SBRs look fun. I am building an Aero .300blk SBR currently. Something about short-barrel suppressed firearms makes me wanna get into the game. My LWRC DI is fun, but I feel like I've been missing out.
Well I have a great admiration for both, personally I like my enemies at bay, with that said I would rather shoot at distance than trying to fight in a urban environment. Going out the door with DDM4V7.
Not enough of a difference in the overall practicality of those two weapons. Slightly more maneuverability or slight more range. However being that the sighting systems on each rifle are similarly ranged, unless you have very good eyes, the shorter one would be more handy as the increase in range would be nullified if you can’t properly identify your target. If your carbine instead had a scope or LPVO, it would be a much harder question to answer.
I just bought a DDM4V7 upper for a Spikes Tactical Ambidextrous lower I had laying around. I have 4 PWS long strole piston AR-15. Mk114 Mod 2, MK116 Mod 1, MK111 Pro pistol & a MK116 Pro. If I only had to grab one, it probably would be my PWS MK116 Mod 1 over the other PWS _ the DDM4V7. I would also grab my spare PWS BCG with piston system attached.
That would b a very difficult decision i went with a DD M4V11 IN 556 and the DD M4PDW in 300 BLK i will have to work on getting that MK18 LOL great video DD just makes a bad a** gun
I would go with the DDM4V7 between the two in the video, or even better for me, the V7 Pro. I don't live in the city, so while I would like a MK18, it's less of a priority to me. I could still clear a house with the longer barrel (though admittedly at a disadvantage), but the added range for me is the better option. You did say "leaving the house for good" so I didn't pick the one that's optimal for home defense.
I've only owned the mk18, but I've shot both, and the m4a1 gives you much better muzzle velocity. If youre going with a general purpose rifle, I'd go with the M4A1. Although, the MK18 is incredible as well. Lemme know which one you go with!
Still rolling with the mk18. Again 10 seconds never coming back screams shtf to me and I'm not looking to start or find a fight just finish them if they find me.
💯% I just got the DDM4V7 upper & haven't put it through the paces yet. If I had to grab, only one of my rifles & boogie, it would be either, my PWS Mk116 Mod 1, or my PWS MK114 Mod 2, & a spare BCG with piston attached. They are hands down, the most reliable & accurate Piston AR-15 on the planet.
In a situation where you have to 'pick up and go' in a hurry, you really don't know where you'll find yourself-- trust me. Having had to do something similar in the past, if there's even a remote possibility of coming into contact w/people, you need a weapon that is as 'hideable' as possible. So, while I *am* a serious "V7" fan, I'd head OTD with the Mk18-- assuming the reliability's the same...
@@ComeOnPelican91 I think folding stocks are infinitely useful, albeit expensive. Worth it, if you can afford it. Just practice deploying it in a hurry. You don't want it getting tangled in a backpack when you suddenly come under fire. PDWs, I'm not a huge fan of. That said, if it's all you have that you can hide in your situation, I say go for it. Being able to sling lead at the enemy is paramount. But when the enemy is using rifles, you're shooting back with a glorified pistol, imo.
Having ess-bee-ar'd a Mk18 as well as owning a DDM4V5 (V7 w/Pic rail), they're tools for different gigs, me personally would grab the V5 every time...very smooth shooter.
So in California the laws are waaaaaay different. You'd have to get a "California Compmiant" version, which is limited by mag capacity, and other functionality bases issues. Check on Rugers website for California compliant models is what I'd do.
You can fire a round with the law folder folded nothing will fly out the back. It just won’t cycle a new round. I don’t know who told you it’ll blow out the back but that’s bullshit.
@@hawkins71 I may pick up an upper when those come around. I have a 14.5 with the RISII and it’s great as well. But I really want that 6 bolt lock up on a 11.5.
So he racked the bolt with a magazine inserted. Didn't hear the noises that implied the magazine locked back the bolt. Then he pulls the trigger and it doesn't go boom. Then repeats it. How come no boom and magazine not locking bolt back. Fake magazine with no internals?
The real question is who else thought that was an actual wooden floor💀😂😂
What gave it away? The wrinkles? Lol

MK18 for me…smaller, lighter, T2 battery life, easily effective out to 300.
Exactly what I was thinking when I talked myself in to buying it. 😆
These two.. V7. But if need to pick best of the best... Radian model 1 14.5"💪

Mk18 all day even as my go too for any situation

i went betweeen these two and got the 14.5
Every gun I own has a long barrel, including a x95 and SA hellion even if they are bullpup a, I just got a mk18 for my first and only AR pistol
Ooooh, I've always wanted a bullpen, but never sprung for one. Full length barrel Ina compact size. Yes please!
With that 10 seconds, how r u carrying the extra ammo, and how much extra ammo?
I sit and stare at my mk18 and ddm4a1 and wonder the same thing every morning 🤣
Tough choices always have to be deeply pondered.
Great video I’m looking at the Mk18 but also the m4a1 that one is 14.5 what do you think would be a better choice between the two

DDm4 with B5 stock, Pmags and a metric ton of 62 grain TSX and JSP
This is the way.

I kinda feel that short barrels are for suppressors. If I don’t have a can I’d take the v7. The risII is hard to pass up though.
I have a couple cans sitting in ATF jail as we speak. Can't wait to get them in the videos as well!
@@dadbodoperator2466 having a can kinda hurt my love of my non short barrel guns. Suppressed 11.5 is so handy

Do you put any importance on folding stocks (LAW adapter)? How about even smaller PDWs, possibly in handgun chamberings?

Funny. I have the issue with obtaining NVGs. 😂
If it is forever then the 16” is what you would want
Honestly I gotta go with the ddm4 because of the longer barrel, the eo tech and I just prefer longer barrels.
That's a perfectly good reason. Muzzle velocity is important.
@@dadbodoperator2466 yeah and I much prefer the feeling of them too for some reason

What back up sights are you running on the V7? Looks like magpul on the MK18..
On the V7, I have some cheap Defiance Back Up Iron Sights. Which is funny cuz they're plastic. Super cheap, but decent.

Those V5's are seriously cool! You don't see them as often as the other Daniel's. Makes em cool by default.
I like the V5 but it has a shorter rail. The V9 has the full length picatinny rail, making it more like the V7.
Mk18 all day
Since the mk18 is a pistol, I’ll chose to appendix carry that with the m4v7 as my primary. Sounds good to me 🤌
Well said. Luckily, the mk18 won't print much with an appendix carry. Lol
the m4a1 14inch
In your guys opinion I’m about to buy a rifle for home defense. Between the DDv7 , Mk18 & The DDM4A1 what do you suggest ?
For home defense, I'm going Mk18. It what I use actually. For a CQB Scenario, there's not much better.
MK18 vs SWORD Int MK-15 SBR (piston driven)? Would love your thoughts and perspectives
I’ll grab the 4V7. My Shepard has the M18. We’re good to go
I’ll take both, please.
That's fair. 😆

Where can I get either of these in Southern California?
I’m a first gun buyer by the way and new to all of this
