He really doesn't get the credit he deserves for his T.v. dad role on Smart guy, i thought he did a great job. People sleep on this show maybe because it only ran for 3 seasons, but this was one of my favorite family sitcoms growing up
Me and my sister was standing next to him in line at a McDonald’s in the UK years ago. My sister asked for his autograph, he is a really cool and down to earth kinda guy.
The Floyd Henderson character doesn’t get talked about enough when we dicuss black TV dads. He was a great role model for his 4 kids (Moe wasn’t his biologically, but might as well have been lol)
Loved him as the dad and watching the show in general! Also, i loved the Robert Townsend, Flex Washington. the dad from Family Matters and Fresh Prince just to name a few. RIP for the actors that are no longer with us.
Salute to this brother I’ve not watched much “smart guy” but I will always have respect for black actors who played positive father roles because we don’t have much of that today on TV and it’s sad when weird cases come out over time that would tarnish their name like a Bill Cosby. I’ve always had a lot of respect for James Avery, John Witherspoon, Damon Wayans and many more it’s true these black men taught us a lot almost like the dad some of us didn’t have
He was a true TV Dad for the generation. They didn’t give him what he deserved. Same with plenty of black sitcoms ; my brother and me, sister sister, one on one. I could go on.. they were GREAT dad Role Models ❤
They definitely need to include a scene where Obama was trying to spit Eminem’s loses yourself lyrics. I get a chuckle 🤭 here or two whenever I see it on RUclips.@@jaimesmith2266
Oh wow He's Human . Sheesh I feel like people fail to realize most of these people in Hollyweird and human and make mistakes and habe insecurities . Also those that gone unnoticed are the most talented . Father roles like that were a lot of times like he mentioned what many men and women needed . Look at today how the Black Father is seen now a days , absent , abusive ect ect . I knoe he played a character but mamy people do not see this often times in real life . There are good Fathers out there
he definitely needed more roles was my favorite sitcom dad over all the 90’s dads and bill cosby i have a dad but he was never home(long haul semi driver) so floyd was the one keeping me in line while my dad wasnt around the life lessons on smart guy for a black kid were amazing and helped me grow as a man
One of my favorite TV dads! Wasn't Steve Urkel the first black genius?! Not smart guy, but we need it more shows like that and definitely need them in today's times!! 🤘🏾
Don't get it twisted know that your power is consistent know your magic know your worth know deja vu is no coincidence For instance we're all co existing and co-dependent on the Sun and the Moon to be a co-parent that's why it's so apparent that you need nature and nurture to grow a parent if you know a parent think apparent I don't just think of appearance peace out that's all I'm sharing
Even when there are dads in a household sometimes the dads don’t hold the role of fathers or dads. Sometimes our mothers had held the roles as mothers and fathers even if you came from a household where your parents are married, the mom inadvertently takes on mother an father. Iyanla Vanzant expressed this one time in an interview. She said she was commander and played the role of father better than that of a mother. I understood this very well an appreciation of her bringing some personal matters to light
Wow they literally don't offer him lead roles because he wanted to be seen as a great TV dad that literally upsets me Mr John Marshall Jones is definitely a great black man and TV dad up there with Uncle Phil and other great TV dads thank you Mr jones
Fyi i aint ever heard anyone say he was “Their” tv dad out loud during that time we had Bill Cosby and Uncle Phil even Carl Winslow we even put white actors over him when we think about tv dads NOW unfortunately.
Did this AI just say CUN-STANT-LEE instead of constantly!? What happened to good old-fashioned speaking into a mic and doing a voice over like a regular human being. 😂😂
June bug dad and this other RUclipsr look just him 😂 yes great actor even playing that detective only reason I really watch the show and his part wasn't even lead on that show if I remember correctly
You might not know it to look at him, but John Marshall Jones used to have a serious body on him. He totally underplayed his sexy. I think that may have been a mistake.
Ok did he think he after Smart Guy he shouldn’t have to audition. Let’s be real Smart Guy was a great show but that with those 4 children SEASONED actors(1 who EMBODIED BABY MICHAEL JACKSON) he wouldn’t have been the lead in that situation and his character was the same each episode he was just a great widowed father so why would he think because of that he shouldn’t have to audition??
He really doesn't get the credit he deserves for his T.v. dad role on Smart guy, i thought he did a great job. People sleep on this show maybe because it only ran for 3 seasons, but this was one of my favorite family sitcoms growing up

Seriously don’t remember this running for only three seasons! I thought it ran like 5 or 6… EXCELLENT show!
I think it’s because back in the day the seasons for shows were each like 25 episodes.
Yeah, and seasons took a break in the summer
He is a incredible underrated actor for sure.
Loved him as the dad and watching the show in general! Also, i loved the Robert Townsend, Flex Washington. the dad from Family Matters and Fresh Prince just to name a few. RIP for the actors that are no longer with us.
Smart Guy was a legit show and he was a great TV dad 💪🏾
John is one of The 🐐’s of Black Situational Comedies. He needs his own show. I still watch episodes of “In The Cut” because of him. To dis daaay!!!
Jayyyssss barbershop 😂✊🏿

