Toyota 4 runner but I didn't see any alignment marks. So when I turn the steering wheel to the left is 2 turns and half, but the turn to the right is only 2 turns. I am wondering if you can show me how to adjust it in the next video.
there is a nut on the back of the box hard to get too u can tighten it.. I have a 18 casdia I tighten mine but still have play in in gona replace the damm steering box

No, sounds like the steering gear in the gear box must be worn out or something came apart inside.
Great video. The timing marks on pitman arm are for straight ahead steering position right?

There is 2 lines on the gearbox to align how do you know which is forward and back
Just ordered one today will be in soon, but do they usually come from the factory new lined up already?

Yes, when ordering from the factory they should be pre set. I could of did the same but had some free time on my hands.
