This woman has the perfect attitude for living as an expat. Good job on this video.
I left there 36 years ago, and I CAN'T WAIT, until I retire there . MUY BONITA REPUBLICA de Panama, VIVA Panama.
I left in 1971 when I was 7 and in the process of moving back in October
Hello
It's so good to hear you say such beautiful things about my little country... specially about the people.
God bless you all, people from all around the world. This is yous house too¡ Mi casa es tu casa¡
Gracias.
You have a great attitude. You will learn Spanish. Welcome to my home country. I hope you continue to enjoy yourself.Panama City will give you the fancy restaurants, upscale venues and shopping that a city can offer...enjoy!
Lady your words were really beautiful about my country. How can i thanks you.
I got excite, when i listened her to speak.
@Charlie Austin good luck
I agree with you 100%. I have lived here for over 3years and they are natural humble kind and nice people aside the fact that they can be noisy and drive a bit rough .they are wonderful people you feel supported among them ,even if you can speak the Spanish well they will still go extra mile to help you. i am from Africa and do my creative art and craft business and I feel at home in panama.
I visited panama beginning of this year and yes its retirement worthy
Hey Thanks, Luv your crab story. What a fabulous attitude and I appreciate your honesty and real talk. People need to hear this.
This is one of my favorite vlogs on Panama she is inviting and comes across authentic!
Beautiful lady with a beautiful heart and lovely story
Thanks for watching the video
4:26 That's it! I'm moving to Panama. I like steamed crab. If they come into the house willingly, that's half the battle won.
This sounds like an honest response. I so appreciate that. This way you can make a honest decision and Panama sound fantastic
I love that you are committed to learn Spanish. Good for you!😍👍
Wow... I'm being pulled closer and closer to Panama instead of Costa Rica. Great video.
Why?
@@cajunjamis9001 Costa Rica is getting more expensive and it's already the most expensive Latin America country. And the Gringo pricing is going wild.
@@geraldbutler7124 , plus look at all the Americans being killed in Costa Rica.
Can I message you? I am looking into moving to Costa Rica but the properties I have found thus far are pricey. It would be nice to know someone there that could give me better insight.
Gerald Butler True about Costa Rica
The dog is so cute and seems to like laying there while listening to you talk. Looks very relaxed!
A very enlightening video. I have also been wondering about retiring abroad as an ex-pat. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience. Thank you, Carol.
Simple life with nature and great people is the best way to live💯🥂
Gorgeous and intelligent. Enjoy your retirement. I'm retired educator too and it's a lot of fun.
I've been thinking seriously about moving there, big move, I have to get rid my sh-ts and sell my condo, I have lots of friends in Peru, but it's get really cold during winter in Peru.
I love your location, I live in Florida right now, my HOA getting higher every time I open my eyes.I don't liked paying staying inside my condo, I'm outside person.
Thank you 💕
Carol is living her best life. 💓
Nice Carol. I grew up there and appreciate how you speak of Panama. I hope to be there March 2020 for a high school reunion. Going to Thailand in November and then Panama. Just a reminder it’s Pen- no-na-mey.. come visit in Thailand ,it’s great and you’ll love the people and culture. A cultural thing in Thailand is never raising your voice when you disagree, you’re considered to have lost the discussion when you do..
Hi Carol...loved your video. I am a retired nurse living on the East Coast of Canada. Very cold with lots of snow. I have been searching for a warm place by the water to retire to. I am Solo and want to live in a safe affordable place. You seemed to have found it! I am planning on booking a tour with Jackie. Thank you for being so candid!...
You are a true inspiration..thank you!
Wow, thank you! And thanks for watching the video!
Ohhhh, Thanks Carol, now I have another beach area to add to my list!!!! Great video Jackie!!
There are TEN beach communities between Chitre and Las Tablas. With 1500 miles of coastline, Panama has the perfect beach for you.
@@PanamaRelocationTours I lived in Panama way back in 1995 when i was in the Air Force, I was there for 2 years, sadly because of being in the military i did not get the chance to see most of the country, I will be retiring in less than two years, I would love to take a trip there and see if its the place for me to retire or to have a vacation home there, I am looking at Costa Rica as well, but your videos definitely have caught my attention.
How do i contact you prior to arriving in Tocumen Airport Panama city?
I will look for your website, there i will give you my e-mail address, lovely videos.
Great Video, I really liked your ending comments about not expecting your same life when moving to a foreign country, be flexible and adapt, its good for your soul.
Exactly! Life will be different! You roll with the punches. It's an adventure! It's NOT the U.S. you just have to deal with it. I'm planning on moving to Panama, I have a plus because I am fluent in Spanish. Therefore I think adapting will be much easier.
I left there 39 years .Mi esposo y yo retirados .,Pienso volver a mi Capuri .Yes your words really beautiful ,thanks gracias.
The secret is if u move to another country u learn that culture and live like Panamenians not try to changed
That's right. All expats and immigrants should respect the culture of the place where they move. This includes immigrants into Western countries.
@@LadyIarConnacht when in Rome.........
@Solitary Man Which is what? having an asshole opinion?
Partly true. There is much to learn from the culture of the host country. Tho Panama differentiates itself from the USA in that the USA expects you to assimilate into its culture by shedding your previous one whereas Panama expects you in integrate while still allowed to proudly keep some of your own. Panama is more like a melting pot for that reason and the US is more like a salad bowl. Because integration is less threatening and more inviting than assimilation wherein one is not fully accepted until one has shed every last bit of one's previous ethnicity. Plus, in an assimilative society physical differences, such as with colour which can make one stand out can assure one to always be on the outs than in the embrace of an integrative culture.