He was a true TV Dad for the generation. They didn’t give him what he deserved. Same with plenty of black sitcoms ; my brother and me, sister sister, one on one. I could go on.. they were GREAT dad Role Models ❤
I met him at a bar in Vancouver back in 2010 cool guy 💯
Did they say marijuana and topless women? That’s supposed to be a crazy party? That sound tame as hell 😂
We had parties like that in college 😂
Sounds like a regular strip club to me 😂
Exactly 😂😂😂😂
Very mindful for Hollywood 😭😭
Clickbait thumbnail aside this was a great video on a great actor! He’s a cool cat and I’m blessed I grew up with the Hendersons!
A good Actor and learning how to Live and make a Living Monetary Lucrative also; appearing awakened to his Natural Self. Blessings 🙏
I always thought the dad was one of the best character on the show
I would cast him as Barak Obama. He sounds exactly like him.
Yes he does 😅😅😅
He would do great if he played barack i can see it.
They definitely need to include a scene where Obama was trying to spit Eminem’s loses yourself lyrics. I get a chuckle 🤭 here or two whenever I see it on RUclips.@@jaimesmith2266
Sorry, that's a hard no. 😂
I can see that 😂
Not enough props is given to Smart Guy for its positive black fatherhood depiction. And every episode was legit funny. Papa Henderson was a gem. 💎
Mr Henderson was a good father
The days of Smart Guy and Famous Jet Jackson
Flyod Henderson was extremely underrated TV father!
Awesome show. Floyd was one of the underrated black tv dads.
y'all gotta stop using A.I. There was no point in this video after the 10 minute mark
Hell of an actor.

All that build up in the video for something that was already said at least twice before in the same video 😒😒
Which was??
I loved his part in john doe so mad that show didint go 6 season. Dark angel was another good show.
he definitely needed more roles
was my favorite sitcom dad over all the 90’s dads and bill cosby i have a dad but he was never home(long haul semi driver) so floyd was the one keeping me in line while my dad wasnt around
the life lessons on smart guy for a black kid were amazing and helped me grow as a man

He sounds exactly like 2pacs bodyguard Frank Alexander r.i.p.
"Cun - stant - lee" 😂 u mean constantly
All them 90's tv dads was our dads uncle phil ,carl Winslow, ray (sister, sister) this guy included
Ahhhh..... took me a couple of minutes, but I figured it out. A.I. you got me again smh
One of my favorite TV dads! Wasn't Steve Urkel the first black genius?! Not smart guy, but we need it more shows like that and definitely need them in today's times!! 🤘🏾

My guy trying to secure that Obama role, why he talking like that?! 😂😂😂😂
I loved this show because it was my era but wasn’t Erkle a black genius 😅

If they ever do a Lionel Richie biopic he should play him
That one party photos has a lot of familiar ( and currently relevant) faces in it . Some I recognize but can’t recall their names…
I use to love this show.. I thought all of them was so cool
I watch smart guy weekly as an adult. Floyd was def the show anchor.
Wow they literally don't offer him lead roles because he wanted to be seen as a great TV dad that literally upsets me Mr John Marshall Jones is definitely a great black man and TV dad up there with Uncle Phil and other great TV dads thank you Mr jones
He’s giving Barack in this interview 😊😊❤
thought the first black genius on TV was Steve Urkel
Heard some shit bout him how true idk but considering Carl is really gay it's not far fetched.
@WALK0510 what you hear?
_...his smile..._ 💋...
People forget he was in white men cant jump also.
That’s right! He’s the dude that called the foul at the beginning of the movie.
Fyi i aint ever heard anyone say he was “Their” tv dad out loud during that time we had Bill Cosby and Uncle Phil even Carl Winslow we even put white actors over him when we think about tv dads NOW unfortunately.
This show would've had people on computers early, getting smart and figuring things out right with the smart guy. Doubt they want that influence!
Steve Urkel first black genius
So John Marshall was partying like Diddy huh? 😂
He still fine ❤
Did this AI just say CUN-STANT-LEE instead of constantly!? What happened to good old-fashioned speaking into a mic and doing a voice over like a regular human being. 😂😂

Mfs never bring him up and he was TOP 2/3 days Phil, Cosby, Mr Henderson 🤷🏽♀️
Afro American, am not an African American, 500 years done went by without any assistance from Africa at all, the Hell with Africa!
He doesnt seem uncomfortable being called 'african-'. Maybe he is proud of his ancestry
You might not know it to look at him, but John Marshall Jones used to have a serious body on him. He totally underplayed his sexy. I think that may have been a mistake.
Diddy parties 😳
He still look the same 😂
Crazy he’s actually 9 years older than the daughter
I hope he wasn't part of P. Diddy's parties
that man kept me from being a Roofer…Now im a Janitor

He sounds exactly like Pac's bodyguard Frank Alexander..
I thought we was gonna find out he luda pops the whole time
I always thought he was cool on the show 😂

So he was at Diddy freak offs??
Why is it so hard to get to the point.
Ok did he think he after Smart Guy he shouldn’t have to audition. Jaleel white was 1st. 🎉
He was at diddy parties
So urkel didnt come first ..was Steve not a Genius.
the editing needs some work.
