My new Kenworth came with this. I'm so glad it does, I can actually not idle at night and stay cozy. Ps I use a drift mattress. Totally worth the 600 I got it for.

Use a small paperclip. That hole is tiny. I just tried with the clips I have and they are too big. I stripped the plastic from a twist tie and used it.
If you haven't turned your bunk heater on for a while, it may shut off the first time you turn it on. It may even shut off the second time you turn it on. Just keep turning it on, and eventually it'll kick in.
@@seanyoung8976 my truck is a 2020 Freghtliner and it has optimized idle which turns the truck on after using the inverter so the battery doesn’t get low and die then turns the truck off after about an hour
Have had issues with the bunk heater in the FLrs. Was wondering why it was getting hot in the summer. Found out the bunk heater was on. The power switch was off, and setting was all the way to the blue or cold setting but it was kicking out heat! Don’t know if anyone else has had a blast of hot air while driving but it really sucked. Maint found that a leaky water bottle in the cabinet dripped down the back wall and contacted something with the heater. It was awful. Anyone else have the phantom heater on without the power switch on???
The way they invented this they say it will only take a very little from the battery to start and that it’ll keep running off diesel thats why they recommend to run it only 10 hrs without having an impact on your batteries. Now if your batteries are old or in need to be changed then it might affect the voltage.
It uses VERY little power to sustain the flame inside the chamber and run the fan. Mine ran for 10 hours in a 2022 cascadia and opti idle didn't even come on until 7am.
No it does not. I have a 2022 cascadia and if you turn the ignition on it will disable the bunk heater, not enable it. If you have opti idle like I do, you have to have the bunk heater off, then turn the ignition to the on position, set opti idle to ON and interior comfort mode to "off" and then turn the bunk heater on. If you have it on and turn on the ignition it thinks you'll start the engine and it will turn the heater off.
It will shut off if the battery voltage goes below the set voltage so it doesn't drain your batteries. There are other videos out there to show you how to change the settings. Make sure your batteries/charging systems are good 1st.
remember to shut the heater off in the sleeper a minute or 2 before turning the ignition switch on. It needs to shut down properly or the spark plug that starts the fire gets sooted up then the heater will NOT WORK!!
You'll know it didn't work because it will do like mine did the SECOND time I used it in a brand new truck, instead of saying "heater enabled" it said "no flame detected".
My question is what do some of you do to re-humidify the truck? The Espar heater really dries out the air in they truck. So much it really screws up my sinuses. Dry skin, cracked lips, the whole deal. :-/
@@thechefsmokesexperience you can set the truck to acc power but only the fan will run. If your truck has idle auto shutdown, it should idle above 80⁰, what you can do is put a pregnancy heating pad, hot hands, or a laser on the outside ambient temperature meter, which on most trucks is a tiny antenna on the top of the roof. That will keep your truck running all night. But other than that there really is no way because the ac compressor is driven by the engine itself when the truck has no auxiliary power unit.

What about the air conditionner how to you put in on ? Or programme it?

Does it work for a/c, or is it heater only ?

I have a brand new 2021 international with Espar built in. I know how to use the heat but is there an AC option. I can’t seem to figure that one out.

Heat only

Does it kick on and off to maintain the cab temp of 73° or what ever temp you set it at? Or is that the temp of the air coming out of the vent?

Can you run it on just inverter power, without truck running or without a APU?

I've always had good luck with freightliner bunk heaters. I think your issue was primarily caused by that water leaking.
The bunk heater is the only amenity that came with my truck. It's basically just a day cab with a bed. Lol.
I use it even if I am just sitting waiting for my trailer to be done.

yes it does draw battery power and yes a webasto is similar

You gotta turn off the engine period when using bunk heater
