Your hot mess is not a mess at all! You did a wonderful job of fixing it. I did not think they were too big of leaves but we are always most critical of ourselves. A fantastic job and I like the color explanation!
Oh Sandy! You do know how to make me smile. 😊 I always know that when you have a video up it will be reasonably short, some laughs and lots of learning opportunities. 💕
Thank you for adding the hot mess because it seems like I have a lot but because of you I keep working at it and it gets better . Thank you for Being there and yourself.
I love how you don't give up and keep working those Copics until they do what looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing what you think of as "mistakes" with those of us who make those kinds of mistakes all the time. You help us see that there are solutions as long as we don't give up. Love this card too, by the way :)
Love the process because you teach us how to correct things when we're headed in the wrong direction. I wish more people would do this...I can't tell you how many things I've thrown away because I don't know how to "fix" it! Thanks SO much for sharing!
I like these oops videos, too. It shows not only that you are human (grin), but teaches us not to panic when this happens because even a “hot mess” can often be redeemed.
There is nothing better than watching an artist work through problem areas. We all do it and when you finish something that was a hot mess and triumph in the end is the best feeling ever! Don't give up on projects! Some of my best work was a failure 1/2 way through. Love you Sandy.
Love it, love watching you colour and paint, if I made a mess it would not be salvageable, this worked a dream, such a lovely card with the warm autumn colours and I do love the foreground, I am going to have a go at doing something like this, would have been one that would have been drawing leaves in instead of marks. When you look at the card your mind reads autumn leaves. Beautiful card. Di.
I am one of those people who appreciates seeing your mistakes and how you work through them. It makes me feel better about my own mistakes, because it helps me to know that if an artist like you still makes mistakes, then I dont need to worry about being perfect.
I don't use Copics in my card making, but I still learn so much from every one of your videos. Color theory, placement, 'story lines' :) , and most of all...Don't give up!" I have saved many cards by just sitting back and looking at my card and saying to myself "what would Sandy do?". THANK YOU for keeping the fun and adventure in this wonderful hobby!
Well, looks as if your hot mess turned out looking pretty darn good. If I could turn my hot mess into something that looks this good. Cute design. Great tutorial. TFS
Wish my hot messes turned out so beautifully! If folks out there want to learn to Copic color like this you should take Sandy's Copic Jump Start class. You will not be sorry!
Excellent card! Fall is the best time of the year! The colors are so beautiful and you can use lots of shades of yellow!!! I just retired and now I can get busy finishing my classes I have waiting for me, I plan on getting more involved with my art and "perfecting" my craft. I have so many ideas. People said I would be bored at home but, I have so much to catch up with. and I'm starting with the Fall scenes copic class! Right time of year!! Thanks for the video, Because I know I will have a lot of "hot messes" and I know I should just keep going. Diane
I agree with everyone when they say that your hot mess is copic colouring wonder! You are so talented and I love watching your videos. You are an excellent teacher and your explanation throughout the process is spot on. Thanks so much😘
I like seeing your messes as they are really instructive when I mess up. Learning from your mistakes is good but learning from other peoples mistakes is easier. So thanks for putting them, and yourself out there for us to learn.
how awesome! i learned so much! you're my favourite because of your human rainbow. i almost never see other ethnicities in stamps or cardmaking videos. thank you for sharing xxx
I watch all your posts and you are so creative. Love...Love...Love all you do. Even those you call a mess are so amazing and artistic. Thanks for all your inspiration you give us.
This turned out beautifully Sandy! Super helpful and instructive video, as always. I'm grateful for the time and energy you put into sharing your knowledge and skills. Especially thankful to you for colouring people with a variety of skin tones and cultural backgrounds. It is an ongoing source of frustration and distress to me that in the papercrafting world, both companies and individuals colour and illustrate as if people of colour do not exist. It is very isolating and upsetting, TBH.
Your card is beautiful, Sandy, I'm very happy you decided to post it, since I discovered 3 new Copic colors that I really love a need to have in my collection. The leaves look like leaves for me. To be honest, if you wan't say that it was a mistake, I would never know it, since I don't see any mistake.
Hot mess? Not so much. I pretty sure I have seen videos that alarmed me more (as hot messes go) and still turned out. What IS a great take-away (for me at least) is not to use too many colors (which I want to do). But, I'm listening and trying to keep it real. Thanks for such a cute card!
Hey Sandy...it must be my inexperience speaking here but I love the texture you achieved at the bottom of the card, throughout the process. I must remind myself that I can change parts of the image, like I love what you did with the girls' hair...I never think to do that. Always a learning experience with you Sandy, which is what I look for in every YT video I watch....I really appreciate you sharing! Thank You!
Would love to know why someone can't learn from the hot messes.. we all make them...Encouraging to know you can turn a hot mess into something you are happy with!!
Love how you made that work! I’m wondering, was some of that fix because your eye starts on the darker shades and moves up to the lighter shades, and ends up focusing on the little girls an sentiment because they are in the center (and obviously, in focus and in contrasting colors)? I noticed that just pulling in much more of the deeper shades made all the difference.
I think it's humorous what you call a hot mess, I wish I could get that far. ha ha Such a cute card. I will ask you this though, I hear other crafters say 'complimentary color' when they mean opposite and others say complimentary color when they are talking about colors that are right beside. ?? I know squat about art so, what's the diff? Yes, yes I do need take your classes!
Sandy, there is no such thing as a hot mess with your beautiful art.
Your hot mess is not a mess at all! You did a wonderful job of fixing it. I did not think they were too big of leaves but we are always most critical of ourselves.

I hope people really don’t give you a thumbs down for a hot mess. I love, love them.
Don’t know why anyone would “thumbs down” while taking advantage of wonderful free tutorials from an expert Copic and fine art instructor

Your hot mess is my copic dream. Any person who gives you thumbs down is a curmudgeon having a bad day. In my opinion.

Yep, contrast makes all the difference!

Complementary are opposite on the wheel. Analogous are next to each other.
I really love the leaves and hot done good tips but must say that girl on the left seems more Italian than African American.
I heard Copic prices are increasing 2019. Have you anything on that?
Haven’t heard...bummer tho!
Why is the hair fringe called bangs?
Ya know that would be a good question for google! Lol
Beautiful card!
