Many already know about Maiden Beloved + Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers or Prototype Amber build, but since 1.0 many more options have become stellar on Barbara. Barbara carried me on her strong little back for a long time. Never understood the contempt some have for her.
Her E only prpcs 3 times with a 30 second CD, 1 time resurrection, and the fact her E causes you the wet status meaning.. you are fucked by things like freezing, electro, vape, etc. She's more of a hindrance than a helmet in the end and nothing will change that.
Sayu, yaoyao, kuki, qiqi are better healers and the best one is the true healing goddess kokomi. The other great healer being baizhu coming in 3.6. So no, Barbara doesn't have much use if at all.

It's less about having contempt, and more of having better options. Not to mention her healing is barely enough for Abyss (this is where you minmax anyway) if you play her purely off-field. Still, she's okay in what she does and is a decent Hydro option if you don't have Kokomi.
It's because the early abyss on release were cryo field, everyone gets frozen when they used her, and then everyone condemned her for the rest of the game.
@DEFY its not just beginning of abyss though. This is EVERYWHERE in the game. Not just freezing but electro, vape, bloom, etc.
Barbara the unsung idol. As a caual-ish player, she allowed me to confortably 33* the last few abyss, on-fielding her in hyperbloom, and laughing at the face of the 12-2-1 birbs...

I know it’s not a fancy new team but I use Barbara in my Ayaka freeze team as a hydro applicator. It works well because it heals me, frees up xingqiu for other teams, and provides hydro application that follows the character. Highly recommend!
Edit: Forgot to mention that the one downside to Barb is being frozen easily, but in a freeze team I’m not going up against cryo anyways so it works
I like to use Barbara using the clam set with Rosaria and fischl for physical damage from the clam. Greatest combo ever? Nope. Fun? Yep.
I am also a proud triple crowned Barbara main and she’s been with me since ar 15 and truly a life saver
Barbara was my first character wish (before Noelle) and she was a lifesaver in the pre-artifact-farming World Levels. Those elemental reactions carried me!
Barbara is the gigachad of healing.
She's such a healing powerhouse, her E does the same as Kokomi's burst, except it's actually an upgraded version!
I can totally believe the theory that Barbara was supposed to be a 5*, but Mihoyo realised they needed a starting 4* healer. The fact that she's the only 4* with a burst animation Is more convincing proof.
she has a burst animation to let the player know the burst was activated. If it has no animation you wouldn't know without clues like HP or energy meters

Her practical cooldown on healing is around 5 seconds, and you don't have to stand next to a jellyfish to benefit from it in co-op. Everyone loves Barbara in random co-op.
@@LibraritheWizardOfficial Im usually the co-op Barbara, and yes, everyone loves me for it (especially when I surprise them with my DMG). For a solid year, barbs was my only hydro. I ended building her in an old school DPS nuke charge atk build (20k to 60k on charge atk with R5 Widsith). Her healing is enough (for me) that I can focus her build on atk. She was the first charcater to wear a crown 👑. I watching this video now, thinking about changing her build to more dendro/EM, but Barbs has always had a top spot on most of my teams. The only character that has been able to give her a run for her money, surprisingly, is Yao Yao. Yao Yao can heal, she does off-field DMG and dendro application, and with the craftsble sumeru spear, she also provides atk boost. Yao Yao makes a great Barbara replacement in my Heizou soup team (Heizou/Barbara or Yao Yao/Raiden/Thoma). It will usually come down to which element I need more, or if I need some mid-to-long range atk power, which Barbara can provide better than Yao Yao
@@shenvega6688 I have her triple crowned, but that potential is usually wasted with Clam set. It's really hard for anyone to die with me on healing duty, though. This week, I was doing random Apep rounds for fun, and I don't even bother dodging anything expect the big nuke.
Sunfire is pretty fun with Barbs, but I have to swap out artifact sets on Barbara, Jean, and Bennett to do it. Just not worth the trouble without a better artifact equipping system 😔

Very nice video! Very rare to see full guides, especially updated ones, on Barbara. I did miss the vaporize build tho, it would've been nice to have seen it mentioned in the video as well. Also, you can't just drop the guide saying you're a triple crown Barbara main and not share some abyss runs!

@@Meowreii I, too, am using Flower set on Barbara, and I'm surprised no guides are pushing it over Gilded Dreams on Nilou bloom teams. Nothing more satisfying than 30k flower bombs evaporating everything on the screen. My second Dendro character changes a lot, but I'm thinking Baizhu will get the permanent slot when he's out.
@@claretclarinets it’s because of resin efficiency. You’d rather get more deepwood which is essential compared to the desert pavilion set which is not worth it if you don’t have an anemo DPS. The difference was also marginal (5-10%) that it wasn’t worth switching over entirely. I’m glad you can still get some of it doing abyss though xD

She's my favorite. She has three artifact sets farmed just for her: Clam, Wanderer, and Paradise Lost.
I decided to let Kokomi rest after not giving her a break since she got released and decided to go back with Barbara for a while. Very shocked at how good she is in Hyperbloom teams and also mono hydro teams !

