I won't buy parts from anyone else, unless I absolutely have to. Lowbrow Customs, customer service is above and beyond anyone else's in the game BY FAR. Very informative RUclips channel, always answers emails and calls very promptly. They will go to unbelievable lengths to get you fixed up even if that means sending you somewhere else.
But that's a Dyna. It's got chain cams. dohc that's why I like my shovels so much. I dont care what anybody says about them .best bike Harley almost built. That is to say once you've gone though them and fixed all the Harley f#$k ups I think my 70 had close to 300k on it with two said rebuilds when I lost her. I dont get to go to heaven caz I sold my 70 and 71. I got nothin to ride there.
@@thedaily30 without watching the video again I believe he was talking about one bike while having another on his lift. One was a chain driven and one was a push rod. But today if you buy a none Harley you never have to adjust the tappet clearing aka valves.
Would love to see him do a cam plate video for twin cams, or more big twin videos in general...This man is by far the best I’ve seen on RUclips at explaining things in a calm, thorough way that makes you feel like you can do it.
Firstly can I just say thank you Todd not only did you teach me how to service my bike but it also gave me a chance to teach my 15yr old son as well . We had a good father son bonding time with it . 🤙
As a fellow mechanic I would like to say ,"well done mate, you made it interesting and informative while still keeping it in the real world...its not rocket science but its important to do it right, spot on .
THANK YOU!!!! Riding all my life, but my first Harley. I've ridden around with first gear slipping for a year.....you just taught me how to tighten my primary chain........wow bro....if u could see the smile on my face after that first little rip around.......thank you!!!!!🐗
Right on TODD. GOT my LBC banner hung in my shop, I'm the envy of the neighborhood, now I can actually work on my IRON and know what I'm doing cuz of watching you and Tyler and the crew. THNX FOR THESE VIDS. LBC4LIFE.
This was great to just watch while I folded laundry. Also, kudos to the person who went through and listed where every maintenance step starts in the video. Thats some dedication right there.
All I can do is like and subscribe, but don't underestimate the value you're providing. While you may say "It's simple, no big deal" it's an extremely helpful education to those of us learning how to maintain our bikes. Thank you!
I just went through my 2003 883 with Todd on my iPad & changed the oil, primary oil, adjusted & lubed my clutch, adjusted my cam chain, replaced my (worn out looking) spark plugs, checked my belt, AND replaced my rear break pads with another video LBC has posted with Todd. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEOS! It’s like hanging out in the garage with a pro patiently walking you through every little thing. My bike is much safer, oh, & now I know what pressure to keep in the tires too ;) Thank you a million!
Thank you for your in depth video. It’s been hard for me to find information. I’m a new Harley-Davidson owner and only been riding for a little over a year. This video was very helpful for me to learn some of the basics. You have been very helpful. So again, THANK YOU!!!!
Dude you’re a life saver. Was gonna take my outer primary off to adjust primary chain then I found out what the nut and Allen bolt are for. I’m about to go test ride and see if that primary noise is gone. Thanks again. You’re the man I’ll be buying the manual from your shop next pay day.
"Click"😀 At last iv found some vids both informative and easy to watch .... i find many vids will bore a glass eye to sleep but watching this dude is time well spent ....
I have to say this is the best ever video, as showed it so in detail and not making it seem so complicated for a woman(of 69) to do all of this themselves. Thank you so much for this video, I truly enjoyed the calm and stress free feeling. On the Custom 1200 (06) is it just the one drainage to change for primary and transmission as seems I missed that part. Once again thank you so very much for this easy, important, informative video. I have been in disagreement with hubby all the time about the tire pressure, thanks for clearing this up for me, my bike, so from now on will check my own tires and oils as well as spark plug. Will be ordering the oils from you. Have a wonderful day.
Love this guy. If I didn't live several thousand miles away in UK I would certainly go to his shop to get my Harley serviced.😂👍. He reminds me of the Scottish comedian Billy Connolly what a diamond.
Fantastic video! I just bought a 2003 Sportster XL1200S and wanted to know how to give it a tune up and your video provided all the information I needed. Thank you so much!
As a tech, been wrenching on cars and bikes for 25 years, i love your vids. Very informative. A couple ways to skin a cat. I love learning different things.
This is awesome first vid for me to find on this. Dad just left me an '89 Sportster,(thats been sitting for years), and I really have very little clue on bringing her back, but it will be my biggest project for,(however long it takes). Definitely will look for more vids like this one, as well as best options for cleaning oxidise & rust off from sitting. Great video...Thanks!
I don't own a Harley but I enjoy watching Todd do instructional videos. He's a good teacher. Does Lowbrow ever do live (in person) motorcycle workshops? I'd love to take a vintage Triumph course or workshop.
Just bought me a 1995 sportster 1200 with Round 6k on a crate evo motor rebuild. Stoked on the deal I got, But YeeHaw for living in Texas bein able to ride MOST of the year. Thanks for the walk-through!
as a new owner of a 2004 sporty, I'm more grateful for this video than ever.... besides being great content, its great information and delivered well... great stuff
I've serviced by bike for many years. We have the same standards when it comes to lube and anti-seize. Learned two things from your video: The first, being the wire to check rear alignment of wheel. The second, sticky throttle. Thanks for the help! New subscriber!