thanks for your honest interview:))))
Really nice discussion description about Panama.
Smart down to earth lady. Enjoy our country.
Great video. I am happy for her.
I love this woman.
Excellent-thank you! I’m a beach gal / prioritize safety & friendly locals, too so this is inspiring! Crabs no problem for me. Might try ground cloves sprinkled around corners of bathroom & other natural deterrents!
Great video, thank you for posting it.
Love it.. Great Video

I'm very much inspired by your video Ms. Carol very interesting and informative, thanks for sharing, very nice.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful info. Thx 🙏🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Very good information.
Thank you.
YOU are a very smart woman. you are making the best of what you have. I am Hispanic and learned English in Miami without ever going to school. I watched TV only in English and read the newspaper everyday. I did not understand anything at the beginning but little by little the brain started to catch up. my first mistake was trying to translate word by word all the time from Spanish to English and most likely you are also doing that but later you will find out that your brain does not work that way. Just watchTV and don't get discourage if you don't understand, keep doing it. Good luck !
Great advice! Thanks Mike!
Thanks for this I’m trying to learn Spanish
if you have the patience long enough to overpass the frustrating learning curve that you will encounter at the beginning then you will get it. the most difficult moment at everything in life is the starting point ( new job, moving, exercise regularly to lose weight ) don't quit, don't get discourage and give yourself the time to learn. look for programs that speaks slowly like documentaries and see if you can turn on the caption, it helped me to listen and read at the same time. it was fun trying to read in English at the same speed as the words were coming on TV. at the beginning I was far behind but still it was fun until little by little I was able to read the whole sentence with ease. every day listen and read Spanish
Mike. This is very good advice and is very encouraging. How long did it take you until you got to the point where your brain started to catch up? How long until you became totally fluent?
Reading a newspaper is an effective tool when learning a language. The paper starts with the date and day, and contains simple words such as places ,weather, sports, and basic verbs. A photo with a story translates the story for you. And you can study the text over again. The spoken word is lost in one second. I knew the nouns and reading a newspaper helped with the verbs. Do not try to read "Don Quixote'' in Spanish. Start with a newspaper, where new words appear daily.
Cute doggie! 😍😍😍💞💞💞
thanks for sharing
Loved your video. I'm planning to move in 4-5 years and have just enrolled in an online Spanish course to be prepared. I feel as you do....learn the local language!
Glad it was helpful!
Very positive mindset
Great life, yes tiene que hablar español todos los dias para aprender. Si se puedes! I got conversational on about any subject within 6 months , and I’m 66. So yes you can.
Carol's Spanish gets better every day
Lovely Lady and your information is invaluable. I lived in Costa Rica for 4+ years and now I’m looking to return to Central America and continue my retirement. How far from you is the dancing and surf beaches. The Pandemic has curtailed me returning but soon I shall return for a visit ... thank you and enjoy your peaceful spot ...johnnieray
Good for you Carol, I moved here {Las Tablas} 8 years ago. Best move I've ever made. Welcome!!!
Great video. Carol you are a very pretty woman! Glad your having fun!
Number one priority: the beach: YESSSSSSSSSSS!
John McInnes should just be life meaning food waking up to the best thing
Thanks for your authenticity and ability to really be candid about your experience. What city did you mention you were in ?
Carol was in Guarare for this video. She has moved two times in Panama since then.
seems to have it all sorted.
Thank you very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Well if any crabs come into my yard or house guess what? I would have a pot with boiling hot seasoned water ready and plop right into the pot, in other word steam crabs, Panama sounds like fun.
Lol
And we talking abou real good crabs BLUE with lot of meat. Seafood is so cheap you won't believe it.
@@miar.4507 lol I would fly out for the weekend just so I can eat crabs
B Russell 🤦🏽♂️
GUARANTEED!!! Im from MD..I don't PLAY!!
That is very common in PMA!!the crabs. You right!! cost of living is lower. Lots of good natural food with no pesticides.
This woman is very gorgeous.
looks very healthy as well.

