We do stretches for every other part of our body, but a lot of people forget about the hands. The hands are used the most. There are a lot of simple exercises to alleviate a lot of tendon pressure.
I hike all those trails regularly, including Elwell last Saturday. We started from Gray Eagle Lodge though and 2 years ago, we started from Jamison Mines. Both trails very steep, but the views are spectacular! I cannot imagine mt biking up there. Please be respectful of us hikers and our dogs when you meet us on the trail and we’ll do the same for you.😀
For the headset creak check the star nut in your fork. Even if it seems like the correct depth pound it down a tiny more. I had a similar issue in my yeti and this solved the problem. Just allows the headset bolt to hold torque a little better and helps eliminate any movement.
Add spearmint essential oil to a spary bottle with water and spray anywhere you don't want wasps (e.g. decks, overhangs, and awnings). It keeps them away and makes it smell good lol
Your channel made me more aware of the Ibis brand! Picked up a Ripley AF and threw a 140mm fork on it and it’s an absolute machine! Perfect for the trails around Duluth MN and is capable at gnarly trails too at slower speeds, but climbs so good!
My Grandmapa died from cancer. My aunt had cancer, now my uncle has had cancer for the 3rd time. To say im scared about cancer is an understatement. It's a constant conversation in my family. God Bless.
Hey Brian, I’ve been a fan of the channel for many years. Love what you do! I’m a physician. You’ve got what’s called trigger finger; it’s when there’s some inflammation of a nodule on your tendon of your finger; it makes it get caught when it goes under the pulley that keeps the tendon in place. Very common condition, I treat it all the time. You might start with some Voltaren gel over-the-counter. Apply it to the palm of your hand where you feel that it gets stuck (at the base of the finger); do this four times a day for two weeks and see if it helps (as long as you don’t have any conditions that preclude you from using NSAIDS.) If this fails I perform ultrasound guided trigger finger injections. I’m sure you could find a doctor near you that does this. I live in GA. You would want to try a couple of those injections before you consider surgery. I hope this helps! I’m sure we will shred together someday. Cheers, Tyler
Its great to periodically drop in to watch you and see you are still at it and happy Brian. Bummed to have missed that trip to Japan. We are heading back again if you miss the loam and convenience stores enough.
Glad ya finally got out to ride that one. It was fun watching you walk the sections I did too! I was thinking if he cleans these climbs I'm gonna be blown away!
@26:23 Lots of options for water filters that are small enough to carry on a bike ride. In Colorado Springs, I never leave without it, as most of the trail systems in the area have a creek crossing or 4. I've been using the Platypus Quickdraw recently and have been enjoying it.
I had trigger finger in two fingers. I wasted a lot of time and money on physical therapists. They finally sent me to a hand surgeon, where I wasted more time and money with steroid shots. The surgeon wanted to cut the tendon sheaths that act as pulleys - I wanted nothing to do with that. I experimented with a lot of techniques to remedy the condition, but only one helped: Simply extend the finger as much as you can using its extensor muscles. Then, using your other hand or an immoveable object, slightly stretch the knuckle further into extension. (Extension is moving the straightened finger away from the palm.) Hold for a few seconds. Repeat several times per day. After the triggering fades to nothing, maintain by doing the same stretch at least once per day.
@@stanmustard7292an OT or PT is definitely worth the time. They will be able to give you personalized exercises that are going to help trigger finger. It’s a common problem. Finding a good OT is your best bet.
I had trigger finger in my thumb and the surgery was the best decision ever. If the "triggering" is constant surgery really is worth it. No amount of stretching or rest helped.

Like with BBs creaking headset is usually due poor tolerances. Headset bearings are moving. Only way is a very thick grease in the seat. I even had to use resin glue on some bad frame. Best is to have a good quality frame, does not mean Branded frame. Branded frames nowadays are very often out of spec. Inspect your headset bearing seats very thoroughly. ✌️
Yup. MTBing is definitely not for the impoverished. Even if you are trying to use it to recover from PTSD. Just fueling and hydrating yourself for regular MTB rides adds to your grocery bill alone. I feel like one of these days the lines are going to be blurred so much between acoustic MTBs and eMTBs that after a while you won’t be able to tell the difference, since the weight keeps going down, and the power keeps going up on eMTBs, heck, with wireless shifting and garmin computers ect. Your high-end acoustic bike is half eMTB already! When the weight is about as much as a light Enduro bike even when the battery is worn down, and you can still pedal it like a regular mountain bike I think that will be the shift and acoustic mountain bikes won’t ever be the same again.
Yep, I agree too. The battery tech is going to improve a ton very soon!