Barbara is a secret 5*. Look at her burst animation.
Barbara is actually really good . She’s an amazing healer , great for elemental reactions and with Kokomi’s set she can do good physical dmg . (Plus she’s the only 4 star in the game with a burst animation)
Barbara has a 5 star burst animation because she was a 5 star in beta. She's still a 5 star in my heart :)
An underrated ability unique to Barbara is the 12% reduced stamina usage that comes w/ her Glorious Season skill, great for certain CA characters
amazing guide!! i've always loved barbara, but before dendro i rarely used her bc she just felt too replaceable by stronger units. with sumeru i started trying some burgeon xinyan teams, and of all the many, many comps i tested, i liked her for the hydro slot the most. now she never leaves my party!

And Kaveh is exactly the reason why I am in doubt as for who is the best pick for the on-fielder in a Nilou/Barbara/Kaveh/DMC team. Kaveh is an on-fielder, and Barbara needs the on-field time, too.

I love my Barbara! I’m still building her but she’s a great help with my team. I get quite sad seeing many people hate on her or streamers swearing her out when pulling on 5* banners like Xlice on the recent banner pull.

I won't ever try to convince anybody Barbara is better than Kokomi but I've been having tons of fun recently with her in Nilou's bloom team. The sight of barbara emerging from pile of dissolving enemy bodies always makes me laugh. And I didn't even touch her build I used way back in 1.0, except giving her Sacrificial fragments (100% recommended, helps with her horrible E cooldown) meaning she could be made even better if I ever wanted to.

The one thing the guide is missing, though, is vape DPS Barbara.
4pc Wanderers (or combinations of 2-pieces for EM, hydro DMG% and to a lesser extent ATK%) with ATK/Hydro/Crit or EM/Hydro/Crit on a team with Bennett, a shielder (or Dehya since the point of the shielder is interrupt resistance) and a fast off-field pyro applicator (typically Xiangling, but can also be Jean thanks to sunfire, Kazuha, or Venti provided you're against enemies that Venti can pull in). For weapons, the Widsith is the best F2P-friendly option, especially if you have high refinements on it.
The idea is to stand in Bennett's circle and use her charged attack to vaporise against enemies that have been applied with pyro. It's quite similar to melt Ganyu actually, except that it doesn't work with burning. Make sure to dash as little as possible, since you want to conserve your stamina for Barbara's expensive charged attacks (which is why having interruption resistance through either Dehya or a shield is so important).
Unlike the other teams, this one relies on a very high-investment Barbara, but it's so fun and satisfying that it's worth it IMO.
I thought about Vape Barbara when planning this video but decided against it even though it actually does work.
I triple crowned Barbara way back for vaporize, but as time passed I found myself getting annoyed with the stamina restrictions. Fun build for sure but now with an easier playstyle like Nilou bloom I hardly find myself going back.
Also, to keep the video short it’s not mentioned as the video already is long enough without mention of Barbara vaporize haha.

Nilou bloom is WAY stronger for sure. Like, Nilou/Barbara/Nahida/DendroMC is by far the strongest team on my account. Vape Barbara is strong but far from the strongest (I guess it's the strongest "off-meta" team on my account, at least by what I consider meta or not)
I've only tried Sunfire Jean a few times, but man did Barbruh hit like a fire truck when I tried.

I actually use Barbara since I got her. she's one of my favorite characters and I love using her I use her most of the time as a DPS and as a sub dps/healer in abyss. she was the first character I crowned and I absulotly do not regret it. I'm hapy to see more people use her now ❤
I’m using Barbara since the day I obtained her. Never had a problem with the so called “Frozen issue” since I knew how to dodge and set enemy priorities.
I first used Maiden’s Beloved, now I use the Clam Set. She’s partnered with Anemo Lumine, Raiden Shogun, and Diona.
Much fun in the abyss.
The freezing issue was heavily ingrained to some people from 1.0 because of the cryo floors in Abyss 12 1.0.

