    Wait until Asmon learns that being fat and being skinny affects your in game stats...

    • @dracul1838
      @dracul1838 9 месяцев назад +94

      something like, if you are fat you have more HP/DEF and maybe a little bit more physical dmg&cant knocked down so easy,but the more you run/climb the faster and faster your stamina goes to 0 and if you dont recover your stamina to 100% and start running again at some point you lose HP.
      as skinny you can climb/run much faster without losing your stamina so fast,your attacks from behind are much stronger but you can knocked down much easyer,and your def is lower,but you can pass through narrow passages where maybe is a treasure chest hidden.

    • @xopegood
      @xopegood 9 месяцев назад +24

      Pommel bash didn't really work as a counter as it doesn't really provide any defensive value, it was more like a combo starter or a quick stagger tool. The new tackle move is more reminiscent to the Brace skill from Dragon's Dogma Online

    • @marcbraun5342
      @marcbraun5342 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@xopegood I think I see the problem. I think you're confusing a counter with a parry. A counter is when you interupt an enemies attack during the wind up or you hit him during his recovery, that's what I meant. And yes, it also worked as a stagger outside of attacks but it was useful to counter as well.

    • @xopegood
      @xopegood 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@marcbraun5342 I get where you're coming from, but I think Pommel Bash still counts as just a regular attack. A proper counter tool would be something more akin to Exodus Slash. By your logic, any and every skill that has the possibility to stagger an enemy mid-attack would be considered a counter. I likened the DD2 Tackle to the DDO Brace as it's not even a proper attack/counter by itself, but more of a tool that you can use to set up further attacks while still mitigating some damage

    • @arcanumelite4853
      @arcanumelite4853 9 месяцев назад

      the tackle attack in DD2 can be used WHILE CHARGING ATTACKS though... so you can use it even if your charging an attack without interrupting the charge allowing you to stun an enemy buying you more time to finish your powerful charge attack instead of being helpless for like 3-4 seconds while you stand there charging unable to defend yourself.

    • @marcbraun5342
      @marcbraun5342 9 месяцев назад

      @@arcanumelite4853 Yes, I'm sure it does something new that adds to the Warriors arsenal, they wouldn't have advertised it, if that wasn't the case. That was never the point, only to point out that the class had similar options before.

    The DDDON version of mage is more fun i feel. When casting, it gives u a mini game whereby there's a circle with points scattered around. you need to touch the points using the mouse in a specific order to progress to the next "puzzle". each completion gives you additional dmg multiplier. If you are proficient enough to memorize the movements, you can shorten the spell casting duration to insanely short time. The mouse movement kind of mimics the spell casting hand movement which i thought is quite amazing

    I personally don’t like greatswords being too slow if they look like irl greatswords,
    I have no problem with ones like the monster hunter one being slow but it just feet off knowing how greatswords actually work irl,
    the warrior passive that they showed to make your swings faster if you hit the button again at the right time is almost exactly what I want,
    I’d have personally liked it better if they also changed the animation for the faster consecutive swings to a spinning motion like you would use with an irl greatsword,
    I honestly like both greatsword styles and want to see both fantasies fulfilled,
    this pretty much feels like that and my only issue being an animation that I understand why they wouldn’t,
    both due to lack of knowledge and the extra time you’d have to spend animating it,
    I think it’s going to be very good. Looking forward to seeing another dragon with 3.4 billion health.

      even better when they changed the pummel as an extra ability instead of a skill, meaning you'll save 1 skill slot for other better skill, AND you can use them while charging your skill to make them more prone to be where the strike will land. Enemies have weaknesses and resistances. they also have tough body parts and weak body parts.
      If you try to brute force it with a poorly considered strategy, it can take quite a while.
      Take, for instance, Ogres. They will get more ferocious when there are females in your party (and they'll go after them specifically.). They are fairly susceptible to curse, torpor, and sleep. resistant to ice, freezing, dark, and stun. If you grab them when they are off balance, it's possible to topple them- you can also use certain warrior or fighter attacks as well. Their body and legs are fairly resistant to damage- their head is the most vulnerable spot. If you spend the entire fight smacking them in the legs with a sword, fighting them is going to take a while.
      And yes, it's possible to wander into fights against enemies stronger than you- though in my experience, that required going *way* out of your way.

    TLDR: Simple yet rewarding gameplay > flashy instant gratification gameplay.
    There is something to be said about how desensitized we as gamers have become. The instant gratification and flashy big bang booms of games nowadays has in a way made us all extremely impatient and ungrateful.
    I think the (newfound) appeal for games like Monster Hunter and Dragon’s Dogma 2 is that the slower yet managed pace and risk vs. reward of the different combat styles feel much more “weighty” and rewarding when you DO land the big slow hits or when you ARE agile enough to dodge and roll around not getting hit while slowly poking the enemies to death.
    The “conveyer belt of content” comment by Asmongold is exactly true. These games that focus more on a solid gameplay and NOT spoon-feeding you… I think this game will really bring to light the appeal of that sense of simplicity.

