I never get tired of hearing this song. I have way too many favorites but this is way up there.
Same.
The single vinyl of Voulez Vous had Angel Eyes as a B-side. In some markets Angel Eyes was more popular than Voulez Vous so it quickly became considered a Double A-side single.
I hope one day you can get to come to London and see the ABBA Voyage concert. You’ll be blown away!
Wish them same thing too.
By "come to" I'm going to assume you live in the UK? In which case lucky you. I would love to go to the concert but travelling there from Australia isn't going to happen :(

Ahhh... My favorite ABBA song. 🕺🏻
Move On is another mind-blowing track.
:)) Move on is great!
@@Tom_McMurtryGlorious song.Chorus is a melody bomb.Lyrics, pure poetry.Thoughtful and sophisticated
My power song. Move on.
"Move On" is among ABBA's best. The melody with Agneta's crystal clear verses, and the sweeping chorus with Frida's warmer undertones blending in. Inspirational, and philosophical. Love the keyboard intro and bridge, which evokes cascading water or soaring over landscapes.
@@nickchristoforou7850..." evokes cascading water or soaring over landscapes"...!!!!Ahhh!Couldn't be discribed better than this!
Electric Guitar solo riff is another killer. Also vocals are tight and sparkling.A really lush production.
The song is about hedonism. Woman at a night club, there for a 'good time' and asking if her chosen target is up for it. "Here we go again, you know the rules, you know the game, (we're) masters of the scene. We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more - you know what I mean". Abba, clean cut? Forget about it.😂
..."hedonism"...hm!A really saucy interpretation.I remember it was written at the time the lyrics were about "social awareness" and "socializing"" ha!ha!I was so young i didn't even know what "socialising" really meant lol!
I feel the lyrics on Voulez-Vous and On And On And On fit nicely in certain kind of topic. Could be two scenes inside the same place :)
@@Smgs-ue7tjI can't disagree,it's quite relatable.
But who really cares about what it's about? I guess some do but I generally don't give a toss about lyrics. For me, it's about the over all composition, vocal quality, rhythm, harmonies etc. They could sing this in another language and it would be as good. And they often did that with their songs.
@@toby9999 You do not give a toss about Bjorn's lyrics? Nice.
ABBA did not only incorporate French but they released songs in Spanish ("ABBA ORO" album), German, and Swedish.
"WATERLOO"'s French version sounds quite sexy btw.
Has the Summer Night City vibe and video feel.... This was very popular in the Discotheques at the time of it's release....It would pack the Dance Floors...
Yes i do remember it was everywhere in the discoteques summer of 1979.Everywhere!
Enjoy your reviews, you seem to have a musical background, there was a musical analyst a few years ago who picked out an interesting fact about ABBA’s songs ( it was in the A For ABBA documentary in 1993.) where he stated that “if something changes, then something stays the same” and you hear it all through ABBA’s songs, even their new material, whether it’s a key change in the chorus or an extra phrasing, or as the chap noted that in Money Money Money, every time they sing Money it’s a different note. Someone picked up on this in a RUclips comment about Take A Chance On Me where at the end of the song, every time they sing ‘me’ its a different note or nuance. ABBA were so good at that, that subconsciously your brain picks up on this, that keeps you interested and listening for more. And, that’s aside from the glorious melodies, production and the quality of the singing.
"People everywhere,a sense of expectation hanging in the air"....
best regards to You from
Buenos Aires Argentina
the song "Voulez vous" (with "Angeleyes" in a double side-A single), pick at # 3 in the U.K., is the third single from their sixth album "Voulez vous"
(ABBA's album with the most sound and disco influence, for the Bee Gees hits in "Saturday night fever" movie)
some context data:
the video is from April 5 & 6, 1979
(also in the same days ABBA filmed the video of "Does your mother know" too)
curiously those two days were:
Agnetha's 29th birthday and
the fifth anniversary of unforgettable ABBA triumph in the Eurovision Song Contest (with iconic song "Waterloo")
the blonde singer Agnetha and guitarist Björn were already separated since the end of 1978 (with two young children)
what will be legal divorce in 1980
It must have been a difficult birthday for Agnetha; but still, here she looks beautiful and radiant in this official video
And now in 2022, a few weeks ago, ABBA edit a new lyric video of "Voulez Vous" ... it's fantastic!
