You’re about the same size as my brother
The fabric is made in Oregon but sewn in Central America.

Your wrong. Great history on a super product.
Is it Made/sewn in china?
Woolrich used to be the common men's outdoor work shirt back when I was a young man. Woorich hunting outfit 100% virgin wool saved my life once hunting in northern New Hampshire back 1956. I stupidly got soaked up to my arm pits when the ice on a bog gave out. I was ~ 5 miles from camp. Long cold walk. Wool saves cotton kills.
Woolrich and Johnson woolen mill all the way!
I heard that woolrich was bought out and no longer make flannel shirts
East coast guy👍👍👍 Wool rich is to East what Pendleton is out West
Use to go the Woolrich factory store in Woolrich, PA. My mother use to buy end of roll wool fabric there and made my father and me a poncho.
Worked in a sporting goods store in western PA in early 70's. As deer season approached around Thanksgiving, couldn't keep the Woolrich stuff in stock. Had some shirts myself. Too bad they are gone from the US.
My tribe still give out Pendleton blankets
What tribe?

Graduations, rewards, raffles, achievements. All types of things. They usually have a Siletz label attached
I'm listening to this as a put a louvered sunshade on the back window of my IROC.
From as far east as you can get in Canada and bought my own after hearing about this quality garment in a passing comment you made in an old video. I also know that almost freezing dampness you mention.
Amazing quality, durability and style. I love your channel; you maintain a balance of DIY, homesteading, honest opinions and most importantly Christian content. Keep up the good work and I pray for nothing but peace and prosperity for you and yours.
After this, I now confident this the shirt my grandfather used to have. I remember those blue tags! A farmer in northern Wisconsin. Shirts long gone, but farm is now run by 4th generation!
This man is pure Americana. I really enjoy it.
the shirts aren't made in america anymore, so i'm not sure how he's "pure americana"
@@browntown2184 they're still made in Oregon brother
Made in Mexico
I love that you keep hold of history of what you love. Heavy tools to shirts.

For that price they should make them in the USA again. Website says "Imported of USA fabric"
Thats for the liners of some of the cheaper stuff
@@XA-JJKILLERs They use USA made wool, assemble them overseas and in Mexico.
Made in Mexico of US wool
That's really SAD...nothing made in the USA anymore. All of our industry has been sent overseas.
Want to know why and who is responsible? Who signed NAFTA? Who gave China favorable trading partner status? Who tried to destroy American workers rights by signing PPP? Democrat party! Yep all three, any union worker or manufacturing worker who votes Democrat is a fool! I used to be and did my research and saw how I was being manipulated, No more and they have now focused on the service sectors. Cheap labor is what its all about and now it seems our own politicians have been getting kick backs for doing so. Wake up America before we become a third world nation.
I grew up in the 1950/1966s and had a pendleton shirt, my fav. Never wore out and always looked great, made like steel. Oh yes, grew up in California, not todays California, in which nothing of value can survive but old California where somethings were held in value. Great video. Blessing and Grace to you and yours.
I’ll never forget the day I found out about Pendleton, my mom and grandma called any and all flannel shirts “Pendleton” and one day at a garage sale my mom found one bought it took it to grandmas house and they were both going on and on about how nice and how much she paid for it. I finally said “Well mom I have 3 Pendleton shirts” she opened the shirt and showed me the label and said “No honey this is a REAL Pendleton.”
Seems to me if the dang shirts last for 50 years or more their price ain't that unreasonable.
Even if you were paying a bit for the name, so what? Like he said, everyone has their thing. I don't think it's outrageous to spend $250 on a couple of these shirts when you really like them and they last a long time.
There's far worse ways to spend money.
I worked in the trades welding/fabricator I loved my Pendleton's when the weather got cool and cold... 10 hours on a shop floor at just above freezing here in the Pacific Northwest can be miserable if you can't stay warm.
A $160 shirt that lasts 20 years is only $8 per year.
@@dispmonk Yeah I got a few pairs of those. Have had them a couple years only but I like them.
Now this is my favorite part of this channel. Explaining in depth a product I can buy that I didn’t even know existed before.
I'm from the UK and when I visited Portland last year I was lucky enough to find a Pendleton shirt in a thrift store. I absolutely love it and you are right in saying it's perfect for the English weather!
I love your care and appreciation for heritage and the old ways as I age I find my self doing the same. Thank you for that so much
Grew up in Pendleton driving past the mills every day. Haven't lived there in nearly 13 years but I'm always proud when my little hometown is admired far and wide for both their wool and the Roundup. Thanks for the wonderful video Cody.
I have 1 Pendleton blanket... Ive always had it.. Ever since I can remember. I've lived in Portland all my life. The Hollywood district actually. Anyway, love your videos Cody, please keep making videos, it really makes my day seeing them. God bless, and take care bud.
I am a life long Oregonian not born or raised in Portland. I did live just outside the Hollywood district by the Rose City Cemetery off of Fremont. I enjoyed my time there. Cheers!
I'm in a native american family, pendleton blankets are the quintessential gift for everyone of all ages. my girlfriend has at least 3 wool blankets. I was once looking into milsurp wool pendletons for camping and remembered those huge thick blankets for camping. I definitely can't use them in a 68 degree house, way too hot. good quality feel, heavy and thick blankets that you know are special
I’m really happy to hear you say that. I was worried that native Americans would label these Pendleton blankets in Native American inspired patterns as “cultural appropriation.” But it seems like this is more of something that woke white people say about these kind of things. As a Japanese American, I don’t mind people using our silk kimono patterns for example.
Really good presentation. I love the fact you went for it properly. I live in England, and wool in the winter is just perfect. Wool seems to keep the heat in even if you get soaked. Thank you you have really cheered me up this morning. God Bless You and Your Family x
I remember. Grandpas shirts. Logger, farmer, butcher. Pendleton shirts memories rushing in. Thank You

