But imagine that the Earth is tired and would really like to stop spinning for 1 second. Would this be bad? I mean, how bad can 1 second be? Not that bad I guess?!

Interesting side question. What if Earth didn't instantly stop rotating, but came to a gradual stop, stayed stopped for 1 second, and then gradually sped up back to normal speed again?

It isnt that not spinning for any length of time is the dangerous part. It's when it stops spinning, because everything would be moving the speed of earth's rotation. But for that moment it wouldn't be with the earth so we'd fly away from the spots we are at
probably what will happen to people in bunkers is if they know where stuff goes, they will be on the wall facing east. in the first few milliseconds, people fly faster than the speed of sound, probably making a very loud gunshot for people in bunkers. in around 17-18 milliseconds, there will be a gunshot heard probably all over the world. in around 50 milliseconds, everyone would be flying east, if they weren't in a bunker. in around 500 microseconds, people quickly accelearate to 2000mph, or around mach 3. the winds will be so strong, the ground cracks. that will result in earthquakes around as strong as when the dinosaurs got killed. the glass probably already broke, so they fly at shards moving at mach 3. every single person breaks bones, and most died when they got launched. many pieces of debris are now flying. in the unlikely scenario, some launches into space, while most rains, causing only a few things to survive this far. now there's as little as 1000 still alive in just a quarter prior. now the buildings fly away, so only people in bunkers are alive. only the fastest pieces of debris made it into outer space, while it's raining buildings. this is probably the worst mass extinction on earth. now the earth is a perfect circle. and now the oceans are moving. R.I.P basically all marine life. now there's tsunamis, but there isn't much bad things, because pretty much all the buildings are gone. there's now bodies flying. gross. at the poles it isn't as bad, but you are 100% dead. also, all buildings are 100% gone. if you were on a mountain when this happened, at least you're not too injured. but you're still so dead if you're not in a bunker. at least you didn't suffer. the astronauts don't see it, but they will cry when they land. now it's spinning again. but only a few people are alive, cells too. the people are bleeding tho. people traveled half a mile. now earth isn't habitable, we have to now start over to cells. now everyone died.

After 5 days is wrong....this already happened once, how do you think we are still here, the ancients talk about this, about the earth fire, the cracking of the earth, the world floods and the cutting winds, it wasn't a sudden stop though, it was gradual enough to make people react and try to find shelter, obviously salt water isn't good for previously perfectly good crop fields, but there are ways to fix that, we could farm...if you knew how to. The younger dryas event had too many things happening, more than simple asteroids or comets hitting the ice caps can explain, I think that was just a coincidence that it happened at the same time, or maybe they were dragged across space by something big, big enough to pull them in with Earth in their path, and big enough to affect the EM field of the Earth and cause it to stop spinning. Another thing this isn't mentioning, is that the existing poles won't be the safe ones, but the theoretical new ones...actually both are pretty much screwed, before the event, for a moment, the existing poles are safer, but during the event, they will be the most dangerous places, because the Crust will likely shift, the weight of the ice caps will drag it to the equator line...the only way this can happen is if the EM field of the Earth was disrupted, to the extend that the Earth stopped spinning, or to the extent that the mantle layer at least stop acting like a plastic and behaved like the molten rock that it is, the EM lost its grip on it, and it started flowing loosely again, this "lubrication" will cause the Crust to slide now due to the weight of the ice caps, if it happens before the Earth regains a spherical shape, then a lot of earthquakes will happen and the crust opening up, because Earth is oval shaped not spherical, the Crust sliding in the wrong direction, in a forceful manner, will cause a lot of destruction.