For sure. I want an older woman like her.
I noticed that as well, more mature Queen, but in great shape. The video was nicely done. Thank you!
Get those ankles to meet her ears ......all night.
@cubomania3 Oh oh! Next thing they'll be coming to Panama. lol
Carol, I agree with just about everything you have shared about Panama. Been here over 21 years, although I still haven't fully adjusted. The one good thing you did not do is choose Costa Rica. I spent nearly 5 years there and simply got tired of guarding everything all the time. Let your guard down and you get robbed. My vehicle was broken into mid day in the town of Puntarenas by a female drug addict who had been released from jail a week earlier of good behavior after stabbing a man to death. How's that for leniency?
I could go on and on about the positive things about Panama which may bore some. Anyway, welcome to paradise as you enjoy the good life!
Thanks for taking about the bugs. I have arachnophobia. I avoid hot places. Even though it seems beautiful down there, I’m sure the arachnids are man sized because it’s a tropical area. Anyway thanks for sharing your story.
I appreciate your sharing. But if I may, I'd like to add that much of what you mentioned regarding fancy restaurants, you can find in the more populated cities of the major provinces such as Panama City or near David Chiriquí like in Boquete, which also has a variety of fancy restaurants, or in Volcán like the restaurant in Hotel Bambito. So, no need to travel all the way to the U.S. for fancy restaurants and of practically any kind or ethnicity even.
I do agree that in Panama most people go out of their way to help you, especially if they see that you come in good faith and you obviously come in good faith. People tend to help each other. I remember as a kid I fell asleep in the bus and woke up so far far away from my house I was far away in the country side. I was so worried because I'd run out of money and I had only the money to get back home but I wasted that money by falling asleep on the bus and getting off it far from home. So there I was at a far away bust stop trying to figure out ways to get back home and I was like trying to sell my pens and pencils and my old scratched watch and people just looked at me and some people got angry and others laughed and then a couple of machete men (macheteros) (they are men who cut grass with a machete) took pity on me and grabbed money out of their pockets and said, here, see that bus over there? That's the bus that you need to get on, now get lost! Run before you miss the bus. As I run I could hear more people laughing. lol I'll never forget and I never fell asleep on the bus again. XD
You're right! There are some amazing restaurants with excellent food in Panama.
viva Panama!
It's much better to move to Latin Am. and live for less than 1/3 the cost of the USA. You get a better food chain - more healthy!! LOVE those that have the motivation and interests to meld with new cultures. I'll move to live in Mex. once I sell my big house - spend summers there already.
Everybody in the U.S. is.
The right person did this video thank you so much beautiful lady and i hope you have fun & enjoy retirement there ...
Carol... I was wondering if you still felt the same way now after a couple of years in Panama. Either way, you are courageous and you have the true pioneer spirit of the original settlers of the Americas.
Carol moved to a different house not far away. She got her residency Visa and loves living in Panama. Look for other other video $600 at at the beach.
She has a new vlog and is now living in a $1200/mo condo on the beach
@@Angel-yl1ck Thanks for the info. I just recently saw her video. I posted that question over a year ago and much before I moved to Panama and got my jubilado visa.
I can tell your dog would be very protective, no need to fear.
I love your chewie, miss my little ones.