I know. Even back then, I always said to either just use her Burst or simply use another healer.
It's not even a 1.0 issue. It's an entire issue when aoe is a thing and enemies are hitting you or something procs randomly to cause the status in the first place. Not to mention for 30 second CD on her E skill her healing procs 3 times for very little when you can end up with more value using kuki, sayu, qiqi, kokomi or even baizhu who's coming in 3.6

Furthermore, the CD is reduced by her C2 and the duration of her skill is extended by her passive, dodging or just using her burst during the remaining 7 seconds makes the downtime meaningless.
It actually procs 4 times and the healing is quite massive actually. Especially if you consider her burst and the fact that she also heals with Normal Attacks.
The rest is hyperbole as nobody even touched Kuki before Dendro. And she needs a healer or a shielder herself. Sayu is barely even used. Unlike Barbara, Qiqi just heals and has no insta-heal.
Kokomi is only valuable for Hydro application, otherwise you’re forced in a single area to heal while Barbara gives you freedom of movement.
@@LuisBrito-ly1ko Kuki doesn’t need another shield or healer, she also commonly used with Xinqiu which provides more defence utilities.
Sayu is meh, Jean does her job better.
Kokomi can also use ttds, tenacity and has one of the best healing of the game, much better than barbara.
got c6 barbara recently so i want to build her :) its always nice to have a variety of healers for co op hehe
My dream team is hu tao diona nilou and koko but i have only hu tao and my barbara has been carrying me since ar 10 so this is really helpful

Barbara has been on my team for a long time. The latest is with Nahida and Raiden, with Barbara as the main trigger as her attack is instant. Very powerful, 60-70k+ dmgs hyperbloom on crit.
I've been using Barbara with Nahida, Raiden and Yelan. works pretty well.

even though i have my barbara lvl 90 9/8/8, i never knew how to slot her in my teams with a support build, so i always restricted my little idol girl to overworld duties,dismissing her as a dps loss... this guide helped me understand her better, very clear and simple! she was my only hydro for a LONG time and carried me through all of my pyro regisvine runs, so i'd love to use her more!

My barbara + nahida raiden hyperbloom works pretty well as a budget kokomi, even if i have kokomi, trying to use non meta favourite characters isnt as easy as people said

my barbara have always been in my team throughout abyss floor 12, out of all standard characters she's the one I still use since day one I play to this day, especially after ocean hue sets are released
I've been using Barbara as an hybrid of some of your listed builds since before Nahida released!
Mine uses the *Ocean-Hued Clam* set with *EM/EM/Healing%* pieces focusing on HP, EM and Crit% substats, and the *Favonius Codex* as the weapon, to generate energy for the team; She is joined with *Fischl* by the hip to proc reactions from her *Thundering Retribution* and *C6 coordinated attacks...* both are at ~500 EM while not losing much in personal damage (be it Oz or Clam), and both go so well with *Nahida* and her *Tri-Karma* procs (800 EM before buffs) that it's not even funny. The last slot is a flex and can be anything from Cryo to Anemo, another Electro (Beidou) or even off-field Pyro from Thoma or the awful Dehya.

I remember my first 20 ranks involved her with Yanfei cause she and Noelle were my only healers, I had to stop using her after pulling Jean and finally getting Xiangling from abyss but she’s still fantastic cheap support for bloom or vaporize.
I give Barbara a Kokomi's kit. Combined her with the Raiden Shogun, Nahida and Klee. Ocean-Hued Clam Artifact Set + Everlasting Moonglow as a weapon. The combination of having Nahida and Raiden Shotgun's reactions, I can spam Barbara's normal attacks and it's just wipes people out. Not the best combination of characters, but I like having variety on a team. Klee is just there for well, jumpty dumpty spam vs clustered enemies, similar to Raiden also being their as a burst DPS at opportune moments.

She was my first level 90 character and I always will use her . As vape dps or phys dps or dendro core dps o healing and buffing, I am all for her (I still waiting for her sister to join u.u)

I adore Babs, and somewhat relevant, as an Ayaka main, , I find Barbara a much better hydro applicator for Ayaka freeze than Kokomi for her Elemental Skill's mobility, combined with Ayaka's alt dash+imbue, you get to CC anything you want for basically free

Barbara is a great 4 Stars Hydro character, I would say she have more supportive utility than most credit for, just don't use her against Cryo-enemies, I have a feeling that once Natlan and Snezhnaya dropping new Cryo-enemies would be very nasty for Barbara mains, but the rest of other elemental obstacles and foes, she would be really good most of the times (I pretty much relies on her with so many stuffs at the recent Sumeru's desert

As a Nahida Main, barbara being MY ONLY HYDRO unit speaks wonders about her abilities.i've only been playing for 4 months and i can now clear floor12 pretty consistently. Albeit 5/9 stars
my barbruh tanked 450k damage this abyss cycle lmao. i use her as my on field character in my nilou bloom team and its crazy strong and fun
While me who builded Barbara with Crit circlet, hydro goblet and ATK sand with 60/150 crit ratio and used her as a dps in an early of the game.
Funnily enough, I kinda use the last team mentioned here (Barbara, Fischl, Roasria) but with Albedo as my 4th and none of the right artifacts nor weapons listed in the video (also only recently switched Barbara to use Sacrifical Fragments as a weapon); plus each character typically gets some on-field time when I'm playing 😅
But the team does work out well for me and is the one I'm constantly using so I did something right with the build ^-^
I use barbara for exploring as she can heal everyone while i run around the world with raiden doing damage. good to know i can build her up for bosses too

