Tbh I'm naturally a smiley person around people because I feel happy socialising, but I kind of feel like I should try to smile LESS because some people don't trust me because of it. Some of them think I'm faking being friendly. Which sucks and makes me feel like I look like some sort of psychopath lol

I'm of the age that I'm getting curious about possible procedures for myself and feel like Dr. Youn offer's really informative content of where to even start with what to consider. Also, the fact that he has videos of options to consider that he's not pushing surgery and/or products he's trying to sell, like the hair loss video, speaks volumes about his character and ethics. I wish all doctors were like that and had his kindness with regards to how he presents himself to others.

@@ASMRyouVEGANyet you have to be careful going international though, one because it’s harder to find a reputable surgeon without help (which is why people keep dying from botched BBLs) and two because a lot of the time you can’t fly right after surgery. Imo you’re way better off just saving the money and finding a board certified plastic surgeon near you. You get what you pay for. I think if you can’t afford it you simply shouldn’t get it done.

For early stages, I would also suggest going to a dentist to have "your bite examined". I was referred to an orofacial surgeon and diagnosed with arthritis of my TMJ from clenching and grinding. I had orthodontic braces to correct my bite, but no help with clenching. I think prevention is key here too. I did not realize how tight my facial muscles were until I started to massage them! I still need a bite guard. Also practicing biofeedback and other stress relievers really help! Believe it or not, I found a cheap mood ring on Wish as a helpful, inexpensive relaxation tool! There are also stick-on color sensors that can be used.

There is another way to treat it, just keep smiling constantly all through your life. Also, exercise your mouth daily. Accentuate the O’s the EE’s and the AH’s. If you start when your very young by the age of thirty it reverses that downward smile. We started in jazz classes and now I don’t have that problem. However, it runs in my family too and I was fortunate to have a teacher who emphasized the whole body alignment including your face!!!

Opening the bite can also make a huge difference with the frown. Frequently older people lose some tooth structure and bone in the mouth causing a lessened nose to chin distance which in turn collapses the skin/muscle around the mouth causing a frown. Opening the bite restores the tooth structure and, thus, the facial structures. This is accomplished by crowning the teeth or making new dentures, if that's the situation.

I have downturned lips and chubby cheeks, even when I smile widely, the corners of my mouth point down. I'm 27 now and guess I am getting nasolabial folds, droopy jowls and marionette lines sooner or later. Glad to know there can be accessible and not so terrible remedies.

I tried using castor oil on my face for a few days every week over a month. I didn't do it for frown lines near the mouth, but it took care of it for about six months. I used to have a small mouth. But, in highschool I had an impacted wisdom tooth that took over 3 hours to be dug out and then stiched up. It didn't quite cause frown lines but it looks a bit like it. Might not be a good idea for everyone. But, I still have adult acne and have naturally oily skin in places where people break out. It helped take care of the oil and the corners of my mouth at the same time. Worth a try.
