      @@tractioncontrol.ca1 I’ve never driven a motorcycle before. I’m wanting to finance the 2022 Harley Davidson Iron 883, but I’m not sure if going brand new would be for the best. My two questions for an experienced rider for yourself would be the following:
      • Should I Finance New or Buy Used?
      • Should I Put Crash Bars on my Motorcycle?

      @@DynamicWrestlingGroup I recommend to do the safety course first before buying your first bike.
      Most important thing is to find what '"Type" of bike you like. Safety course is a good opportunity to try different styles of bikes and then decide what type of bike you enjoy the most.
      I have seen many students buying a cruiser just to realize they like sports bike more and vice a versa.
      Used/finance/new/used - it boils down to personal choice/financial situation etc. I highly recommend new riders to buy used small cc (under 500cc) bike and improve riding skills. You can apply learned skills from small bike onto bigger bike.
      If you start with a bigger bike, you are struggling with weight, too much power which in return prolongs your learning process.
      Hope this helps to make a decision thats right for you.

      @@DynamicWrestlingGroup don't do that to yourself. You'll regret buying a bike that feels like a truck as your first. Harley died in early 2000's anyways, maybe look at the older 80's Harley's or look into Honda or Yamaha's lineups from the 80's onward like the marauder, interceptor, maxim, virago etc

    I got my motorcycle licence in Ontario, Canada back in 1990. I wrote my beginners at the start of summer, then rode with a group of buddies for a month or so during the summer. After those 4 or 5 weeks I went for my full M licence @ the MTO & passed!
    --->within 20 minutes of getting my FULL M LICENCE my buddies & I were off on a road trip to the USA! I wore my helmet on the highway but when we got to the city in Minnesota we all took our helmets off as there is no helmet law there!

    I've been deliberating over getting my license for years. I grew up in a really rural area so the thought of driving on highways and in cities freaks me out - I'm not used to the traffic. But damn does it ever look like fun to ride the country roads. I'd love to take a trip across Canada on an adventure bike.
    This video is helpful. Now I just need to stop being so worried about riding a bike. :P

      If you were looking for a sign, this is it. This is the year to pull the trigger. Its normal to be freaked out by city traffic and highspeeds but it all can be conquered by training and practice. I have done multiple Canada cross country trips and those are one of my best experiences. I am big fan of adventure bikes for their capacity to go on and off roads. Not sure where you are located but if you are near Toronto hit me up, I will help you to enhance your skills! You can find my contact details at www.tractioncontrol.ca. If you are not in Toronto, look for motorcycle training schools in your area.

    When you say you have to hold your license for a certain period of time, what does that involve to do so? Do you recommend getting the bike first? And what’s a good beginner bike that can also be on the highway?

    • @tractioncontrol.ca1
      @tractioncontrol.ca1  5 месяцев назад

      You don’t have to do anything to hold the license. You can hold your license level even if you don’t ride. However you need to upgrade until M level before it expires.
      Getting a bike before license doesn’t make any difference unless you can start insuring. Earlier you built history, earlier your premiums will go down. But you would need a license to start insuring.
      Any bike under 500cc is your best bet for best beginner bike for highway and street riding. Also these bikes are cost effective on insurance premiums.

    The Ontario graduated Motorcycle system is broken. Most riders I spoke to write the M1 and do not ride until they can book an M2. Then, you cannot find an M2 test anywhere in eastern Ontario for months. Our preferred location is Cornwall but there is nothing up to Ottawa and even west of Kingston. Insurance on a 1982 XL500 is $650/month for an M1.

    • @austincouto4652
      @austincouto4652 Год назад

      That is not "broken". The only way you will get any experience off of an M1 license is if you know someone who will allow you to ride their motorcycle to learn on. Insurance companies are not foolish enough to insure novice riders OR drivers who only have their M1 or G1 licenses. The course of action you should be taking as someone who does not have any experience NOR anyone to donate them a motorcycle/dirtbike/scooter to learn on is to book an M2 learners' course in which motorcycles will be supplied by the organizing group. To be frank, I think ANYONE who wants to get their motorcycle license should take this course for the experience in general. To boot, when you pass it grants you an M2 license in which you WILL be able to get affordable insurance on. I know the course is not cheap (600-800 dollars) however, it is worth every penny.

    • @cinemabunny
      @cinemabunny Год назад

      @@austincouto4652 I don't think insurance would cover damages from an M1 rider who is not on the policy of the M2. I have been riding since 1985 and motocross prior to that.

    when is this process do you get the actual bike, gear and insurance? im so confused because you need the license to get the insurance, to get the bike but you need the bike to get the license?

    • @tractioncontrol.ca1
      @tractioncontrol.ca1  Год назад +2

      I see how it can be confusing, here is the step by step approach:
      Step1: Get license through safety school (bikes will be provided by the school for the test but you will need to arrange riding gear)
      Step 2: Find a bike you like then get insured
      Step 3: Visit Service Ontario to transfer ownership under your name, you will need below documents
      Owner's responsibility - Provide Bill of Sale, UVIP document and Registration.
      Buyer's responsibility - Insurance, Safety certificate and transfer ownership.
      On a side note, you dont need a license to get a bike as long as its insured and plated. Bike can be either towed or ridden by any licensed rider (a friend)
      I will be making a video on how to buy used bike in Ontario, stay tuned!
      Hope this helps!

      Glad I could help! Its hard question to answer without looking at your riding. Take with a grain of salt what I am about to suggest. If you have a prior bicycle experience and have no problems with balancing on two wheels - I would recommend minimum 250/300cc. If balance is the issue, 125cc will help you to pick up skills quicker (since you are not dealing with lot of weight) - just my two cents. All the best!
