A tight crew of locals dominates the main peak at Stuart Rocks. Most of them ride Impact Surfboards and hang out in the little hut. The polite surfer should not encounter anything worse than a stink-eye, but tread softly -- some locals are friendly and some aren't. Don't drop in on anyone: the inside reef is treacherous the entire length of the point, and the parking lot is far more dangerous than the reef. It used to be that any unfamiliar car (God forbid that it should have Dade or Broward tags) was vandalized immediately. Common pranks ranged from ham on the windshield to slashed tires and smashed windows. Although the intensity of the violence has diminished, fights and vandalism still happen. It's a good idea to back your car in if you're from another county.