Voulez Vous is one of my faves, but I also really like Andante Andante. Suggest you go back for another few listens. Like many of ABBA's songs, it will grow on you.
"Andante Andante" is Italian! It's one of those descriptions you could find over a musical staff, describing the attitude you should use in that part. As it happens to all those descriptive words it's written using the language of music, that is Italian.
Of course, but in classic music all the descriptions over the staff are Italian. This word describes the loose tempo of the song. And by the way tempo is also Italian, like many other musical terms: allegro, crescendo, a cappella, etc.
Pleeeease do Head over heels music video another bop! Another classic! Voulez vous great song also
I've Been Waiting For You is what you were singing.
Wow - great rendition of "I've been waiting for you" TCC. Your voice suits that track, and you managed to hit the ceiling of the high notes. I think you could carry off the whole song. It would be really interesting to hear it from a male perspective, and it could be a track on your new album. A good review as always of an Abba song.
Glad you both enjoyed this track. On behalf of so many of us , it's time to move on to 'Move on' .Please!😀😀😀
ABBA doing full disco vibe! It's when disco was at the peak of popularity and ABBA wants a slice of the pie. The only abba song not to be recorded in sweden, they recorded this song in miami, florida.
Thanks guys for your honest opinions 💖.... Andante Andante is a personal favourite of mine but I respect your decisions of what you like from ABBA, 🤗
Take Care and Stay Safe
🇬🇧💖😀
"I've been waiting for you" is the song that you can't remember & please react to "soldiers", a nice marching song that you can dance to.
Yah - love soldiers although it actually took a few listens for me to love it and then it became one of my favourites
'I've Been Waiting For You' is what you were trying to remember
Album of the same name peaked at once at No1 in UK And was also a big success in Japan apart from the 'traditional' Abba friendly markets.
@German Morawski Their followLP up GHV2 became the best selling album from a foreign act ever, only to be dethroned by M.Jn's Thriller.
Please reac to "Me and i" " Should I Laugh Or Cry" "hasta mañana"
Beautiful song thx for the reaction ❤️❤️
This song is SO good to dance to! Wonderful rytm. A very good song!
So glad you young guys have discovered my music!!!!
One of the best I've heard from Abba. Rolls along from the start then changes key. Also has great backup singers and musicians. Great production on this one with great pounding beat.. They remind me of a blend of European with ethnic overtones. They've used this as their opening number in many concerts.
@@christianoazzuro6711 lol i was thinking more of the UK live tour they did the song with backup singers, sounded exactly like this recording. My bad
Oh ok then!Geo B, Indeed it was their opener in their live '79 world tour.Thought you meant backup singers in their studio Albums. But live yes. They had 3 external b.vocalists in both '77/'79-80 tours.
Andante is Italian; the Spanish word you're looking for is Despacito.
This is on the same album as Does Your Mother Know. Same time period.
Again it's a pleasure to see you finding more Abba treasure.
Thank You For the Music - it is one of their most cherished tracks to point of considered by all as one of their anthems and most synonymous with ABBA....reasons being, well - basically, crucially when you do this one make sure you choose the official video rather than any other non video versions as for this one they did there is an official video with it. When you see it you will see cause of it being who they are performing to how adorable it is and when you hear it you will see why considered one of their most adored songs even though just flies by so quickly, and as far as the use of instrumentation well again - your see and hear all the magic!
You guys are awesome :))
Andante Andante = Italian ; Voulez-Vous = pickup line . Tropical Loveland = Reggae fruit 🍓🍑 salad.
It was filmed the same day as Does your mother know. Agnetha and Bjorn were just newly separated during the release of this song
Separated before the release of the song
at the Christmas time 1978
I didn't realize you still had some Abba bangers left 😱
Speaking of Austin Powers, check out Beautiful Stranger by Madonna, and also check out Erasure’s tongue and cheek cover of ABBA’s Take a chance!
I love it when ABBA look like they are having a great time in a video. I think this performance occasion was used for a number of videos. It was a big song at the time.
The song Tyler was singing was "I'll be waiting for you".
Andante is an Italian word actually. Maybe they use it in Spanish too, but Andante is known internationally as a musical term and predominantly Italian.
Love this song
My suggestions for you two... Cassandra and My Mamma Said. Opposite ends of their career and musically very different from each other but both are great.
Good suggestions....also "Bang-A-Boomerang!"
