Seconds later we see that his banners are Red and Gold-The colors of the flag of the soviet union, in a blocky Sans-Serif font reminiscent of the Soviet Union, and the icon for his podcast is the symbol for California placed into a soviet heraldic wreath. Then he feigns ignorance as if there's no way we'd draw a reasonable conclusion that he's using Soviet iconography. "I have no fucking idea... Do you have a problem with red?"
The least he could do is own up to it and say "Yeah, I use Soviet iconography, but I don't think it's bad." Stand by his beliefs. But instead, he lies and obfuscates. If he was on the right-wing doing the same thing he'd be -rightfully- called out for dog-whistling or being so oblivious to cultural and historical symbolism that his opinion can't be taken seriously. As to whether he is a tankie, I don't know. it's impossible to really know what goes on in his heart and mind. What I can know though is that in this case what he said is not in accordance with reality and when confronted on that he obfuscates. He did lie, and that makes me less inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Is there any universe or dimension, real or imagined, where Mike comes off as winning this discussion? And to be fair, there were a few instances in this discussion where Destiny tried to get a few gotcha moments on Mike that was borderline bad faith, but for essentially 3 hours plus of this video, mike just grasped to any straw he could pivot to in order to try to find something he could get on Destiny.
I used to think very highly of Mike from PA when he was a regular caller into Majority Report. I'm just now catching up on these debates and holy shit! When he shouted at the econ undergrad in the other debate to demonstrate his self-reported "Chadness" and then this one especially, where Destiny surgically picked him apart in slow motion was really eye opening.
