    I'm not gonna lie, this entire part at 6:00 looks intimidating AF. The rainbow of seemingly random lines was difficult enough to interpret, but then you turned it into a jumble of lines, and then 'splined' the controls, which turned it into a mess >,< .
    I've been using Maya for the past couple years, and I've almost got my character done (furred humanoid animal, Wilykat from Thundercats 2011). I've done all this with no formal education, but it kinda looks like you'd need a master's at Yale in order to figure out that graph editor..

    • @wearedow
      @wearedow  2 года назад

      haha 😅 it’s not that complicated once you know what each graph represents, and you get used to it :) it also doesn’t help that I selected all the controls at once for the demo ~
      It sounds like you’re more of a character modeller, which in my opinion is a lot more complicated than animation! (we just need to know the graph editor 😅 )
      if you’re interested in doing animation, I’m sure you’ll pick it up really quickly :)

    • @sizlax
      @sizlax 2 года назад +1

      @@wearedow Well, I wouldn't necessarily classify myself in a specialty of sorts.. someone that's a character designer, would likely know their way around Zbrush (or similar program).
      For me it's more of a hobby, with potential ambitions for going professional at some point. Truth is, I've got a lot to work on in the way of confidence before I can meet my potential.
      On a side note, I would have had this character done by now if I hadn't gone with a furred character. Xgen can be a real pain to work with. Hairs getting stuck under the model, or becoming unselectable, or unintentionally brushing hairs on the opposite side of the model .etc.

    Can you please make a video about how to make a character run in a zig zag kinda motion using motion trail....like in your shot....and the fall is accurate so how did you planned that out????

    • @wearedow
      @wearedow  Год назад

      Thanks so much for being interested! I have a tutorial on how to make feet stick on the ground, starting with a simple run cycle (no plugins needed). That will help you get the zig zag! and for the fall, I used a lot of reference :D

  • @stubblestudios9446
    @stubblestudios9446 Год назад +1

    This is so good. You have a lot of talent and patience.
    I have a small query to ask you. How to animate a run cycle which is accelerating. Like in most of the parkour shot, the guy picks up the pace while running and i still couldn't figure it out how to animate the accelerating cycle.
    So could you please tell how it can be animated?

    • @wearedow
      @wearedow  Год назад

      thank you so much 🙏
      ooh that’s an interesting question, I’ve never actually thought about that .. I’m thinking, if you create a base runcycle, and key the start and end for all controls, and the copy and paste it in the graph editor, you can use the scale tool to shorten the curves for the following cycles. it’s not a very “clean” solution to your question, but I hope that helps 😅🙏

    great video on your workflow! Curious on your camerawork. Was it constrained to a motion path or you animated the movement all by hand?

    • @wearedow
      @wearedow  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Shka_maru thank you so much! 💗 I didn’t constrain it to a motion path, but you definitely could do that, and get the same result! For this I key framed it by hand

      Looking forward to move of your work. I just start learning animation at an online animation school so seeing videos like this give me drive to accomplish my animation goals!
      If I may ask, 1) How are you today? :).

      2) I learned at Emily Carr University, and Griffin animation Academy
      3) I love animated movies, and always have! (I loved all the old 2D disney movies and studio Ghibli movies) and in high school, when I found out that animation is a job, that is when I decided that I wanted to do it too! Haha and I never looked back! I really enjoy it 🥰

      @@nikhilsolanki956 I did use the Editable Motion trail in maya, but mostly I just use the graph editor. But of course you should use motion paths or plug ins if you are more comfortable with that :D

    Alisha- I’m a budding 3D animator and this video has helped me a ton. And from one animal lover to another, I can tell how much love and care you put into this piece. The body mechanics are incredible. Do you have any excersizes you’d recommend to a beginner/novice like me? I feel like I’m struggling to make the jump to more cinematics like this.
    Also, is the bird character running throughout the shot and then you deleted some of its frames to add the stepped animation for the slide/crash?

    • @wearedow
      @wearedow  Год назад +1

      thanks so much for your question! For the running part, I just used my running animation loop (that was all splined), but for other motions like the fall and crash, I used stepped keys initially, and splined when I started cleaning up the animation. I hope this helps!