Yes yes yes!!!
for your next ABBA disco-style song, try "On and On and On" from the SuperTrouper album. It was a big radio hit back in the day. Be sure to find the full length version which is just over 4 minutes long.
to the night is gone! Yah On and On and On is a vibe
"Evil times are coming, we are in for darker nights".
Love this track.
..." and He said, Who am I and who are you and who are we?"
3:13 I've Been Waiting For You ....... do more ... sounds great!
Voulez vous ? la question c'est voulez vous.
Well, Tyler can sing.
Fact about this song....it was recorded in the Bee Gee's Criteria studios in Miami, the ONLY ABBA song that was not recorded in ABBA's homeland of Sweden well Stockholm to be exact. All others were either recorded at Metronome studios, Glen Studios, or eventually their own studio Polar Studio (with the exception of "Voyage" which was recorded at the studio at Benny's house).
It has been often mentioned that only the rhythm track was recorded there. Obviously not the vocals and most possible neither the guitars and string section.
@@NexandoThere was something mentioned about a participation
(concerning the instumentation-backing track) by musicians of a disco group called Foxy.
I liked the sound quality from Metronome studio the best.
@@geordieboy8945 I think I prefer Polar. But I love Metronome studio and many other recordings done there. It's still looks like it did in the late 1970s, there on Karlbergsvägen 57 (although called Atlantis studio now).
Love this song, love that you loved it, and you're looking cute as hell Tyler. 🔥
Please react to ”I am the city”. A song that was unreleased until 1993.
🤩Another video filmed at the famous "Alexandra's" discothèque in Stockholm.
Yes young man it's so good it's been around for more than 40 years. Ask your parents and grandparents they can give you the lowdown on Abba. Reach out listen to Blondie the song called atomic
Voules-vous, ah hah! Not a hit here in the US. Music trends were shifting here in the late 70's and disco (and Abba) fans had a stigma attached to it, so it's not a big surprise "Voules-Vous" didn't fare better. In fact, the whole album was not as successfull as the previous two. The only song that really got any amount of airplay was "Does you Mother Know." And that still only reached 19 on Billboard. Cant help feeling that this song and album would have done better here if it were released at the height of disco (76/78), then it would of been received better. Still makes them awesome though! Love the way you love Abba.
Different culture but also prejudice which was a charactreristic of some narrow minded critics/radio stations are some reasons that didn't help this fab lp there.Btw 'Chiquitita' was also top 30 hit in usa,but huge in Latin American countries from same album(.Also 32 weeks at No1 in Mexico!)
It's in a club... The whole song's about flirting and hooking up, iin a club...
Please react to Abbas ”I am the city”. It is what it sound like...Abba trying to musically emulate The Big Apple sometime in the early eighties. It wasn’t released until the early nineties. Don’t know why?
But most "city"-ish shots in their videos were filmed in their old home town Stockholm, even the ones that were explictly meant to portray Sydney (or if it was Perth, Melbourne), leading to some comical effects.
Thanks for the reaction. This song always reminds me of a James Bond theme. Like "Live and let die". But more Disco.
sorry, but absolutly different songs
"Live and let die" (1973)
by Paul McCartney & Wings
soundtrack of self-titled James Bond movie
is a fantastic song, another music style
mixing ballad, rock, reagee & orchestra
but nothing about disco sound
"Voulez Vous" (1979)
is pure eurodisco style, great too
two amazing songs, by two music legends
Paul McCartney & ABBA
but absolutly different styles
@@eduardooscar309 Never said they were not different songs. But thanks for pointlessly reminding me of that. I said the one song reminds ME of the other. A 100% actual fact. Sorry? I ended my comment saying that "Live and let die" did NOT sound like Disco. Hence the words "But more Disco". Thank you for letting me know that we do not think alike. Made my day.
@@donny1960
Not to be offended or sarcastic or ironic
I did not disrespect you, I only made a difference in musical criteria
Why weren't you explicit in your first comment? (you didn't say one thing, but you didn't say the other either)
Probably I felt sensitive because you referred to an iconic song by Paul McCartney, which I have printed on a t-shirt
As also now I have stamped an image of ABBA for its 50th anniversary
because Beatles and ABBA are my two musical passions
either way, I hope we continue to enjoy the music of the best
I wish you a good day
For a long time, I thought this song was about a group of thieves planning their next heist.
