To all the people talking about replacing key fob batteries on every single YT video about the ADV350 starting issue - the issue described in this video is 100% nothing to do with the battery, take it from me. Also, Jack Wednesday, why are you turning the ignition switch without pressing it in first? To your keyless ignition, it's like changing gear on a manual bike without activating the clutch.
I own same bike and i agree with every word. Had about 2K km and 3-5 times it would take up to 10min to start. It's a known problem. All over the web if you look. And i believe Honda has to do something about it. Make a recall repair/replace, whatever... I also purchased a different windshield. But mine is clear and bigger. Touring type. Cause i feel too much drag on my entire torso when go over 110km/h, which i do regularly during season. So, thank You for the rev again! Drive safe and have fun!
I had the same problem with my Honda starting the engine. However, I realized after my friend told me that...to start the engine, you need to push the rear brake lever harder..You can't just push the brake lever a little bit..it has to be a lot harder...try it tell us the result.
I read about it, but in my case no matter how hard i pushed. It would not start for up to 10 minutes. Sucks when it happens. New machine and all. Just hope Honda will find a solution and do some kinda recall.
I bought one about a year ago. Exactly same issue with key/ignition. But it's such a fun and practical and value machine I personally can forgive this fault. Recommend big Givi screen, big top box and it's super practical. Understand the key frustration though. I'd like a TMAX but they're retail is 14k! ADV was 5.8k... On your last visit to bury hill as you were stopped by the entrance to leave , i just turned up on the blue 24 model . Got mine 2nd week of Feb , now with 1700 miles on it , no problem with key yet !! Found plenty of floods over the passed weeks never got me feet wet once
some Barcode Scanners are the problem which can interfere with KeyFOBs you can also have the same problem with immo chips in the keys (no matter if car or bike). so even if you have a normal key and u have an immo chip inside and can have the same problems....... thats not an honda only related problem, it targets all manufacturers but you can simply type in your keycode at those Hondas and start even without the KeyFOB
Relating to the key issue. I have the Forza 300 version and have had no issues with the key. Do you know that you can turn the fob off? This can happen in your pocket by accident and may be the cause of your issue. On my fob there are 2 buttons, the lower one has a key symbol on it. If you press and hold it it will eventually turn the led from green to red and this effectively locks the fob (ideal when you are say in a cafe and your bike is just outside the window and you dont want it to be nicked when in range of the fob). To make the fob active again press and hold again until the led turns back to green from red.
Also had no issues with my 2019 adv 150. Never had the FOB not work. Only thing that took a bit to get used to is that if you park it by putting the kickstand down(shutting off the bike) and you want to restart it and you put the kickstand up, it won't immediately let you restart, you have to "press" the knob for it to reset and let you start the motor. But I've never had any issues with the FOB.
My 24 plate ADV 350 in Pearl falcon grey was delivered last Saturday and I've so far covered 33 miles due to pants weather, im looking to get out on it tomorrow morning as soon as possible!. I really like it so far and I've just fitted an 'EasyBlock security system to it and I'll be using it for my daily 34 mile commute to work during the summer months. I've just noticed that KIA GT line S parked on your drive as I've got a 22 plate one exactly the same! Great car!
I hope Honda fixes the radio interference problem. I've had several cars with keyless ignition and have never had this problem, so it is fixable. I see the trickle charge plug under the seat, the small optimate 2 is brilliant for keeping bike batteries in new condition.
I watched another RUclips video ( can't remember the title ) that showed the knob locking and unable to turn if the seat/fuel switch is slightly off-centre ; just as the switch will not work if the knob is not in the correct position , the knob will not turn if the switch has some play and is not not quite central , being directly under the control knob it could easily be brushed slightly to one side while switching off . I don't know if this helps but thought it worth mentioning .
I took the bike down to the RLNI station down at Littlehampton ( good excuse for full english brekkie at the lighthouse next door ! ) the reason i did that was to see if all their radio , radar , equipment would upset the starting procedure on the bike , no luck , started up no problem , sorry but i did try
If you have a keyless scoot with a fob one thing i can suggest is put a duracell in the fob and put a spare under your seat for peace of mind..also carry the underseat key on the keyring with your fob
Have you tried pushing the knob down (like a button) before turning it ? Works for me on the forza. Pushing the knob tells the scooter to "look for" the key signal. On your video, at 6:10, you don't do it, you just force the knob to turn.
I had same problem with this key knob not turning. But that was a battery problem. And I think all users have same issue when it happens. What I can complain is that motorcycle did not warned me before journey. I bearly got back home. Anyway keyless is a FANATASTIC feature. What I do not like in ADV 350 is poor wind protection, short windscreen (accessories ones look ugly), too short driver seat, irritating single-cylinder metalic noise.
I've had mine for just over a year done about 8k miles. Have had the very same problem with my bike , has happened about 6 times. . last but one time i called garage out he fiddled with it put it on the centre stand and it turned straight away, just my luck. he seemed to think i was using too much force on the knob be gentle he said, anyway he replaced the bike battery although there was nothing wrong with the battery better to do something than nothing. After about a fortnight it happened again for 15 minutes i struggled with it and then i pressed both buttons on the remote and it turned. Dont know if it was just coincidence or what . took it to honda the next day for the second time at least and the mechanic sprayed it with wd 40 and said it was fine. Im upset with the bike and upset with the Honda dealerships who just fob you off. I dont think having a key is the solution Honda should be replacing the knob on bikes with this issue as obviously not all adv 350 are having this issue. like you I wouldnt buy another one unless Honda started to address the problem.
My new 2021 pcx 125 key did this, I call honda UK up and the dealer. The second bike SH350 key kept failure (with new key batteries. Told the dealer again. They should have a removable slim key in the fob like sym have.
Does it ever happen when you start the bike at your driveway ? Or does it only occur in the vicinity of shops or stores where frequenties may disturb the FOB ?

I’ve got the 750 version and I enjoy riding it more than my 1250GS, the only thing stopping it from being my only bike is lack of cruise control. Does the 350 have the option of using a PIN code to start like the 750?
No PIN code sadly. The 750 looks a monster, would love to have a test ride on one. Man i was afraid about what your major issue was. I dont have this issue on mine so far in fact, i’ve been loving the keyless fob.