...Tnx man, we love PM videos cuz they help us not to break stuff ! FYI; I try to remember to stuff an oil rag under the oil filter to catch/divert the used oil before unscrewing it. Happy wrenching y’all😃 Uncle Fudd < N.PA
This is the No. 1 best video I have ever watched on RUclips and I have been watching since its inception. Todd is a great communicator on top of the fact that he is indeed quite knowledgeable. I love my Sporty and Todd has outlined in good fashion just what I need to satisfy him, or her, not sure maybe she/he transgender, lol.. Sometimes she's a sweetie other times a stud. Lowbrow Customs is the ticket. Thanks guys for all you do.
I am too happy to have found this guy! I used to have a 74 and 75 sporty..worked on by myself sometimes with supervision..lol But the he does and explains this just brought everything back to me like I was right there doing it again! it has been some years and now I am starting over again with a 2007 Sporty 883..electric start of course. All I can say is thank you very much lowbrow customs dude!
If you have a tight filter that spins the wrench that cups the bottom of the filter, you can put in 2 or 3 self-drilling screws into it with your impact driver or drill, and then it will not spin.
Fantastic video for maintenance on HD's. Plain English. Good of you to share your knowledge. Subscribed! Soothing background music too. Thanks from the UK
I am located UK. Been having a long heatwave, mostly. I am chomping at the bit to get Dyna ready and legal for a ride. Cold Turkey and then some. :0) Great video.
As in your opening statement after your bike sits all winter and you blast off 1st warm day with 10 psi of air in your tires is not good i can add to that with experience! I had installed a set of favored adventure bike tires on my dyna cafe racer / tracker / hooligan / cruiser and discover great handling on dirt and pavement wet or dry ..so i got the bright idea i would let the air pressure down a bit from 42 psi to 32 psi thinking would be better on those crack patches on old concrete paved highways ... And the first time i dived into one of my favorite left handers marked 40mph max at my usual 65 mph plus like Valentino Rossi my tires felt like they were wadding up just before they come off the rims during experiencing a puncture though after I return home to change my underwear I pumped my tires back up to 42 if this tells you anything. LOL
Best 10 bucks you can ever spend is gettin one of those el cheapo battery tender cables for your battery and keepin it on your bike! I got one on all my vintage and new bikes that I ride. Saves you on a lot of problems
Thank you so much for sharing this very informative video that you have made in an interesting and enjoyable format. This video is very helpful to HD newbies which is what I am. You now have another subscriber.
You crack me up "you do have a workshop manual don't you" haha. Anyway, I'm a newer rider and have a HD Sportster 883. I plan to do my own bike maintenance. Someday I would like to build my own bike. Thanks for the great information!
When you put it up for winter, you did run the gas down 'til you hit reserve, and then put a generous amount of ATF in the tank and ran that into the carb, and then you turned your petcock to Off and then ran it dry, didn't you? Wait a minute, I used to have a bike with an aluminum tank. So now, do I store it with a full tank of gas? Will that prevent it from rusting?
Just a quit word about your primary and rear drive chains. You always adjust your chains on the tight spot, just keep rotating the chain until you feel the tight spot and adjust the recommended up and down play from their. On many big twins, i STRONGLY recommend pulling the primary cover off and torque the compensator nut to spec, they are notorious for coming loose! And at the same time you can check the wear on the nylon chain adjuster. The little inspection hole cover is really kind of useless if you really want to inspect the primary internals properly and save yourself major problems.
Hello, I am trying to find help with front forks, like checking for fluid or if they need new O-rings or whatever. It is not very pleasant when going over bumps or holes in roads, If I could avoid them, all is ok, right? lol..tyvm!
Great video. Wish you had more close up shots on the bolt and screw location so I can better find them on my bike. But overall a great video. Thanks for sharing
Always, and I mean always, check the air in your tires before each daily ride!!!!!!! I start by bike and let it warm up. As it warms, I check the tires. A small tack or nail could cause a slow leak over night and you will not notice it in the early morning hours as you are still waking up. Half way to work, you must pull over due to a flat. Always, do a pre-ride air check!
Don't stop doing what you're doing, that was Awesome! As a first time Harley owner, this was invaluable. Thanks a Million.
Lol
Best one liner - "You do have a Workshop Manual, don't you?"😂👍
Yes. Because 2 motorcycle enthusiasts with many many miles and mini shops said to get one
I find em at swap meets, RTFM
and i started nodding my head and saying "Yes Sir" 😹😹 The way he looked at the camera 😲😹
Once again explained in a simple no nonsense way that I can understand and actually do confidently. .. dig the humor

Almost 1h watching this and you don't see the time passing!
Just great! Thank you!
I could watch Tod all day!!!! In fact I have watching Triumph engine builds, brilliant!
I trust this man, on the sole basis that he refers to parts as “Chinga”. 👍🏽
This dude for president. This is so much more fun to follow than a checklist. Great practical common sense advice.
Yea...nice to see he's not 16yrs old & covered in ink. Real.
@@markwinchester3005 yea or a doddling, senile, crooked as a snake bastard either!!!!!!!
This is actually a pretty professional tutorial. I'm impressed! Low Brow Customs are lucky to have this guy!
