I love how Eschenbach begins that main theme after the intro in such a slow, and rather ponderous manner...as if Mahler could not get his footing himself before walking across some field and pondering nature's beauty. For many years, I really didn't know what to make of this conductor, but I recently listened to his Bruckner 2 with one of the Berlin orchestras,...amazing....he is a real conductor to be reckoned with. I love his interpretations!
53:54 MY GOD, This ending is just PERFECT. The percussion, the horns, the woodwinds... Thank you for this amazing recording!
An absolutely brilliant rendition of a great symphony!
Amazing conductor. Conducting without a score and standing the entire performance!
simply love this conductor and what an incredible orchestra ... fabuleux et titanique...
Truely great performance of Mahler first I have ever heard.Well done Orchestre de Paris.

Breathtaking performance thanks to all of you. Amazing
Excellent performance of the greatest composed symphony of all time Period !!!!!
The conductor is absolutely in complete control of this great work, his expressions and gestures plus the fact that he has memorized this symphony is not only amazing but brilliant as well Bravo !!!!!
I'm not qualified to say whether this is the greatest composed symphony of all time, ( an extravagant claim, but I respect your thinking so ), but I cannot stop listening to it, or get it out of my mind.
It's probably my favourite symphony.
@@MOGGS1942 I'm Ok with that, Many people love it too!!!!!
Божественно! Высочайший уровень исполнения гениального произведения великого Малера! Всегда восхищалась французской исполнительской школой! Данная интерпритация - одно из идеальных достижений великолепных музыкантов и выдающегося дирижёра!
Outstanding interpretation!
Beautifully done, Bravo.

outstanding! i love it! 🩷
Unique
Eschenbach is one of the very best, no one better with Mahler !
He was one of them, but Bernstein, Haitink, Tenndstedt, Abbado and Maazel from years ago and currently Dudamel Alsop and several others are in the running as well! I love this symphony in many people.s opinion it is the best first symphony of all time. I,ve listen to two hundred performances of this great work and it is incredible to hear especially if you are lucky to hear it live! Mahler was a genius he composed 10 symphonies in his short 51 years of life Bravo !!!!!
This reminds me of the performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 1 conducted by Christoph Eschenbach with the NDR in 1986.
The Orchestra of Paris brought all the beauty and power of Mahler to one it's finest performances. Thank you to Chistoph Eschenbach. And thanks to all for the wonderful cinematogrphy.
