I have to get one of these soon! I had bought my mom the leathersoft brown personal size a couple years ago and had planned to get a purple one for myself. I changed my mind after getting hers because the paper was so white it hurt my eyes and the same for all the red accents. The drop caps being red was a distraction and to much for my eyes, but I love this gold so much! The paper not so bright white and the gold accents really draw me to this. I love all the white space and it just lays so nice without having to really fight it to stay open. Or get carpal tunnel trying to open it enough to read the words going into the gutter. I really really love the look of this!
Just purchased mine! I'm really looking forward to getting it. I'm not sure why Bible publishers are averse to having margins on all sides, but this is the first one (other than the mega premiums such as Cambridge, Schuyler, and Allan) I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to get this!
Just purchased this bible for $70 in geniune leather. Im sure there are alot of bibles better than this but i cant sink $250 in a premium at the moment, maybe one day. Im just gonna use this bible and do the best i can with it and try to learn about Gods word.
Just put some art gilding on it and it looks better than almost any premium. Honestly I enjoy premium bible stuff but it’s also kind of absurd and I think it’s great some people are making affordable bibles that look as good or better. Maybe if you want an heirloom but otherwise the only thing I truly find better about premiums is the paper feel and that’s still debatable since often-times the cheaper paper is thicker and has the same or less show-through.
Mine just came in...and I think this is what the Sovereign Collection should've been from the start. The gold drop caps look great, but having them and the page headings in gold really breaks up the red in the text. A great decision! The white/gold/red/black colors go together really well, whereas the previous edition felt almost too red. The paper feels good and looks good, but it's not as easy to turn as the previous paper. That's actually my biggest complaint, but I'm sure it'll get better in time. I know they had to change the paper to make it suitable for writing.
Hi pastor Randy, how would that 9pt comfort print compare to the readability of the Cambridge wide Margin or the Ruckman wide Margin??? Would the readability better, equal or under those🤔
What KJV Bible would you recommend for starting a handwritten commentary in? Got the idea from Matthew Everhard’s notetaking video where he shows his interleaved ESV. Options seem limited in KJV.
Excellent question! I recommend the Notetakers. You can get it from Church Bible Publishers, LCBP, and The KJV Store. The KJV Store is releasing a high-quality version of it, but I'm not sure of the release date.
Thank you for the review. I got the genuine leather version and it was disappointing in the quality control. The ribbons had gold tips, ink on the pages, Knicks off of the leather was peeled off, gold characters bled though some pages...just a hot mess. Needless to say I'm returning it. I ordered another and it's better..ish. It does have calkaling but it's doable. The leather has some imperfections but honestly I'm prob gonna get it rebound if I keep it. Not to impressed with QC. Hopefully they will get it under control.
Sorry if I missed this in the review. But does this edition explain words that have changed meaning like the Westminster reference bible? If not, do you know if there are any wide margin editions that do?
Awesome review as always! Thank you for your time and effort in doing these reviews. Do you know if the printing in India is going to be the norm for all future printings from Thomas Nelson? That would be great.
I heard back from my contact: "Not really. We use printers all over the world, and continue our long-held practice of identifying and partnering with the most skilled and technologically capable printers who can produce beautiful Bibles."
Great information by the way, & presented very well. I would be all in with purchasing the bible, but the RED LETTER aspect has me holding back. Curious question here...but you mentioned you preached several times...can you share whether or not you're a pastor, & if so, where might that be & your formal education if you have one All the best to you in your search for truth, *MARANATHA!* *EDIT:* I just went to their site & only see the NKJV available, not the KJV.
@@BibleBuyingGuide A quick follow up question if I may... While I u/stand a wee bit about the GSM/ghosting/etc (I looked those things up after your mention, ha), it seems some PENS have an ink that is maybe more absorbent, maybe more permanent, etc, so are there any recommendations as far as the writing instrument goes? Thx again!
@@BibleBuyingGuide if you could look at Romans 6 and the Epistles of Peter. I saw a copy in a store and the verse numbers were on top of the text in the NKJV. Not just close but it was overlapping. I hope this was just one bad print edition.
I was hooked and very interested until you mentioned and showed the red letters in the New Testament and I became unhooked immediately. Other than that, it does look like a very neat Bible. But I can't stand red letter Bibles. I absolutely hate it. I wish there would be an all black letter edition of this or the NKJV version. Really great video though.
Probably the biggest disappointment is the binding. Not saying that Thomas Nelson makes a bad Genuine Leather. In fact I think they have really improved it. But when it comes to a bible that I think the general use is note taking I feel like this bible isn't going to last much past a year for a person reading and note taking everyday. I really wish they would put out at bear minimum a cowhide bible just to have one that will last. The only reason I say that is I have there genuine leather study bible and it is a nice but It isn't my note taking bible.
I heard from Thomas Nelson. The paper is 39gsm.

A very nice review, I preordered the NKJV. I hope it had all the same features.
Thanks! I got the NKJV today. It doesn't have the lists in the back, but everything else is the same.

Do the leather and leather-soft use the same 39 gsm paper? God bless your brother! Great reviews.

Yes!! I'll be posting that review soon, but I have a few Bibles ahead of it.

Thanks for the info. It seems like there is some quality variation in these.
A masterpiece. Made with skill, with zeal.
Do you see a man skilled in his work?

It does. It actually has more than the Westminster.
@@BibleBuyingGuide That's great! Thanks for getting back to me and for a great review as always.
Hey! Great vid. What is the difference between the black leather soft and black genuine leather? (Other than the price)
Thanks! Other than the cover and liner, everything is the same.
Thank you

Is this Bible a small bible? How does it compare to the Cambridge wide margin in size ?
Have this bible. The only thing more I would want is a concordance like the 749 page concordance they put in the new KJV Strong's Reference bible.
I'm wondering how this compares to the CBP Cameo wide margin.
Great information by the way, & presented very well.

Can there any good (theological) thing come out of the 19th century? (Cf. w/ John 1:46?)

Just buy cambridge, schuyler or allan KJV bibles...
The headings need to go.
If they could make this with full yapps, they would dominate.
