what a solder re-flow? melting the solder at the joints to let them re flow?

yeah im a bit confused here too, i thought it was soldering the parts but the video just shows a heat gun and a metal sheet? then a soldering iron and some tweezers?

Hi. I have a Chuwi Hi9Air tablet. I want to replace digitizer. I have opened it to view how to unplug battery before replacement. Unfortunately, battery wires black and red are extremely thin and soldered on motherboard. Is there any trick to make battery unplugged without unsoldering these two mini wires? I do not think I could success replacing them successfully back.

It's hard to say without seeing the device layout. Both sides, there is no opportunity to disconnect the wires? Then you can try clipping the wires in the middle and reconnecting them afterwards. (Clip them one by one, don't let them touch each other.) You can make a connector for easy connect/disconnect. Take care not to damage the leads where the wires meet the motherboard.

@@insightfulcoffee4059 Thank you for answering and your time. Me too have thought of your answer. Cutting wires somewhere in the middle and reconnecting them afterwards. But they are extremely thin to do such work. Both sides of wires do not help unplugging battery. One side as I wrote, and the other somewhere inside battery. If I unsolder them from motherboard, then, soldering back, if solder from a cable goes and expands to motherboard, will damage all motherboard or it is ok?

@@yiannisserpico2646 If it's carrying battery current, then it can't be too thin to make a connector in the middle of the wires. It should be possible to solder or crimp some pins to the wires for insertion into a small connector, and use heat shrink to make the connection strong. Otherwise, you can clip the wires and simply reconnect them afterwards (twist together, add solder, heatshrink overtop). To answer your question, if extra solder makes it to the motherboard, it should be fine as long as it doesn't bridge some components on the motherboard--i.e. don't connect anything (trace, resistor, capacitor, etc.) that's not meant to be connected. Only work on the pads where the wires connect.

@@insightfulcoffee4059 Thank you one more time for answering. Just one last question. For such a thin devices such tablets, in case someone (such me in my scenario) wants to use as you say a small connector for small wires connection in a tablet, is there any special small connector for such cases and such thin devices? If you could give me a youtube link to see such a video or an url image link to see it? Or if you could suggest me google search or youtube search to see it? Thank you!

@@yiannisserpico2646 Yes, I understand space is tight. There are many kinds. You can try a Micro JST connector. Molex makes some very thin ones too. General search: "ultra low profile connector", "micro connector". If still too thick, you can skip the connector and twist the wires together, add solder, and protect with heatshrink.

i have a chinese windows tablet changed some bios settings and now it shows blank screen do you have any idea how to reset the bios? someone said i could unplug the bettery from the system the connector seems pretty much as yours in teh video how do i get it out

Englishexperts Hi, I think it depends on the type of tablet you have. If you can find out the model, you can Google search for how to reset the bios for that model. Unplugging the battery is as simple as decoupling or unplugging the connector that attaches the battery to the board. That might be part of the reset process, but I would expect a bios reflash software tool of some sort.

Insightful COffee thanks for reply i think i could try unplug te battery maybe it will reset the bios shame taht chinese tablets boroken when you just mess with the bios settings!! ok that white connector do you push it from the back or from beneath? can I show you the connector

Englishexperts Push the side the wires attach to from the outer edges, gently. Left side and right side, together. Test gently until you see exactly how it comes apart. It just slides out. Don't force anything with too much pressure, the key is to be gentle. It would be good to measure the battery voltage too if you can in case it's dead!

When I try to charge, the tablet behaves as if the charge connector is being disconnected and reconnected. Is this a battery issue or a charge port issue? Can the charge port itself be replaced without replacing the motherboard?

    • @insightfulcoffee4059

If wiggling the cable and holding it tight at an angle affects the issue, and assuming you tried different cables, it's likely a charge-port issue. They often become worn with use. Depending on the device, it can be an inexpensive fix by replacing the daughterboard that contains the charge-port.
