Sucker Punch 6. 300 7. Snow Steam Iron 8. Justice League (fuck Johns, Whedon, and Berg☺️) Snydercut is gonna be fucking rad I can’t wait. So glad to see this director appreciated more recently by the general fanbase.
Fuck. I love Zack Snyder. It’s odd that I feel I always have to explain myself for liking such an accomplished director, he’s garnered so much hate/unnecessary bias against him. Really great video Roby.
Great. Except for two movies I agree with the ranking and I completely respect it. Awesome video. Do one like this for the director of blade runner (he is now the new director of the dune movie) I think that video would be awesome too.
Honestly, I'd probably love Snyder's work if he just paced them better. Visually they are all amazing and genuinely breathtaking, especially Man of Steel and Watchmen. My only problem is that some scenes stretch on for too long, while some deserve more time. If he just edits them a bit better, he'd be in my top 5
You get Watchmen as a movie better than anybody I've seen on the Internet. I always scratch my head seeing criticisms of the film saying "it over stylizes superheroes and shows off their coolness like it's Batman!!" Yeah that's kind of the goddamn point: he's relating his movies to other movies.
Snyder is the best Visual director I've seen! hands down. Can't wait for the Snyder cut. By the way how do you feel about the Lord of the rings and Hobbit series and Jrr Tolkien? can you do a video on him?

A vision like Snyder's, with real ambition, that swings for the fences without fear, is more compelling than a thousand summer blockbusters meticulously designed by a committee to succeed at marketable mediocrity
I am glad I saw this analysis of Zack Snyder films. He gets a lot of stick from film critics for his style such that it influences how one feels while watching his films. I have often left the cinema having watched his film by simply dismissing his films as simple "That was just a whole lot of Snyderisms." It is a non-objective analysis to be that dismissive. The film 300 I think was an unfortunate film for him to have made. It stands as a monument to some of his flaws. It often colours my view of his other films. So, I am really glad I saw this analysis to correct my perspective.
What I love about BvS and a lot of Snyder's work is its surrealism. MoS and Nolan's DK trilogy were going for "realism" and it works, but BvS almost had to go dramatic. It's operatic.
@Bobo Boy well for me, Snyder definitely gave me 6 perfect films so much that I think that His weakest film is his flawed film only . which is his Sucker Punch extended cut. I still love that movie, but that movie is below 95 but above 80. It Had Perfect Ideas I wanted but execution, Not so amazing or great but not bad at all.
Thank you for your point about making fun of superhero MOVIES. I feel like people do overlook the fact that Watchmen’s changes were in service of a different medium.
To me Watchmen is his best work, when I was in junior high I don't like it but after I grow up I can appreciate more of his vision in Watchmen, especially when he visualized the birth of dr manhattan
I love your ranking. The only Zack Synder films I didn't see were Dawn of the Dead and Sucker Punch, and I saw some parts of Watchman on TV. I think most of his films are really good and extremely underrated. Also, can you rank the Tim Burton and M. Night Shyamalan movies?
I'm going to argue that Style IS Substance even in 300, where the last scene is the only "real" scene in the film and you realize all the flashy action has been a propaganda film to hype up the Spartan army. I find it similar to something like Verhoeven's STARSHIP TROOPERS, but 300 winks even less at the audience.
@@kartikadewi3270 no, it being devoid of meaning means Zack Snyder just wanted to shoot some cool slow motion action scenes for the sake of it. I like the film but let's not pretend that there's anything deep going on with it

Saying 300 is "style over substance" or "a movie about nothing" is...interesting, to say the least. The message and commentary in that film are blatantly obvious, honestly. Even if Zack's take on the subject wasn't anything special (which it is) the story itself is incredibly poignant and timeless. The idea of fighting for/dying for something more than yourself is beautiful. I agree with a lot of your points on other films, but your take on 300 couldn't be more off. Cheers though from another Snyder fan.
