Always knew that Christie and Kelly were right about Melissa. Even Holly said it, she said that Melissa was a smart women and she knows when to play her cards. Christie even said when you think your one step ahead or that ur doing good Melissa would purposely be five steps ahead of you. She also said that they know Melissa, everyone sees the good but only they know the sneaky, evil, and bad.
Honestly Abby should have been more caring and trusting towards mothers like Holly, Christie, and Kelly who were blunt and with her. Jill and Melissa clearly suck up to her on purpose to get there daughters far cause the minute they became famous they left her. Abby was messed up towards Christie, Kelly, and Holly who were truly honest towards her and tried to be respectful but Abby would cover for Melissa who was just a complete bit-h and now Abby sees that.
Yes but in my opinion she only played those cards because of her children and her children’s futures so to me she was never in the wrong

Melissa also never stood up for their kids and for the other moms but yet you expect them to defend Melissa and stand up for her? You are saying that Melissa hurting the other kids at the expense of the other kids isn't her being in the wrong? There was literally an episode where Christi was defending Kenzie against her own mother because Melissa was saying that Kenzie should not have won.
I haven't been this early since Vivi cut her finger on her mom's ring and thought she couldn't dance.

She really needs to apologize go her. Picking on Chloe because she has beef with her parents really wasn't a good thing to do.

It’s really sad. Abby was probably with Maddie and Kenzie more than Melissa was. Then she stole thousands from her and quickly distanced herself. Really messed up.

The sad thing is that for all the fame the show brought everyone, it really damaged so many of them. The kids almost all have ptsd and severe anxiety. Relationships and true friendships were destroyed. The good, heartwarming moments became fewer and fewer and the cruel, angry moments became more and more of the show as it progressed. I can't excuse some of the things Abby or the moms did or said for the show, but I do understand they were under immense pressure and were manipulated greatly. I feel like the show took a turn for the nasty especially after season 2. Season 3 and 4 were pretty much, lets destroy Chloe, Paige, and Brooke's spirits, after that, it seemed Nia became the new target, then Brynn, and Sarah in Season 8 to mention a few. I figure these kids weren't chosen for those roles and mistreatment wholly by Abby, the producers pushed it to make their mothers mad and get more "good fights" on camera. I feel like the people on the show wouldn't all be so angry at each other and bitter if they hadn't been put under such extreme stress and almost forced to "stay in the ring" until they fought, like dog fighting or chicken fighting.
Watching dm undercovered...and those kids have every right not to speak with abby.

I’m currently binge watching Dance Moms. I only just recently got into it and I love it. This discussion has really opened my eyes to the behind the scenes stuff that goes on. I never liked Cathy because of the way she was on the show but I had no idea that she was a paid actor. Watching Cathy and Abby together was really nice. Cathy seems like a really lovely lady. I still love Abby though. She’s my favourite.

That would be fascinating, but I think realistically after all the stress in that relationship I doubt they’ll ever speak to each other. Chloe even stated before that she blocked out a significant amount of Dance moms because it was so overwhelming for her.

I absolutely would love for Abby to work things out with the Hylands and Chloe! It definitely needs to be on their terms though and I feel like Abby should first send them a letter or private message before broadcasting it online. From what I understand Abby said some things off camera that were extremely hurtful and definitely don’t need to be relived on camera.

i think this is such the epitome of reality tv not being reality. @abby, I am so so happy that you decided to make this video and post it. This is such a great testament of what producers do to people for fame, for money. They are both so much more likable here. I was a dancer back when the show was airing (dance instructor now) and I always thought the show missed the mark on what the actual dance community would consider entertainment. I guess they were catering to the masses, but the fighting got old very quickly.
I'm not a dancer or instructor but I also thought it missed the mark. I feel like we wanted to see the dancing, the choreography the Abby made, and stuff like that. The mom drama and Abby vs. Cathy was so over the top.
I figured this is why Abby didn't want to mention Studio 19... so that this kind of drama wasn't enabled again.
As someone who was on a reality tv show, there are many things that ARE real, but a lot of things that are purposely edited or people who specifically manipulate things IRL

Cathy will probably never see this but i always loved her, she never failed to make me giggle.. i was the same age as the girls when it was actually airing, and i had pictures of the girls printed out and after the episodes would put their pictures in a pyramid and waited till the next week to see if i got it right! Dance moms was a huge part of my childhood even tho i was never dancer.. i’m so sorry to the both of how out of control all of the hate got. it’s really sad at the end of the day we’re all humans. we’re all imperfect. the producers are to blame. i hope it’s not still that bad, you both are amazing women!! especially you Abby, you are the strongest, bravest lady i’ve ever seen. you’ve been through obstacles after obstacles and you’ve never failed to persevere! lots of loves and good thoughts for you both xoxo💞

I think this would really be great for them if it would be at all possible. The girls I think are old and strong enough to handle it and hopefully apologies can be made and things can be cleared up
Did you hear Abby evade Cathy and not apologize when Cathy said Abby calling Cathys mom pathetic affected her mom? She went in to how she doesn’t remember misses her own mom instead of acknowledging that is a hurtful thing whether she remembers or not. The girls are better off on their own and let Abby do damage control of her own image with the adults she worked with instead of the kids.
Chloe and Nia don’t owe Abby anything. They were little girls, and she was an abusive adult. It would be nice if Abby offered them an apology or showed some kind of remorse with no strings attached, but there’s nothing to really discuss beyond that.
Awesome to see them as friends. I'm from Canton, Ohio and thanks ladies for helping support dance education and children's lives.

This was so interesting to watch. I am happy to see that you and Cathy have a friendship and you are clearing up a lot of the nonsense that was put out there. I was a fan of the show but it never came off as actual reality to me. I couldn't imagine that your studio would be so successful if things really worked how it was depicted. This is so great, love seeing both of these ladies. I loved the show, watched for several seasons but, I even agree, it became repetitive. My brother is in the dance community and we know the actual reality of the dance world. Can it be dramatic and a lot, for sure, but it is also amazing.

I think that this was a really important interview to share on RUclips so that the world can better understand what Dance Moms truly was. And while Dance Moms was a “reality” TV show, much of what was depicted on the show, was far from reality. I look forward to watching part II next week! So I've been a fan of your show since the beginning because I grew up as a dancer in southern PA, I didn't compete or anything so I had never heard of your studio.
But I really do appreciate this side of everything, the personal side. I have always respected you Abby. I always could tell you knew what you were talking about when it came to dance.
I prayed for you over the years and never thought anything negative of you even if the media tried to say negative things.
Abby you are an inspiration and are beautiful. Keep doing these kinds of videos please!
