I think the most difficult part of overhead smatch is how to tracking the ball and hit on the right time. Since the ball is not from your hand the same way of the serve ball. Some time it is too much far anteriorly, some time it is too far behind when hitting the ball. I guess no fix method for this just practice it often until I gain experience to tract the ball and hit on the right time.
The pointing at the ball was an old way of teaching people to get their non dominant arm up. I remember decades ago, Stan Smith teaching this way. Thanks for the as usual awesome coaching videos...way to go Ryan. Cheers! M
Great instruction! Love it! Seems like the motion is almost like the serve with the racket head knocking off the bday hat? Thank you Ryan! Your videos are the best!
Watch the pros. They turn with both hands and they don’t point. Pointing hurts your overhead. Pointing can be helpful for beginners to learn that the nonhitting hand does go up but it’s not really what you want to do. Thanks!!
@@2MinuteTennis Ryan- thank you so much!! Now I know why I have been mis hitting the overheads because of leaving the non hitting hand so early. Strangely the coaches still keep insisting on pointing towards the ball whereas the focus should have been properly unit turning and then pointing at the time of hitting. You are doing wonders to the club players like us!! Thank you again
@@IndranilBhattacharyaDhanbad It's actually very easy when you realize that the motion is basically the same as wit a serve. Just as Ryan said "reaching up is part of the throwing motion". Coaches should just teach that. Overhead is similar to a serve without you actually throwing the ball up.

I can’t focus on the explanations, because he keep scratching his back.