There is nothing profound about that film. It's very surface level in fact. And it never lands really because you don't care about any of the characters
What? No mention of _Michael Jordan's Playground (1990)_?! Oh I see how it is, some documentary bias going on /s (Great video! Not enough people go through a blank check director's entire filmography! 😊)
You know, I am so tired of Zack Snyder. I don’t think he is a mean person or lazy in any sense but I believe that his films are the definition of movies that talk profusely but ultimately say nothing. I am also exhausted from his fanbase that I feel can be way too quick to dismiss any type of criticism. So believe me when I say that I thought that the passion in this video is simply infectious. I never thought I would be excited to hear about Snyder ever again in my life but you have certainly proved me wrong. (Also it’s funny to hear about that owl movie, which I only now just realized is my first Snyder film) If you want to do more director rankings, maybe Villeneuve, in anticipation of Dune, but honestly if you want to go INSANE , go Jodorowky. It probably won’t get as many views but after watching your Dune video, I checked out The Holy Mountain and HOLY F*CK , love it or hate it, you will never forget. Even if you don’t make him your next topic, I BEG YOU, check Holy Mountain out if you haven’t already. I need to die knowing that I drove at least one person to that insanity.
Internet Dinosaur I won’t deny that people can be WAY too harsh to his fans. And I don’t believe that every fan of his is like that. But the bad interactions I have had with his fanbase far outweigh the good. I’m fine if people love his movies but I’m not fine when people claim that opposing views have no validity .
Also I haven’t really been on social media for that long so maybe the bashing of his fans was a little before my time and I just didn’t get exposed to it as much
Man, glad to know I'm not the only one who thought Doomsday Clock was not a good comic. I felt it was solid until the last couple of issue where it devolved into the corniest, lamest attempt at saying... you know what, I have no idea what was the idea behind the whole thing. But seriously, Superman talking Dr. Manhattan into having hope is the stupidest thing I've ever read. PS: Sucker Punch essay when?

Man of Steel is probably my favourite film ever, or joint top. It's fantastic in everyway.
Personally Zack Snyder is my favourite Director of all time!
I love all of his movies.
He is not always perfect, but he gave me 5 perfect movies.
1.Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition
2.Man of Steel
3.Watchmen Director's cut
4.Sucker Punch extended cut
5.300
6.Dawn of the Dead
7. Legends of the Guardians owls of gahoole
Snow steam Iron is still magnificent!
Nice and handsome list, Roby!
:)
I suggest you to try to observe Marc Webb movies.

That's for all the people that say Zack Snyder "didn't get" Watchmen or "missed the point"
I just gotta say. I LOVE Zack Snyder!
Yes is the answer
I unapologetically absolutely adore batman v Superman. It is my favourite superhero movie ever made. A epic fucking masterpiece. And I’ll defend it until the day I die.
Ok finished the video, awesome ranking. I still gotta watch the Owl movie but this is my personal list:
1. Batman V Superman: UE
2. Watchmen
3. Dawn of the Dead
4. Man of Steel
5. Sucker Punch
6. 300
7. Snow Steam Iron
8. Justice League (fuck Johns, Whedon, and Berg☺️)
Snydercut is gonna be fucking rad I can’t wait. So glad to see this director appreciated more recently by the general fanbase.
Fuck. I love Zack Snyder. It’s odd that I feel I always have to explain myself for liking such an accomplished director, he’s garnered so much hate/unnecessary bias against him. Really great video Roby.
perfect ranking
Thank you, my guy
I whole heartedly agree with your top 3 picks! Zack Snyder will be remembered as one of the greats. Can't wait for Justice League!
Great. Except for two movies I agree with the ranking and I completely respect it. Awesome video. Do one like this for the director of blade runner (he is now the new director of the dune movie) I think that video would be awesome too.
It's awesome to come back to this channel
In my opinion, Watchmen is in my top 10 movies ever made
Wes Anderson would be perfect for a list like this imo
I think Snow Steam Iron is a masterpiece :D 300 is my number 1, Watchmen is my number 2
Zack Snyder is the 🐐 and I don't really care what no one else says.. my F'ing onion.
