I have had a GMK NucBox with the J4125 for probably about 2 years now. I never tried gaming on it (beyond solitaire maybe), but it is great as a little web surfer, and I am pretty sure the footprint is even smaller than the system in this video. It's perfect for someone that just needs to do light work on the computer, or do some web surfing.
The N97 only works with one ram channel. Intel HD graphics are pretty hobbled to begin with, but single channel ram is the kiss of death. For less money you can get a used mini PC with an i5-7500t or ryzen 2400G without that problem.
watched eta prime making a video on a minisforum small pc like this but the difference is that that little pc has amd 7840u and radeon 780M ,and it even looks smaller than this thing .
I actually bought one kinda like this (Bosgame N95 CPU, DDR4 3200MHz RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, Windows 11 - about $200 on Amazon) but not to game on. It will replace my moms older HP Slimline PC. She doesn't play anything like I play so it'll be perfect for her. Ya competitive e-sports probably a no-go, AAA games definitely not but for basic web browsing, email, HTPC or maybe easier to run older games it's pretty good for the size & price.
I bet this would be a good emulation pc, probably up to ps2 at most @ 720 or 1080p. Maybe throw it in an older pandoras box in place of their pc & load a custom or premade image on it.
These are also decent for a retro emulation PC if you don't plan on going beyond Playstation 1 levels. The under heavy load temperatures are rediculous though.
I actually have something better than this that is about the same size. It is the Minisforum EM680 which is 80mm Square and is powered by a Ryzen 7 6800U (up to 35W TDP). It is powered by either of its two USB4 Ports (yes they both do PCIe Tunneling aka Thunderbolt 3), has 32GB LPDDR5-6400 RAM, and I have a 2TB WD Black SN770M (2230) M.2 in mine dual booting Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu 24.04. While its not nearly as powerful as my 4070S ITX Rig it can really keep up as long as you lower settings and expectations. Either way it handily beats even these Alder Lake Celerons as AMD has Intel beat in performance per watt by far.
The "N" series is more akin to the old Atom series while the new "Intel Processors" (Intel 300) & "U series" (U300) are more akin to Celeron series. Man their new naming schemes suck. lol. Anyway... other than a Minecraft/Roblox, Home Theater, or Emulation/retro PC the only other major reason for these things to exist is just for office settings really. Still a N100 is still better at, or less than this model.
I was about to buy one of these mini PC but during my reach on their performance I realized that they are not good for gaming. I wanted one to work on my photography, office work and gaming. They were 2 out of 3. So I bought a gaming PC last week and that worked out for me 🙂👍🏻
Oh God just buy a used ps 4 or xbox one. A xbox one is 119 dollars or buy a xbox series s 300 dollars. The only use this pc has is typing a paper for school.
It's definitely not easy. What you could always do is try to find a PC without a GPU and just a really decent CPU and a case large enough to accommodate one and buy a GPU when you can afford it, just using integrated graphics until then. Not ideal but it might be better in the long run
Matt, sorry but slow down when you talk. I don't think you realize how fast and almost crazy you sound bro.... Calm down, nobody's chasing you. Just for advice homie 👍🏿

If you are going to try and emulate Linux Tech Tips then you are going to have to do much better than this. The title does not accurately reflect on the content but it does highlight a fair degree of arrogance that will actually deter subscribers, which is very poor marketing. Gaming actually covers more than just AAA. Had AAA been in the title then it would have at least given the viewer the required information required to come to watch in the first place, with clear enough expectation of what is to come. Demonstration of what such a machine is not capable of is fine but when an obvious reality in respect of AAA gaming is shown, then this could of and should of eliminated the need to go further, with more emphasis on what can be done reasonably well, including emulation, which was completely absent from the discussion. The whole partially taking it apart at the beginning was unnecessary and best saved for a more general review. But there were two monstrous epic fails that insulted viewers with it's elitist mentality that was staggering. That this would not be suitable for competitive gaming. is ridiculous because people like to compete at different levels and often just for fun. Not every competition in life is aimed at Olympic style levels. Then there was the one that also showed great stupidity. That of this being suitable if you are around 12 years old and playing your first game. Computer games have been around long since the two of you were born and so the spectrum of ages of people that play games is vast. But the dismissive and elitist tone of the comment demonstrates a rather poor attitude to others that will soon find it's way into other presentations, if it has not already done so and actually harm the channel going forward.
Hey I’m currently running a 16 year old monitor and it’s starting to not work I was wondering if you guys could give me a new one (it doesn’t have to be amazing 😅

They should rename this PC the thermal throttle cube
Perfect for a channel named Toasty Bros
Those temps for a 12 watt power draw for the CPU is unacceptable in my opinion
Yeah, it throttles easily but MX4 fixed it completely. (Video online)
Those temps are wild for a cpu like that.
Can i have a Microwave?
no
How about a toaster? 😂

200-300 usd for this pc is super expensive.. you can get ryzen mini pc for those prices..i got an n100 16gb ram 512gb ssd mini pc for 130 USD
watched eta prime making a video on a minisforum small pc like this but the difference is that that little pc has amd 7840u and radeon 780M ,and it even looks smaller than this thing .
I'd definitely use it for a streaming box or to write paper.
seems like it would be a good emulation machine to hook up to the TV
I could see this being a very good emulator machine
Oh it is...

What a pointless review, you didn't stream videos to see how well it worked. You didn't test it for anything it should be good at.
Play diablo immortal perfectly,
Would make for a decent little emulation and streaming box. But even then, you can still get a bit better for both at that price point.
That thing is a beast for retro gaming on linux
I think if you had to use it for gaming that emulation would probably be the ideal use case
I wonder how this would work for video rendering (1080p) vs my old AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 820 Processor
desktop with 16 Gb RAM?
1:13 to skip ad
Will it run Sims 4 with mods?
I'd love to see you guys try older AAA titles on it like the original Borderlands, Far Cry 3, or even something ancient like Half Life 2.
The mini PC can stream 4k games with Steam Link app at maximum video quality? Nobody has tried to do it
can this be used for a dual streaming pc use this for encoding and output for twitch?
cool video, the n100 has 4k uhd graphics .
Wasn't the larkbox smaller?

90 to 95 degrees is crazy
Is your store in lousiville ky?
I believe so. You can Google it.
Yes!
There is a mini pc on Amazon that going for 229$ and it has an 11500b 16gb ram and 512gb ssd maybe you guys can review it
Ive got 3 all media PC's I take one away when I travel and plug it into the hotel TV they can also run off a power brick LOL
install something like ghost spectre then optimize it, it will be capable of competitive gaming
I wonder if they realize they can change the power wattage settings
the only way this thing could hold its boost clocks is if you put it inside of a fridge while gaming
hold up.... you might be on to something
@@ToastyBros you can use my fridge.
I'll stick with my Minisforum em780 :P Similar size, much more capable but, also much more expensive.

Need a video of this thing hooked up to an egpu
Why it's 4 core any modern egpu would see bottleneck

quad core that benchmarks Passmark at 5000... it would play anything if it had a discreet gpu, but...that ain't happenin'...wait...USB C external?
A game you should try is blood strike when benchmarking its a mobile shooter but it also on pc
2 core celerons were garbage. the 4 core n95/n97 are pretty solid
still think its crazy you can use ddr4 or 5
I didn't even have twitter till I entered the giveaway but I need a computer to do some studying so fingers crossed
A water filter. 🤣🤣🤣
this pc emulates up to ps2 native res np. its a sick lil emulation machine for retro shit
a good personal server i wouldnt use it for anything else
