    Had my 2015 STI for almost eight years. First engine went at 105k and second at 155k after hard driving. Now getting cp pistons installed. Engine gonna be rated for 600whp. Paired with my Recaro Japan sr7 seats, 20g turbo, equal headers, Volk ce28 wheels, Cusco braces and fortune auto swift springs coil. It’s a perfect car. Never wanted a rotated turbo STI. Love the low end torque these have.

  • @SenorRobb
    @SenorRobb 3 месяца назад +14

    The VB can make 400hp with ethanol blend with just an intake, turbo back exhaust and reliably, just need to upgrade the clutch and you’re solid. That’s the beauty of the fa24, direct injection, and not having to break the bank for performance on a stock block.

    • @Nicatlotus
      @Nicatlotus 2 месяца назад

      Still drives nothing like an EJ Subaru.

    • @SenorRobb
      @SenorRobb 2 месяца назад

      @@Nicatlotus I would argue thats the point of the FA is that it’s not suppose to be like the EJ, even though it’s historically renowned and has that rumble, it was inefficient for higher power unless you went aftermarket built blocks. But now with the FA motor holding a lot of HP, we are seeing the evolution of direct injection. Suspension and transmission you can always swap, but numbers don’t lie with the FA24.

    • @Nicatlotus
      @Nicatlotus 2 месяца назад

      @@SenorRobb I don’t care about the numbers. The electric steering rack, no dccd, no brembo. I owned an FA wrx for a short time after I traded my 400hp EJ wrx in. I hated it. It’s about the experience for me. The FA car felt nothing like a Subaru. I’m not a fan of the new platforms for the wrx/sti

    • @SenorRobb
      @SenorRobb 2 месяца назад

      @@Nicatlotus I can agree with you the handling, braking and differential isn’t the same, but the fa20 wrx and fa24 are not the same when it comes to handling. That is proved through many reviews. Brembo breaks are a needed upgrade for sure which is nice that it comes with the TR and tS. Also, the dccd is basically a direct bolt on the new platform if you can get your hands on from the 19-21 sti .

    I have a VA WRX and I built it, makes about 500whp. Pretty quck car, only reason everyone prefers the STI over both VB or VA WRX is because the transmission is much much more stout, if you want to make high horsepower numbers it’s better.

    • @ianholmquist8492

      And the sti has limited slip diffs unlike the wrx, wishbone suspension, unlike the wrx, real power steering, unlike the wrx, and actually sounds good, unlike the wrx. Stock for stock (which is all I care about). Sti is a real car. Wrx is just unfinished

    • @carswithsepp
      @carswithsepp  3 месяца назад +1

      It’s no surprise stock for stock the STI is the more performance packed car. The WRX has always been the more liveable, less motorsport orientated car. It has a balance of being daily drivable and also fun to just toss around. Both cars are pretty real to me, one is higher performing than the other sure, but the WRX isn’t unfinished. It has its place in the subaru lineup as a sportier option than the impreza, but will not and should not fill role of the STI. It boggles my mind people are looking to find STI performance in a stock WRX, it’s a WRX, not a STI.

    I think the biggest Wins for FA20 and FA24, is the timing chain. After doing my 3rd timing belt on my car, EJ257, I can't lie a timing chain lasting roughly the life of the vehicle, is sounding pretty sweet. At least for a daily with 400whp or less, any excuse to not pull my motor for maintenance is a win for sure. To be clear, I love my EJ, it's built stout, but I'm the one that works on my car, so less wrench time is more seat time.

  • @StelaPop
    @StelaPop 3 месяца назад +13

    I don't think you should regret your VB purchase at all. This VA STi has tens of thousands of dollars of modifications, which you CAN do to your VB!!! You can put an STi transmission from FlatIrons or somewhere else, and build the FA 24 withall of the modifications on this VA, switching from only direct injection to both direct and port injection, and your "built" car will beat the VA you have in this video! No regrets Sepp 😊

      I'm no expert on VBs but I have Built G3 nothing left untouched or unmodified inside the engine case and outside however throwing on such turbo and port injection doesn't constitute "built". From Subarus proven track record of shitting themselves with over 300hp I can say fa isn't any better... Happy to be corrected

    • @StelaPop
      @StelaPop 3 месяца назад +2

      @sarverg2207 thanks for you're message. Forgive me if I wasn't clear; by suggesting that the proposed VB have the STi tranny, and port injection, was not thr full list of mods needed, but to continue with the rest of the modifications the VA STi owner did for his car to build it from short block and internal upgrades, through to the finish, because it was plain to see the VA had at 20, 000+ of parts, labour, RnD, and dino time to get that reliable 400hp.

    Yall comparing two different cars. STI - Engine based on racing platform, 6 piston brembos, race suspension/chassis, 2 LSDs and a electronic center diff, close ratio (just like the type r) strong transmission, hydraulic steering, much more sport oriented interior (alcantara, red leather, seat belts), and ofcourse looks and sounds alot better (looks subjective, sound objective lol). 19+ STIs also have the stronger internals, hence why the S209 uses it (makes 370whp just with a tune).
    Everyone saying oh 400hp is easier, yeah sure, what about 450? Once you start looking to upgrade the turbo is when you gotta put money into any wrx/sti engine platform. The fa24 is literally an fa20 with slightly more displacement. The VB is not hitting 450 on stock turbo. The STI can with slightly upgraded turbo and E. At the end of the day, VB is a good compact family sedan. STI is a driver focused true sports car.
    The aftermarket support is also something yall need to consider. Hundreds of built blocks and internal upgrades already exist for the STI, with supporting mods. But yeah its a discontinued car. So nothing wrong with buying a VB, just stop saying its a better car cause it can hit 350-400hp easier lol. So could the VA wrx, same story. For this gen, Id prob swing for a golf r, type r, or integra type s, even a supra. Yes all more expensive but youre gonna mod your VB anyway with wheels, aero, engine, etc. Better to finance a more exp car than lose cash outright on mods

  • @claudio_wrx
    @claudio_wrx 3 месяца назад +1

    How much did he spend to get to 400whp?? All you need on the VB is an intake, Ethanol and a tune and you’re at 400, unlike the STi, that’s why VA STi owners hate us, so don’t regret getting your VB