Everything 👏you 👏said 👏about 👏Josstice👏 League 👏was 👏on👏 point!👏👏
Josstice league sucks
Snyder is the best Visual director I've seen! hands down. Can't wait for the Snyder cut. By the way how do you feel about the Lord of the rings and Hobbit series and Jrr Tolkien? can you do a video on him?
long live the Snyder Cut baby
I'd love to hear you talk about Nicolas Winding Refn and Robert Eggers. Them and snyder are my 3 favorite directors.
Robert Eggert only has two movies... lol
@@robinnadjiZ maybe Dimitri Gonzales love those 2 movies so much.
@@robinnadjiZ Nosferatu (Egger's next film after The Northman) better be as good as it's hyped up to be.
Notification Squad Present!
love to see it
(1) Watchmen
(2) Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice
(3) 300
(4) Dawn of the Dead
(5) Man of Steel
(6) Snow Steam Iron
-Cut off point
(7) Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
(8) Sucker Punch
(9) Justice League
Josstice League 🤢🤢🤮🤮
@@doomsday4311 Horrible. Snyder is still the name on the docket
@@michaelleahy9265 there's a movement called the "Release The Snyder Cut" for a reason
@@doomsday4311 I am aware of that. But you wouldn’t not include Alien 3 in a Fincher ranking just because he says that’s not his film
@@michaelleahy9265 right, but Zack hardly had any of his film in Josstice League, crediting him is ridiculious
That video and your conclusion of deepfake technologie in films is deep.. 😊
Thank you for your affords and great content ideas on film! 👌🏼😇
I COMPLETELY agree with your point about the "iphone" movies. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First! Love from Thailand brother!
Thanks man!
Question. We are all excited to watch JL Synder Cut, but do you think there’s a risk of us convincing ourselves it’s great on first viewing? I’m think like a lot of people did when they watched Phantom Menace for the first time.
Syder is my idol
I kinda like how divisive he is. His aesthetic is really unique.
There was interferance with the theater cut of BVS.
I love the aspect ratio lmao
Second comment: I want to say More about zack I think he didn’t deserve the hate and definitely some evil jerks says reason why his daughters hanged her sect cuz his films are bad 😡😤 how really unhuman you are said that too broken director?! I hope those people got karma and I love his 300, Watctmen, man of steel and BVS he respect the source material but well he made Batman a killed that only I disagree about zack but i think he really practice and improve his writing plot to the high level many scenes are didn’t work that just bad and some scenes that are chiema masterpiece I really love his style directing like lighting, camera angles etc it’s look good I hope DC fans and Warner let him countine the DECU series after Snyder cut
A vision like Snyder's, with real ambition, that swings for the fences without fear, is more compelling than a thousand summer blockbusters meticulously designed by a committee to succeed at marketable mediocrity
King 👑
Edgar Wright, I'm a huge fan and most video essayists are so I would love to here your take. Personally I love Hot Fuzz!
I’m not a massive fan of Snyder but I love watchmen but that’s the only one I rlly like properly.
Legend of the Guardians isn't really a kids movie. Look at how dark and violent it is, I mean Metal Beak gets stabbed at the end.
and in my theathers, LOTG is the first animated film that is pg 13.
@@kartikadewi3270 That's cool.
@Bobo Boy Sadly, WB didn't want that
Because
THEY HATE ZACK SNYDER.
It's Sad.
But I wish Zack can do another sequel story for Sorin again.
@Bobo Boy well for me,
Snyder definitely gave me 6 perfect films so much that I think that
His weakest film is his flawed film only . which is his Sucker Punch
extended cut.
I still love that movie, but that movie is below 95 but above 80.
It Had Perfect Ideas I wanted but
execution, Not so amazing or great but not bad at all.
@@leeobrien2004 in my opinion,
Zack's 5 movies are in my
TOP 10 MOVIES EVER MADE
Thank you for your point about making fun of superhero MOVIES. I feel like people do overlook the fact that Watchmen’s changes were in service of a different medium.