Could you please react to ABBAs "like an angel passing through my room"? It is very, very special and wonderful!
Of ll there songs this to me has the fullest sound on vocals and i think its because as well as the multi layering they would do during the chorus the guys voices are there much more than in other songs singing at the same speed rather than as a background as in Take a Chance on Me
Angeleyes
There is no better disco song ever, except for the icon Donna Summer!
You can’t love all the songs I mean you can but as a Huge A8BA fan even I have songs that I love .. ‘My Love My Life’ for example yes I’m thinking of you Marissa.. and songs that I don’t play as often.. it makes it better and more honest when you review a song and say how you feel. Pass given ! ❤️
Yes, too many reactors are not honest. I would rather hear critism occasionally.
Check out their reaction to Andante, Andante for less praise.
Now you're talking.
bloody radio mixes ~!
there is a full studio version...
There are about 6 million people with Arabic roots living in France and they have their own Franco-Arabic pop music. This song is influenced by that.
I find that hard to believe? A Swedish pop group 40+ years ago influence by Franco-Arabic pop. More likely influenced by American disco. Pretty sure Bjorn said that and there is the disco beat in this song.
@@toby9999 That was what was special about ABBA, that they didn't always compose the same song in the same style, but each song was influenced individually. "I have a dream" is based on Greek music, "The winner takes it all" is almost a French chanson, there are songs with Spanish, Irish or Italian influences.
No, Austin Powers used an Abba song... :)
Heyyy, could you do some mika songs? (if u havent already)
To me, it sounds like a mafia song.
LOL
The song is considered a classic though it was one of their least successful singles…
Top 3 hit in UK was good place anyway.Twas double a side with 'ANGELEYES' there.
@@alexioverdo5225 the honour of being top3 belongs to Angeleyes which had a lot more airplay than Voulez Vous... in every publication it is said that it the top3 placing was because of Angeleyes and not Voulez Vous.... in many other territories it was clearly less successful than Chiquitita or Gimme Gimme or I Have A Dream..
@@dreasbn Hi dreabson.Well tbh i wasn't living in UK at the time to experience what had really happened.I was in between central and esp. south Europe where i do remember the feverish impact of the VV song as opposed to A which was just an LP track. But neverthless VV got more recognition in later decades and i hope you do agree it's a great dance track.
p.s.Undoubtfully as you noted Chiquitita was the grand hit of all to this and i surely agree VV wasn't that big comparatively, though i love both VV/A as well as the entire LP that is one of my top Abba albums btw.
Curiosly in the ABBA 'disco album'
their biggest hits was the ballads
"Chiquitita" & "I have a dream"
both #2 in UK and #1 in another countries
and both songs recording in spanish
with fantastic success in Latin America
specialy "Chiquitita", massive smash hit
Hi
How old is he? 4, 6???
Who in their right mind would watch this channel?
7:39 No, they're not. ABBA had about 15-20 really good songs. The majority of their songs are kinda average or suck.
I think so different
In my opinion ABBA have only 15/20 songs under 6pts
90/95 of their songs are really good ,
specialy the '7 Wonders of ABBA'
@@eduardooscar309 Yes, you do Eduardo! That is because you are a "fan" (short for fanatic). You worship and idolize the creators behind the music, the same way small children worship and idolize their parents. You have an irrational emotional attachment which prevents you from assessing the music objectively.
@@paulknight9998 So your opinion is the ultimate opinion and just because we are fans we are not objective? If that were so, we would love all ABBA songs and at least I don't do that. But for me they nonetheless have much more than 15-20 good songs.
@@paulknight9998
expressing a difference of opinion about the musical quality of a group's songs does not make me a fan
moreover, when I express that there is a good number of them that are not my favorite, I am speaking of my objectivity
all this does not justify your attempt at psychological misinterpretation inadequate and extemporaneous
Generally, whoever expresses himself in this way, like you in this case, is talking more about himself and his intellectual poverty and closed-mindedness than about whom he intends to 'correct'.
in other words, who alludes to supposed fanaticism in others, is revealing his own fanatical behavior (of himself)
Which came first the fan or the music? IMO most people are fans because they like the music not vice versa.
Ain't no big decision you know what to do Cmon Baby Voulez Vous LOL
Best Song Ever 🔥
I'd love to hear it on the 2200 watt NAIM system in the 24 Bentley GT .