As "Nilou + Barbara team" user i would say - Best build for those team it's: 4 Ocean; HP + HP + Healing; substats full EM; EM weapon. Mine have 600 EM wthout any other buff and has enough healing potenical to protect whole team in 12 abyss. Full greedy EM build not worth it because in those team you can't be sure that your barbara would creater all blooms herself but healing is only her task. So you sacrifice a little non stable bloom damage to protect your whole team from enemy and blooms.
Oh, this is very important comment since I am looking to just get to Floor 12 (stuck at Floor 11-3 now). So, 1) Level 90, 2) Sac Fragments 3) Skill/burst talents at level 9, 4) OC HP/HP/HB + EM-> ER as substats, right?

i'm mainly using barbara clam set as i wait for the cinnamon bun that is kokomi. i use her on-field hydro to make bloom cores too and the yae miko for hyper bloom. i also been working on a vape build for her, she's at 7-6-5 for skills. i do want to make critkomi when she comes back

I'm using her as a healer/support for my Beidou since she is my main. Now I'm experimenting on Dehya with Barbara as her support/healer.
I was wondering if it is worth to just stuck her full em for hyperbloom. (It's just a fun idea I have right now, not an actual team) barbara, kuki, dendro mc and flex bps (either anemo, hydro, eletro or dendro character)

I didn't pull for Kokomi to make her replace my Barbara C6. I pulled for her because I wanted another Barbara in the second part of Abyss. Barbara is better than Kokomi 'cause her healing is more reliable. You don't have to stay in one place to get healed. Her elemental skill heals the entire party while she's a tank. She can buff the DPS, heal the entire party, ressurrect a fallen member with full HP (C6) and if everybody is almost dying, she bursts and make everybody come back for more. Almost impossible to be killed with Barbara in you team, besides she has one of the most essential elements in the game: hydro and her application is great for close combat DPS characters.
Barb for me is pure OP hydro damage bonus when using her gleeful song “OP Yelan” insane heals I get compliments all the time when I Co-Op with her

what artifact set and weapon would you recommend for barbara if the team comp is Barbara, beidou, dendro traveler, yaoyao/fishcl? W/ barbara as on-field dps
I used barbara in early game and I stopped upgrading her when I was building more characters for the spiral abyss. Oceanid is such a boring fight and I got burned out after ascending my Xingqiu and Childe so she's still stuck at lvl 70. I still use her in open world every once in a while with my ayaka, being able to move around while she's healing and applying hydro to enemy is a big bonus in open world. I would probably upgrade her again if I stop being broke every other patch.
I have a question tho, can Barbara trigger the effect of totm reliably? I always use her in a freeze and I don't think the em bonus from instructor is that helpful.
I have a 1.1k EM Barbs (with team buffs) on my Nilou team, with sac frags, two of her skills absolutely WRECK the triple Maguu Kenki on this abyss. Is she the best option? Probably not, but her c6 has come in handy many times for on field Nahida haha.
I usually play Barbara in my Alhaitham team alongside Kuki and either Layla (with a lot of energy recharge to freeze) or Bennett (for the buff as he is not such a good pyro applier), although I do this when my Alhaitham has to receive a lot of damage, this mainly cause my Kuki is built for support, not for healing. This team has seen the most of successes in Slumbering Court level IV. For the record my party is between 60 to 70 as I started playing very recently, but they can defeat level 90 rift hounds on time
Awesome guide! I was wondering if she would be enough to replace xinquo for my Al heithem team as and off field healer and hydro application. I wanna put my xinquo on my hutao team. And I figure since Al heithem is melee, she can proc blooms often?
She can only proc wet to enemies for a short while which means your sitting with a 30 second CD once 3 procs of healing pass. Not just enemies but uourself too. Barbara is not a good healer when she can get you killed due to how her healing gives you a long standing hydro status. If you need a bloom capable person that'll be nilou or kokomi. Maybe mona? Ayato works too.
Barbara is so good, when pyro lectors were in Abyss 12 I used her to 3 star that chamber. She can do it! She was my best, most useful healer untill hard lategame, before even dendro came out. She was supposed to be a 5 star so no wonder :P Now I use Kokomi more, cause I got a donut catalist xD
will Barbara work with Ayaka, Shenhe, and Sucrose? what build should she use?
