This is for Chis. I saw the comments on the video on you both answering questions. I saw the comments were harsh on you. But I felt like people didn’t understand what you both were saying. I wonder if they didn’t understand what I saw. And I realize that they didn’t understand what you both said. Please don’t take that to heart. You are a person that to me that needs clarity on how to handle your daughter. Know that you’re a wonderful parent and your wife is a wonderful parent. But you have two different ways to handle your experience with an autistic child. Know that We are viewing you as observers of your experiences. I don’t live your life and I only see a minuscule amount of your life. I love your perspective and appreciate your perspective. Live your life the way that works for your family. Love your content.
I noticed she is very intuned with her father, really giving him long eye contact and seem to be very cheerful around him. Very telling, so cute 😊

Mikko is progressing well. It’s a lot of work for you all but look at how far she’s come. Praying for you all that you continue. She’s your baby and God knew she would require some “extra “ love on this journey called life.
As a parent of a special needs kid, I know when confronted with the reality, you kinda subconsciously steel your resolve and you bring your A game, because you have to. She seems too be a pretty happy kiddo overall and that's because of you two. She feels loved, which is evident. That's fundamental. You've got this.
I just cannot believe how amazing you guys have done with her. I've commented on so many of your videos. I have worked with kids all over the spectrum, but I Have never ONCE seen any parent whatsoever work with them OUTSIDE A CENTER AND AT HOME like you guys have. I mean, PERIOD. Never. It is incredible, her emerging speech.
She's going to be just fine! I have a friend with a daughter a year older. Mom and dad took her learning in their hands and lead the way, and that lil princess will be starting 1st grade next year (with a helper)! You two are awesome parents. Never allow anyone to label your babies.

Doing the Happy Foot Dance for her! Wonderful for you all. I remember when all our non-verbal grandson did for over first three years was to scream every minute when awake. Or until exhausted. Then repeat. We were sure he would never, ever speak or make eye contact or have friends or be employed. He now has electrical engineering degree, earns an incredible living, is a project manager for huge corporation, makes eye contact and has loads of friends! One never knows. You can do everything "right" with little to no progress. Or everything "wrong" and "Ah-ha's" open. Doing all we can is the best plan. Sincere affection, patience and gentle persuasion, plus, perseverance are beautiful blessings. God be with you.💖

Mikko is so adorable. My little girl Morgan is eleven, and that is exactly what her speech sounds like. She's not reading Flash Cards yet but she is repeating a lot. So I use that as a opportunity to get her to use her voice more to request things.
Hugs to You and little Morgan. My brother is 55, who was Austic and they didn't know what to do with him. Believe it or not my brother is high functioning, articulate, and methodical.

Mikko has made great strides in just 1 year. You'll are such good parents. Just your patience speak volumes. She is an adorable little girl, and it's my prayer that she progresses cognitively and coherently as she grows. Two of my nephews and my niece are autistic at different levels and degrees, but the one thing they have in common is that they are highly intelligent. One nephew is 15, and he speaks Japanese but never sat in a classroom to learn it, and his brother, who is 13, has more of common sense. My niece, who is 4, is verbal and still learning. As for not understanding mikko, it's almost like when I'm trying to understand what my 2 year old granddaughter is saying, and as she repeats it sometimes I understand sometimes I don't but she is progressing and so is your daughter. I pray more people will be added to your channel because they would learn so much from you guys. It's refreshing to see her dad very much hands-on as well. Blessings..and im praying for you.

I get what nonverbal is, but Miko is speaking and she does communicate..its just in her way. And as much as she has progressed in the last couple of years, I'll say that she will be pretty communicative when shes older. You have no idea how much she will progress 😊❤❤❤

The level of kindness, patience, and understanding you have with Mikko is rare. So many kids with disabilities don't get the help they need and they are misunderstood and abused (intentionally or unintentionally).

Hello. My name is Robbin Craig, and I just watched your blog for the first time. As a teacher of students with disabilities, mostly non-verbal Autism, I think that you guys are doing great with Miko. Since she seems to do better with visual cues, have you guys ever considered sign language to combat the non- clarity of her speech. This allows Miko to keep the control that she needs in communicating with others and it will help everyone to be on the same page ad she's communicating with them. Of course, you will still use verbal language with her, but while she's still young, sign language could be quite useful. It has helped me with my non-verbal students. Also, they use a tablet with icons on it for certain words. I hope this helps.

My 3.5yr old and Mikko mirror each other very closely. I’ve gotten 2 evaluations so far and I feel like they’re masking her sensory issues and being nonverbal with her intelligence. I’m being told that she’s fine because even her nonverbal cues are well within context. But as a nurse of 15yrs and a mother of 3 I know tha she’s autistic just high functioning. You guys are such an inspiration and I’m thankful to be able to follow your journey❤️

It was so impressive that she could see the similarities in the placket of her dress and those on coats. She's a smart cookie! And her determination and patience is to be commended too. Am very proud of you guys that's good parenting. I have an almost three year old boy who is exactly the same as Mikko when she was little... I have no idea where to start from.

Mikko is so adorable. She has learned so much in just one year. She gives this man such joy to watch her interact with mom and dad. I always love her hair whether puffy like at 3 years old or braids at 4. Chris sure loves his daughter and takes time with Mikko to explain and knows just the right things to say including sounds. Precious, you are always so considerate and know Mikko so well and ask just the right breakfast questions. So wise to begin with the pancakes and then possibly add the bluberries or raspberries. Mikko struggled a bit with eating the pancake bites but eventually got the fork in the right position to get a bite which made her so happy. When she goes to the bedroom she wears those adorable pajamas and tries so hard to please every request of mom and dad. Mikko is a little 'lovebug'. She aims to please. I will predict that in 14 or 15 years, she will be the most beautiful woman full of love and tenderness. Chris is good at self criticism which goes a long way to keeping a happy home and family. I miss Maenzie and Matthew when they are not in the video as they too are adorable and so well mannered. Great job Chris and Precious!! Your family is in my prayers.
