    Helpful hint: This may be of help to someone in the future. If you turn your
    key to "on/start" and hear no fuel pump sounding. Do this. Worked for me.
    Proceed to rear of car. If you have a hammer, or block of wood great. If not
    take off one of you shoes to use as a hammer. Get floor mat from car, and
    place it close to gas tank. Lay down on floor mat and using shoe as hammer,
    hit gas tank six or eight times trying to get electrical contact within fuel tank
    motor. Laugh if you must, if you are stranded try it...Nothing to loose. May
    work for you and get you back home. This is not a fix....only get you back
    home for fuel pump replacement or go to shop.

    A tip on the wear indicators. Yes, they always go on the back but also there's a right and left. You want the indicator to be on the leading edge of the rotor when it turns. In other words, when the pad wears out and the indicator finally touches the rotor, you want the rotor to push or drag the indicator toward the pad. If the rotor pushes or drags the indicator away from the pad it will break it off and stop squealing. On the car you were working on here, with front mounted rear calipers, it would have gone on the top of the rear pad. If the rear calipers are mounted on the rear of the rotor, then the indicator would go on the bottom of the rear pad.

    You should have replaced the caliper guide pins. I know a few extra dollars......
    Just cleaning it off isn't going to last long.
    Also, why did it get corroded? The boot probably isn't holding the pressure it is supposed to hold.
    Just cleaning it up and putting it back together is a great way to give good mechanics a bad name.
    Always replace corroded hardware and bushings on the brakes. I live in the salt belt and do plenty of work like this.
    I would never just clean it up like that.
    Upset customer in less than a year doesn't bring in good business.
    It is a waste of your time and your customer's time.
    Just add new bushings and hardware into the initial estimate, if it isn't needed than great. But if it is than use the new parts.
    I am not trying to be rude.

    When you changing brake pads do you have to take the master cylinder cap off so no air won't get into the system ?

    • @Asto508
      @Asto508 3 года назад +2

      It's more the issue when you push back the piston you apply a lot of pressure on the whole system because you are pushing the fluid back up. In the worst case, you ruin some seals and then it's needs to be replaced. Air can't get into the system though, that is more the issue when you bleed the brakes. The optimal way is to open the bleeder valves when pushing back the pistons, so all the pressure goes out there. Of course then you have to check whether your reservoir is still full enough as you are losing brake fluid this way.

    • @carterthemechanic9955

      @@Asto508 so you don't have to remove the brake cap

    • @Asto508
      @Asto508 3 года назад

      @@carterthemechanic9955 Well, no, you don't have to, but it lowers the chance to do some damage because then the pressure is going out easier. If you leave the cap on, the pressure has to go through a very tiny hole (because it has to go somewhere) and that raises the overall pressure in the system.
      The optimal way is to open the bleeders and don't push back any fluid at all.

      Clean up the battery terminals and check the battery wiring for corrosion. Check the charging system fuse(s) to see if it's blown and check for proper voltage at the fuse to see if it has power getting to it while the car is running.

    • @Asto508
      @Asto508 3 года назад

      First of all, check with a multimeter if the voltage is sufficient. Should be at 12V when off and around 14V when engine is running. If everything is fine and the light is still there, then it is either a bad wiring from the battery to the ECM or it's an issue with the ECM itself. If it doesn't cause any other issues and you are sure that your battery is fine, then just put a sticker over the light.

      What the f***? You call yourself "car mechanic" and don't even know how a manual transmission works? He was in first gear and obviously pressed the clutch when he turned off that engine. It just rolls in that state. Some people park their cars in 1st gear to give it additional resistance along the parking brake. He just did it in a smooth way.

    You accidentally put the wrong key in your car and it locks you out from starting it for 30 minutes? That’s pathetic! And the engine shouldn’t even crank with the wrong key. What the heck is Nissan doing?

    • @Asto508
      @Asto508 3 года назад

      The cranking is quite likely triggered by the key itself (circuit on the lock), but the engine control is checking the transponder signal. I think it is not that unusual for older vehicles that not the whole car is completely controlled by electronics.
      The 30 minutes seems a bit random though.

  • @warehawk

    Wow so you can get locked out of starting your car for using the wrong key? What the heck are you suppose to do if it locks you out and you're not at home? Imagine accidently security locking the car when you're out in the middle of no where. What a stupid system

    • @orinmangar2333

      @@orinmangar2333 He said here this customer bought a key, it wasn't programmed at the place he bought it and it was used. How would an average customer know when the key is programmed or not?
