We made a video all about how to clean a bathtub a few years ago, and based on the feedback we received from that video we wanted to put a second video together with more concise, step-by-step instructions, on how to clean your bathroom tub and tiles in the easiest most efficient way.

I dread cleaning my shower, I end up getting overwhelmed by it. This video inspired me! Your step by step organization made it easier, and that last step of the microfiber cloth after the squeegee was the cherry in top! It finished the job perfectly! I even ignored my "fancy" chemical cleaners😷 and made the simple ones that you suggested! I love using vinegar to clean! Thanks!

As a regular, able bodied 20-something (ok, ok, for another year or so), I love my scrubber on a telescoping pole. It allows me to stand in one spot and get all the walls without crazy hands and knees scrubbing. Sure it may not be as thorough, but if you do it consistently the build up doesn't really happen anyway. Also, that convenience means I'm going to be more inclined to do it in the first place which is what really matters in the end.

I really like the step-by-step format! I was never taught how to wash a tub or shower, so it was helpful to have it laid out like this, where I can follow along. I don't personally need ergonomic products or methods, but I think it's nice to consider viewers who do have limited mobility.

The information on ergonomics and especially physical limitations was very much appreciated. I was paralyzed 38 years ago by a gunshot wound when I was 21. First question : how to make the bed. No one knew so I figured it out myself. Fast forward to this year and, with a husband and two grown men "babies" living at home while going to grad school, I stumbled onto your videos. I got rid of my cleaning lady and do it all myself, including the walls. I also cut down on store bought chemicals. My kids think I'm nuts being use baking soda on everything. But boy, do they all appreciate the clean house!!! So thanks for the videos and for considering ppl in my situation!!!!

This is true. As long as you squeegee after every shower, it takes like a year for stuff to build back up.
The only problem is if you have a shower curtain you can't really squeegee that. It's going to slowly drip off into your nice dry tub

I have a ton of health problems, so I suggest a lot of breaks in between tasks. Don't wear yourself out. Also, like when I sweep (because it hurts my back), I sit in a computer rolly chair and sweep or mop 😁 But like she said with the tub, let the product work for you! I'll spray everything down and then come back to it in a few minutes. And if you have kids, outsource that mess! We all grew up with chores, don't be afraid to give them some too!

Good ideas! In regards to kids, parents, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make them do chores. I got away with a lot when I was younger now I regret it. I can't pass it off to others now unless I pay someone. It's nice to do that if you can afford it &/or you don't have time but I find it very satisfying to be able to clean my own space. I'm still learning & getting used to doing it but now it gives me a sense of satisfaction. It's empowering!

Hi. I have chronic anemia getting iron infusions, fibromyalgia, and osteoarthritis in most of my joints. My shoulder and clavicle of my dominant arm may need surgery so I understand pain... 20 years pain. I clean tub regular (twice a week) and my son and daughter make sure they rinse scum when they get out. I use natural products also and I have a tub with porous material. I spray and let it sit 5 min. then come back and rinse. A tip for you: If you have similar joint issues and receive injections, tell your orthopedic specialist that you want a marcaine & depo-medradol injection. It will kill the joint pain. I may need surgery on shoulder and knee so it still hurts a Lil but I have been immune to toradol and demoral and some other cortisones for the last 15 years and these last 3 weeks have been 80% pain free in all of my joints . Just thought I'd mention that... Sorry for long comment.

My fiberglass tub/shower was in really bad shape. I was having some back problems and I needed a much easier than scrubbing method and I came across a site where a landlord had searched for the best way to clean fiberglass. They contacted the manufacturer and was told to use low fume oven cleaner on it. You spay it on, let it sit for awhile and then you use a wet rag and wipe it off. It was amazingly easy and unbelievably the tub was brand new looking. I don't care to use many chemicals in my house, but this method is unbelievable. I now also use it on my stove top when it gets real bad.

