I saw this watch when it was released and bought it in minutes; of every watch I own, this is by far my go-to watch, by far, my favorite. Very classy, very sporty, very versatile. Classic and refined design in its simplicity.
I’ve had one for over a month and have worn it nonstop. I absolutely LOVE this watch. The design, materials, fit & finish, comfort, visibility and accuracy are top notch. DETAILING PRO-TIP: Ensure crown is sealed, warm water, soft toothbrush and microfiber towel …she almost increases in beauty with every quick, daily wash and buff!
I bought one of these on the leather strap as a Christmas gift to a friend of mine. Those raised indices look really nice in person and in my opinion make up for any shortcomings in the specs. Most importantly, he's gone from not wearing any watches to daily wearing this one, so that makes it worth every penny.
I saw that watch online and immediatelly fell in love with it! Thank you because I decided to buy the watch based on your video, and it is a very lovely watch, and good value for money - I bought it for $100 brand new.
I recently got this watch second hand (but near new), as a backup. I like the way it sits on my wrist. Only gripe I have is the bracelet, which lacks micro-adjustments. For me it is either too loose or just a little bit too tight (but wearable). Might change the strap.
Looks so much better than the Timex product page for sure! Not sold on the PCL and Mineral Glass always makes me cringe. A good Father's Day choice for many though!
Yeah agreed, not a spec monster at all. But a pretty handsome dial though. To me, the daydate complication makes the 3 oclock position look a bit busy, and the folded end links are a bummer. If those were fixed, this would be a perfect daily wearer.
I could be wrong, but on a Timex I think you have to continue spinning the crown until you get the correct day and time, and then you move the crown to the date position and you can change the date.
Did yoi find out what was wrong with the day? I tbink it was because you were trying to set it so close midnight whole the changeover on the day date was already happening.
The Seiko quartz movement (Seiko Hattori PC33) used in this watch has no "quickset function" for "day of the week." You have to set the "day of the week" by turning hour/minute hands. Once set, you don't have to worry about readjusting the day, however.
I really like the raised indices on the Timex, but the Seiko is probably a nicer watch. Not sure what kind of bracelet it has, but the Timex has hollow end links. I think they probably both do. The Seiko is automatic, and while I love Quartz, I do feel this kind of watch is better suited for a mechanical movement. Ultimately it's a matter of personal preference.

agree! i said this to an AD recently, you will never get bored of boring watches, ironically.

They did a great job for sure. If the pictures showed the indices, sales would be way better.

So cool. Yeah Timex did a great job here. More watches need raised indices if you ask me.

Any issues with the watch so far?
just bought this and worn for a week, it is amazing and looks expensive, get this watch if you can, it is an amazing daily.
Wow based on the Timex website pics I thought those numbers were printed. Here looks way nicer!
Excellent review 👏🏼👏🏼
Great video! I have always loved Timex; I think they make the best affordable vintage inspired military style watches around. Thanks for posting!
I’m a fan of The Waterbury line.

The average bracelet is what led me to selling it. I wish it had solid end links and a more premium clasp.
Just ordered this Timex Explorer 1 and saved $8k!
Where did you order ?
Wish this one was at least a Miyota auto like the other Waterbury traditional

@@lookatwrist at least the date has color matching background, but I agree. No date is usually better.

I think you're right, no quickset day probably. A bit of a pain but that used to be very common.
Would you say the bracelet sits firmly and has a nice weight on the wrist or loosey-jangly?
I sold this a while ago, the end links were hollow but the rest of the bracelet was a good fit for me. Depends on the wrist of course.
Its nice but does it have indiglo?
No. Sadly, the Indiglo movements are cheap, and make lots of noise.
@@lookatwrist i actually like the noise:-)
Does this watch have the indiglo backlight some timexs have?
No, sadly. It's always a mixed bag trying to find a good Indiglo.
literally every timex watch that seems good in a review video is already sold out or otherwise unavailable...
Yeah I feel you. You gotta dig around.
Where can you get more?
Any luck finding one? I would keep searching at Timex's page, plus Jomashop.

Probably, it was bad timing

@@bouldervideonews ah! Thanks for the reply. Now I know.
can you put a leather strap on it?
You sure can. Standard lugs, I forget the width though. I bet it would look great.
Do tbey come 42mm?
Don't believe so. The chronograph model may be 42mm.
I got a deal on this and a seiko srpg27. A difference in $60. Which one should I get?

Does this watch fit good with a 6.5 inch (16.5cm) wrist?
At 39mm it should fit well.