To me Watchmen is his best work, when I was in junior high I don't like it but after I grow up I can appreciate more of his vision in Watchmen, especially when he visualized the birth of dr manhattan
Denis Villeneuve? Not sure I spelled that right.
Except Starship troopers is a smart parody of the novel itself while 300 is completely devoid of meaning
@@lospolloshermanos6800 the devoid of meaning is supposed to be depressing that the war is nothing but pointless.
@@kartikadewi3270 no, it being devoid of meaning means Zack Snyder just wanted to shoot some cool slow motion action scenes for the sake of it. I like the film but let's not pretend that there's anything deep going on with it
My ranking:
1. Watchmen
2. Man of Steel
3. Dawn of the Dead
4. BvS: DoJ
5. Sucker Punch
6. 300
7. LotG: OoG
I wanna see you do a ranking of john Hughes films. He was a filmmaker who did have a visual style of his own although he wasn't an auteur type. Plus his films still hold up to this day and he did make a pretty big impact on the film making industry
Hey, my girlfriend actually despises Owls of Gahuul because it does such a bad job of following incredible source material. Could have actually been a great thing or franchise.
That aspect ratio... 🔥
Bold move to be positive on Batman v Superman. Not many people (mostly the DC fans) like it. As for me, I didn't like it at first, but then I started appreciating the style and acting. While I think some of the writing was not great, I thought it was cool with action.
Which writing you don't like ?
Chris Terrio or David Goyer ?
or both of them ?
@@kartikadewi3270 Chris terrio because rumor went that he wrote that "Martha same name" scene. Though I'm not sure. It's possible.
@@lizafootfor5471 That is true. Not a rumor. Chris Terrio did that Martha scene.
@@kartikadewi3270 good to know. So my answer is Chris's writing on the film. Don't know which one of them wrote killing off Jimmy Olsen scene. Still makes me upset to this day ☹
@@lizafootfor5471 That Jimmy olsen killed it was Chris Nolan's idea which is his controversial idea.
im surprised sucker punch's up there
but i guess ranking ordered dont really reflect how *INTENSELY* one likes about a film
ofc i agree, Zack's DC films are waay up there as far as his work (and CBMs) go
In order of favorite and down
1. BvS UE
2. 300
3. Watchmen Directors Cut
4. Man of Steel
5. Dawn of the Dead
6. Legend of the Guardians
7. Sucker Punch
Would love to see a Denis Villeneuve ranked video.
Zack Snyder is my favourite director now
Hereditary? Now that you've mentioned you're not into horror that much, we want your review on Aster and Eggers films. Get us those reviews 😤
(Also it’s funny to hear about that owl movie, which I only now just realized is my first Snyder film)
If you want to do more director rankings, maybe Villeneuve, in anticipation of Dune, but honestly if you want to go INSANE , go Jodorowky.
We've dealt with very unfair criticism. Where were the people calling toxicity when the haters were attacking anyone who loved him for BvS?
Internet Dinosaur I won’t deny that people can be WAY too harsh to his fans. And I don’t believe that every fan of his is like that. But the bad interactions I have had with his fanbase far outweigh the good. I’m fine if people love his movies but I’m not fine when people claim that opposing views have no validity .
@@AE-su4wq Yeah, I won't deny the toxic fans as well
Also I haven’t really been on social media for that long so maybe the bashing of his fans was a little before my time and I just didn’t get exposed to it as much
Internet Dinosaur Thanks for being reasonable. May you jump over cacti in glory for the rest of your days
Honestly, he should stick to horror. Dawn of the Dead is definitely his best movie
is the theatrical cut of Sucker Punch okay to watch?
yes it is fine.
On Man of steel:
"Every character means something"
Lois Lane: *Looks around nervously
That is the whole point.
Nervous feeling
Not sure if this is done intentionally but I like how when you talk you use the same aspect ratio as the snyder cut trailer
Or at least a similair aspect ratio
It’s all inspired by the man