  • @jooleepadoolie
    @jooleepadoolie 5 лет назад +5

Another tip that I just got from the contractor who is remodeling our bathroom. Our fiberglass tub with surround is from 1983, when the house was built, and it's still in good shape. He said that tubs and tile stay cleaner, longer, if you don't use bar soap, which we don't. I learned in microbiology that soap bars are disgusting. If you wash your hands with bar soap, vs no soap, then touch the inside of a petri dish, more bacteria grows inside the one that was touched after using bar soap. Switch to liquid and your tub and tile will stay cleaner, and you won't rub bacteria all over your body.

I like this format, it is motivating to watch others clean for whatever reason. I got the urge and cleaned my whole bathroom last night and using this method was the best so far for my tub. I never used to dry my tub but after having some mold growth I can really see the benefit of drying down the walls with a towel or squeegee. After I dried myself off after showering this morning I just used my towel to wipe down everything. I wash my towels often because I live in a high humid environment so air drying usually makes them stink. Ah how nice it was to shower in a clean shower!

Use a good cleaner. To help with the scrubbing to get everything out use a brush on a cordless drill. Once done use a good car was paste. It will seal the surface so it doesn't get dirty again. But on the floor of it it will make it slippery so use a shower mat to grip

Hey Melissa. I love your videos. You have helped me to have a cleaner house; and I share your tips with my friends and family. My suggestion is to show on the screen the steps that you do and de products that you use written down. I'm asking this because it easier to understand what you say for someone who is not an English speaking native. Thanks a lot. I'm from Chile.

I enjoyed your video. First of all let me tell you how much I like your cloths. I bought them when you had the sale and I'm really liking using them. They really do work as well as you say! I clean houses for work and so sometimes I don't get to clean my house lol. I have discovered a way of cleaning that is a bit simpler and has worked great. One home I had had terrible mineral spots all over their tiles in the bathroom and overtime they are completely gone and the tiles Sparkle like new. First I spray the walls of the shower with whatever cleaner I choose to use at the time. Then I spray the bathtub. I clean the bathtub on my knees while the shower is soaking. Then I rinse the shower and tub in hot water. My final step is to wipe the walls down and there is a beautiful shine left. I also do this in my own home right after a shower as the walls are steamed up and moist from my shower. First of course I remove all the items in the shower as you said. That helps me clean my own tub and not have to spend a lot of time scrubbing. I also wipe the walls down after my showers in between Washings. That helps also to keep them clean and not have that mold build up so quickly under my shampoos and such.

I use hot water too, to "soften" soap scum in the tub. I found a nice, thick kneeling pad (in the garden part of Walmart) and it helps me tremendously.
Maria Galbick, I have seen a show with people who are terrible hoarders. One of them was a cleaning lady!

Clean My Space Hello! I’d love to see a video on how to clean pots, pans and their lids. I have lids that are glass with the metal lining and they tend to get a lot of hunk stuck in the cracks. How do you clean that off? Also, I recently came back from vacation and realized that I had forgotten to throw out a pan with food. It was accidentally left out so it had mold growing. How can you wash and disinfect the pan?
    Thanks!

Melissa, I use your spray recipe to wet the tub and surround, but then, I also use a big scoop of OxyClean along with the baking soda. The OxyClean powers through the scum, and kills mildew, as well as sanitizes the tub and surround.

There is a product at Walmart, cheap little thing, that comes with three heads and spins when you turn it on to clean in bathroom or kitchen. It’s long enough so if you’re short or sitting you can reach most places. I have found this to be ergonomically beneficial with my handicaps. Think it’s called hurricane spin scrubber.

I actually clean my shower right after/while taking a shower because the dirt is already presoaked and it comes off very easily with just a little bit of cleaning product. And I ALWAYS squeege my shower door after each use as it makes it look clean for much longer.

Best way to clean a tub and tiles is to get a swiffer style mop and put a regular cloth on it with your cleaner and you can reach all the way to the top of the tile and wipe around the tub
