Magnetizing Imperia Knight Castellan or Valliant

- In this video I will take you through my thought process on how to best magnetize the Imperial Knight Dominus kit for Warhammer 40K by Games Workshop. Normally this kit will result in either a Imperial Kight Castellan, or an Imperial Knight Valliant. By magnetizing the weapons, you can load out your finished model as either unit.
This is a long video with detailed instructions, so be ready to fast forward if you get bored easily. I included many of my mistakes, since I think those are the best way to learn how to magnetize any kit. - Развлечения
Amazing idea how to magnetize the hands. You saved me a whole world of trouble.
Glad I could help. Good luck on your project. It's a fun one!
I appreciate this video very much as it's the most up to date video with the current sprue set when it comes to the Dominus class and the changes that occurred with the 9th edition box for it. I do wish this video was more digestable. Perhaps an updated video with a shorter run time and a direct step by step would be more manageable.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll admit I struggle to find the balance between informative and expressiveness. Perhaps if I do another one of this model kit I'll try for a shorter format.
I normally dont comment on youtube but I am about to tackle building my first Knight and a Knight Castellan at that. It's a project for me to see what I can do after about a year into the hobby. Your video was a joy to watch, great humor and you have a great presence and voice for this. Looking forward to the next videos!
Wow! That means a lot. I really do appreciated the kind words!
doing the Emperor's work here - great video. good to know the struggles I'll be facing.
I've had worse magnetizing projects than this one. You'll do just fine!
Great video thank you. You saved me hours of grief
Awesome! Hope your new knight is awesome-looking!
Thank you for the help! Mine looks a bit rougher than yours but I had to use what tools I owned (well wanted to because impatience haha). I couldn’t achieve a flush fit for the guns so I used some green stuff to fill in the gaps. I’m making a chaos knight so it’ll work out
Glad this helped! I rather enjoy magnetizing these because they are so big. Bigger parts like these are more forgiving, allow you to use beefier magnets and just hold up better.
Out of curiosity, what tools are you missing? If you don't have a rotary tool, it will be VERY useful for any magnetizing project and a decent kit won't set you back too much. Well worth it, IMO.
Your voice is great for videos!
That was unexpected and appreciated. I have to admit, though. I use a little bit of audio processing to make it sound just a little deeper.
Thanks for this. I am looking to do the same with my big knight. I see your problem with the weapon Caps, so I think I will slice up the spare back part with those generators on it, and see if they fit instead (with a bit of green stuff) They seem to be the same size and shape...
Ooh! That's a GREAT IDEA! I wish I had seen that when I was making mine. I think it could work.
@@YourAverageBearGaming did it. Worked out great. Magnetised the weapons, added a second set of smaller magnets to the pistons to allow for better stability, and used the engine sections as caps. Thanks for the video, it really helped me visualise what I needed to do!
@@Sectux You did the pistons? Wow! That was brave and I am glad it worked out for you. I went with the lazy "you can't see it" approach and it looks good. But it "feels" less good.
@@Sectux Also, I might have to go back and re-do the engine sections later too. I have the bits, so why the heck not!
Magnetize caps with green stuff and keep calm. Respect from Russia!
Can I use a knight questoris magnet kit to magnetise this model?
Or is there a specific kit i can use to magnetise this
I don't have any experience with kit specific magnet sets, so I couldn't say one way or the other.
I will say that if this is your first magnetization project, getting a kit like this is probably a decent approach. My preference is to have a variety of disk magnet sizes on hand so I can magnetize any kit I want, but that takes time and a bit of money so it may not be the best approach for everyone.
What I will say is take a good look at the joints you are trying to magnetize. Measure it up so you can use the largest magnet that can fit the available space. You will never regret having too strong a connection, but the opposite is too often true.
@@YourAverageBearGaming thanks for the help
@@Azh.aepeditsYou're welcome. And good luck!
Late to the party, but having build multiple knights I can say that EVERY knight model comes with instruction manual that has glaring errors. I have no idea how GW can be this massively incompetent, but I am 100% sure that nobody who has been in this hobby for a few years will disagree. GW is one of the most incompetent companies in the world.
Yeah, I've come across a few nasty errors in the instructions. I used to get pretty upset about it, but I've just learned to accept it. I'm probably giving GW a pass, but at least they make plastic toys as opposed to say airplanes, or pharmaceuticals.