Lovely...
Wow
What a lovely woman.
Thank you for the compliments to Panama people, long time ago Panama was part of Colombia and I hear they didn't change the accent , need to fix my financial situation and I'll move there in 2 or 3 years
Maria, in that part of Panama, people speaks more like the people in Andalucia Spain. It's kind of hard to understand if you are not a native Spanish speaker.
We do not have a colombian accent. it is different.
I bet she loves yoga!! Nice video thanks,
Occasional power outages, lol, we have that issue in rural Alberta Canada several times a week as well so not a problem in my eyes
Power went out at my lake house in Texas once in awhile too. Usually after a big rain storm. When the power goes out in Panama, it is usually for just 10 minutes but could be for several hours depending on what equipment got damaged. If they have to replace transformers it could take a few hours.
@@PanamaRelocationTours It got so common here that we had to install a backup power generator.
Hey Carol 🌹
When I came to US everything was so different and u can't do what u do back home in Panama, so I have to change around my way and customs and follow all laws and regulations so now when I go back on vacation I feel connected again with my culture wich is very outgoing and open, in us u have to be careful how u speak cuse some people are very rude and nasty, but fortunately I met so many nice, humble and caring people they don't care who u come from just treated u right! I liked it here in US but miss my beautiful 🇵🇦🇵🇦 especially in holidays and the most I missing is the mother day on this coming Dec 8 that I can't be with my mom😖😢😔but maybe before the end of the year who knows 😱
It's always an adjustment to move to a new country. The important thing is to adapt and embrace the new culture and don't try to change it.
Smart and sweet lady,
Really liked this video. Where is Guarere?
Guararé

Is there a vacancy there? It looks like my kind of place... I’m coming the end of December.
There are a lot of restaurants in Panama city where you can enjoy a steak.
there are a lot of restaurants all over Panama where you can eat a really good steak. But perhaps none close to where Carol lives.. or she has not found them yet. I know one about 20 minutes from her house that is excellent - will let her know about it.
I am a single male turn 65 and looking at moving from the Florida keys to Panama. I enjoy social nite life activity and living near or on the beach. Listening to your video caught my attention and sounds wonderful. Do u recommend doing the tour or just go on the wing. I would appreciate any info u can to give Thanks. Mitchell

i think im in love ....so sweet... i am retired f.f. i think we can relate , wow gorgeous
I'm pleased to see that you are living well. I'm curious to know how you're able to live so far away from your mother and daughter you mentioned?
Lenny, Carol, like all of us living in Panama, makes frequent calls and video chats with family.
I believe that any USA-based cellular network provider will kick you off the plan after a period of time being out of the country on a permanent basis (6 months?) so it is worth looking into that. Eventually you would have to switch to a local provider
I love your baby. I have three chihuahuas babies.
I have 3 as well :)
Is the weather very hot at the beach? I want to move to Panama but not sure if I would like to live in the mountains? Undecided
Thank you for advice.
the beach is 90F (+/- 5) every day. plus humidity.
Check out the temperature & humidity...especially in the low country. just saying.
Some people like the hot weather at the coast and some people (like me) prefer the cooler weather in the mountains. The good thing is that Panama has something for everyone!
Can you please add a link for Jackie’s Tours that you referred to? Thank you!

LOL. Crabs are not really bugs.
Lol
Oh I love those crabs, put them on boiling water with salt and hot pepper, White rice with coconot oil and red beans, yum yum
She must have spaces under the doors where the crabs and scorpions are getting in - you can get this fixed. Also, you are able to go to fancy restaurants and get your steaks (didn't like her comment on this - a bit ignorant).
Students in Panama learn English at school, just like students in the USA learn Spanish or students in Canada learn French. Thus, most people in Panama have at least the basic understanding of English, especially in the big cities. 👍🏻
in that area, it is common to just leave your door wide open during the day. So critters can sneak in!
Hi I'm a single young senior myself. I even have a little Chihauahua like yours, His name is Marcello. He will be joining me of course. So are you sharing a house with somebody? Is your rent like $600 for a room or an apartment. I won't have a car. Is it easy to bring a dog to Panama?
Did you bring your dog from the US???
I got direct emails from Jackie of these Panama Relocation Tours that Panama health insurance will NOT cover preexisting conditions, for any price.
We have mentioned this in many different articles and many conference calls. It's not new.