    The fact that the game isn't even out yet but there are reviews is telling. At the time of writing, the game is still 2 months away. A lot can change in 2 months. Guess I'm going to wait on that purchase. Especially now that game companies think that buying their games means we don't own them.

    The first one to me only truly got good with Dark Arisen content, I felt there were hardly any dungeons in first one till the dlc happened.
    I pray for the second one they give us numerous amounts of dungeons and not a DLC add on.

    Just like in DD1, quick travel is VERY limited. In our modern age of gaming, especially for extremely large worlds like this, the lack of quick travel options can be detrimental to a game's lifespan, but man... you have to respect any dev that presents a game and says, "No. You're going to play the game the way WE intended you to play it...".
    In before players discover a duplication glitch or a way of making your character teleport long distances instantly like in TotK and Elden Ring. Let me shield hop into firing an arrow so I can dupe a stack of Ferrystones or block while standing in a specific space between pixels while looking at distant spot where I want to jump to.

    What I would like to be addressed in Dragon's Dogma 2 are the vocation augments (passive skills).
    The issue I had with the first game was that there were just so many useless trash augments across all vocations but in order to maximise your preferred build you _had_ to level vocations that didn't necessarily appeal to you just to unlock that one really good augment.
    For example: I really liked playing the Assassin because it's mobile, does lots of damage and stupidly broken versatility but pretty much all the augments that come with the vocation are either highly situational night-time power boosts or just outright crap.
    The Warrior by comparison has practically no versatility, no mobility, no good way to actively mitigate damage and only moderate damage potential - especially in boss fights. However, three of the augments you can learn with the warrior are what you'd consider "essential" to have for any "physical" vocation with huge damage boosts and damage reduction and one of those powerful passives required you to level all the way up to rank 9 in order to get it.
    The same pretty much goes for mage vs. sorcerer. If you wanna be able to heal you have to play mage but most of the best-suited passives for the mage can only be unlocked by playing as sorcerer. It's completely bonkers.
    While it's nice when classes are diverse and distinct from one another and the ability to change classes relatively freely without first having to start a new game is a welcome convenience it's a bit of a nightmare for people who like to min-max their builds as the game not just forces you to rank up vocations you may not enjoy in order to unlock the ideal passives for your preferred class but also punishes you from doing so before you reach max level with your character because each time your character levels up the distribution of gained stats is fixed and entirely determined by the vocation you used at that time which discourages you from experimenting in the early and mid game unless you are willing to maybe end up with a less than ideal stat distribution at max level.
    It's just such a bizarre system that _seems_ to encourage experimentation and playing around with all the different classes but if you play nearly the entire game as a mage and then decide to switch to warrior you'll very quickly learn that you simply don't have the stats to last in melee or even deal damage. It's one of those games where you need to have a guide open on your second screen at all times just because the game itself is so damn useless at explaining its own systems to the point where it doesn't even tell you the gained stats per level for any vocation or where some in-game skill descriptions are just outright wrong.

      @adamb1593 9 месяцев назад +2

      agreed, the system was always a bit wonky, and while it doesn't bother me much now because i know how to max out vocations without much effort required, it's still not really a good system. My suspicion is that in DD2 you'll just be able to buy any augment as any vocation, maybe just tied to character level instead.

      I don't mind the mechanic because it makes sense. I prefer it that way than being to easy to get what you want for your build.

    • @nanObytez-kb5ru
      @nanObytez-kb5ru 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@jojr6825 Well, the most obvious fix would be to just allow people to rank up any vocation (once unlocked) regardless of which vocation you currently play as. Either through getting experience at a reduced rate while, dependant on how far removed the "levelling vocation" is from the "active vocation" or by using Discipline to convert "excess" exp from vocations you have maxed out.
      Keeps the system more or less intact for the super efficient players but gives people who maybe want a more natural / "immersive" progression where they don't have to worry all the time about making (likely) uninformed decisions about what to level in which order and whether or not it's the right lunar phase and all the planets align.

    one of best things about this game you can play and lv up each class with your main and pawn, than you can swap to different ones and lv them up aswell. but keep passives from others you lv up. The best thing from first game to this one thats even better is the ai learning, that learns how to fight mobs and bosses and doing quests more it does them. but in this one the enemy learn from your playstyle to. ive played first game so many times, one of my old fav games to play

    I'm looking forward to see the improvements made to this vocation in the second game.

    1:15 - In general, engaging action combat boils down to boss mechanics and freedom of movement. Those things alone can keep most players invested in a fight for a good while.
    Pressing 5 buttons on rotation and clicking your mouse button once every 15 seconds to move out of the way of an "attack move" is obviously outdated and just not fun for longer than ... 30 seconds. Thats the average tab-targeting experience. People pretend tab-targeting is engaging, but thats just because the content surrounding it helps build an investment. The mechanics of tab-targeting are mundane and tiresome at best.
