This is why a church is lovely ..especially at Christmas you can join in but there is no pressure but you can feel that connection and joining in but not in a party way…plus church is peaceful…
Yeh that time in between is awkward 😊 I always can’t wait till January and put everything away and get on with life again 😂
I always use the time „between the years“ to declutter, organize my papers, documents, taxes, deep clean the apartment.. I also plan something really nice to do/eat or watch on the 31st because I hate fireworks, it’s like a warzone in the city I live in!
I'm retired but, when I was at work, I often went in to work for that in between period. Fewer people in the office and you could really clear the decks as it were.

I think you have a very nice friend to be willing to offer you alternative activities in recognition of your basic nature! As a fellow introvert and HSP, I always appreciate your down to earth, minimal approach to life. Have a lovely Christmas!

As often as I can, I try to THRIFT as many gifts as possible. I am always quite overwhelmed at how much STUFF ends up at thrift shops. It is possible to find brand new or gently used items. Experiences are WONDERFUL and the memories last LONG after the holiday s have passed. My husband's gift was to see Andrea Botelli in concert and thank God we were able to, before he had to stop his world tour. My youngest daughter is an Introvert and minimalist. She will often ask for gift cards to IKEA/ Etsy.
A really slow way to honor the season is to dispense entirely with commercial aspects. I enjoy others' decoratings and all but haven't shopped in years. That's admittedly easier for some of us than others with families etc.

I feel so overwhelmed this year & I’ve not put any decorations up at all. My dog passed away last month & I've struggled without him. I've lost my way with a routine.

I’m from the US NYC all my life I enjoy hanging out with my friends family not so much
Now that my children are grown I spend the lead up to Christmas happily wandering in charity shops and then buy each person a small, fun item for under the tree. Our main gifts to each other are time, as we all live quite a distance away from each other. My daughter works in the NHS so she ( and many others) work every alternate Christmas. Have a lovely Christmas and enjoy it in your own way, as we all should. I’m like you too I find large social events very overwhelming, even amongst my family. Going out is far too noisy these days. I’ve just had a big birthday and was almost frowned on because I didn’t have a big get together of family and friends. I’ve had lots of individual cuppas with lovely friends and it’s been so much nicer ☺️

It made me think of ways I could make an Advent calendar of my own, using little homemade goodies (homemade teabags, for example!). Thank you for all your videos. Went to a winter artist's fair and got some recycled paper packaging for Xmas pressies, love thinking sustainable at this time of year so thanks for the inspiration

Molly my husband and I no longer buy each other anything for the holidays. We do put up an artificial tree with ornaments he hand made. Also my family stopped exchanging gifts. We hope you have a very Merry Christmas. 💕

That was lovely, I love your outlook. I too prefer to be home, quiet activities and just with a few close family, it has taken many years to realise that this is ok and I don't have to be out enjoying a party to feel normal! Parties are not something we have ever done and people always ask us why are we not going out Christmas and new year. Have a relaxing time.

Enjoyed the walk through Inverness, one of my favorite cities, although the weather looks to be the same as in Toronto where I am. Really lovely advent calendar, I'll have to try to find one for my eldest daughter. I try to buy more 'experiential' gifts for my grandkids e.g. they both like pottery and art classes.

I try to keep it all as simple as possible and avoid all but the get-together with friends and family on Christmas day itself, if I can! This is my first Christmas without my mum, so that's hard to be honest.

For me, the festive season is a magical period of rest and cosiness, and family time. I love visiting artisan Christmas markets, they are very popular in Spain where I live for a time being. And in our family we have our own "recycled" gift wrappings - we just use those bags from previous years :) But we have much more space to keep them :)

I find loud parties and trying to put om fun stressful
Hi Molly, do you have certain mugs you prefer for certain drinks? And do you have any sort of stockpile in your tiny home, in case you get snowed in? I live in central Scotland and shattered my ankle at the start of October. I am still not mobile so my stockpile has taken a beating. Got me thinking about when we can't get out.
Yes, I like to vary my mugs and try and keep as full a pantry as possible! I hope you recover soon :)