You wanna talk about fighting words. Well that would be calling gumbo jumbo.
I was at a woolery over the weekend in Vermont and all the Pendleton stuff was labeled made in China so I left it there. I did buy a Johnson woolen vest it was $$$ but made in Vermont. I really love the Pendleton blankets too bad they offshored the manufacture.
One of my neighbors owns the Johnson woolen mills in Vermont. Thank you for helping the local economy. Your purchase will likely last a lifetime.
now I really want one of these. will be getting one for sure
Trust me, these Pendleton shirts will never go away! My wife’s family all have at least one. Every biker I know owns one. We live in SoCal where it’s mostly warm but the family always brings them out for parties or rides.
I love your passion for this brand and everything attached to these shirts!
If you have problems iching from wool you cannot beat new Zealand Marino wool soft no ich its great 👍
Merino wool from Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand has helped kill-off the wool industry in Ireland. The wool there had been used for centuries as a byproduct of the sheep meat and milk industry, but 2020 has changed everything and Irish wool is so cheap now, it barely covers shearing costs.
@@fraa888grindr7 can you upgrade the flock with non itchy sheep..?
@@fraa888grindr7 New Zealand wool has suffered the same fate. There are some farmers here burning the wool because it has zero dollar value. It costs more to get it shorn off than the wool is worth.
You really should try the NZ Merino/Possum or mohair/possum blends. They really are something else.
@@prdoohan depends on fleece quality. most sheep are bred for meat and the wool factor has been left out of breeding programs in those breeds/flocks. Icebreaker buy all their wool from specific Marino flocks in NZ and specialised wool-producing flocks still command a descent $ in international markets. the wool market is highly specialised now and quality rules. 100 years ago any wool would do because it was the mainstay fabric; warm and hardwearing for the working classes. Comfort and fashion definitely wasn't the priority in those days.
I find them occasionally in the thrifts down here in SC. Paid .99c for the last 3, 2 got shipped to Cali, the other to PA.
Were the ones you found at the thrift store vintage? Wondered how vintage sizing compared to modern sizes of similar shirts?
Some were more vintage than others. The older ones were made in the USA, while less vintage ones were made in Mexico of US wool. Sizing was all within 1/2", sleeves, chest, length everything was very close.
Thank you!! Absolutely loved 🥰 this video!!
Love the history/stories.

Up here in Southcentral Alaska, I have grown quite fond of the Board Shirt. Just got my 2nd, and might get one a year for the rest of my life. Totally concur on all points: wool is a miracle fiber, and nearly anything made from it is worth the cost.
Not every review or video on RUclips has to be made for the 20 year old “super” budget conscience. I’m sure there is quite a large group that can and will spend more for quality. I’m one of them and really enjoy seeing these types of products. I wish there was a word that was as popular as “budget” that creators could slap on a thumbnail and/or title that meant “this is for the next step in life, the buy once cry once” phase.
My dad wore them his whole life, made me smile listening to your story.
The ending was hilarious 😂
So glad you made this!
I miss the old Pendleton brand. Now it's Oregon wool cut and sewn in Chinastan. check out Duckworth shirts instead. Montana wool spun, woven, cut, and sewn in the USA

@@yugen Well that's a different story! Yeah not too many options. Other options include Rambler's way. I don't have wool button downs from them but I do have their henleys. Great company. Johnson woolen mills is another. My gripe with Pendleton is that they moved manufacturing overseas and somehow their prices went up and not down. It's cheaper for them to make their products in Chinastan but they don't pass that savings on to us. Same story with Filson.

The question is whether the quality is the same as 20 years ago.
Quality is still good but they are no longer made in the US for the most part. Same goes for most companies, simply no way to stay in business having all of your product made domestically while keeping a reasonable price.
What do you think? They're no longer made in USA by Americans who take pride in there work

Fantastic shirts..last for generations
Northern California here. I was a huge Beach Boys fan in the 60s and was one of those surfer wannabes though I lived 90 miles inland. I had at least one in 1965. Today I have 3 board shirts in the closet and a sweater coming.

I think I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life. At one time I own 7 Pendleton shirts. I was going to move to the Caribbean and thought I would not need them. It was a British weaver named Thomas Kay who arrived in Oregon in 1863 that started this magnificent family owned company still run six generations later. STOP and think about that a minute!
Something people need to understand is a Pendleton item is an INVESTMENT. And an investment that folks from here in the California Sierra, east to the Colorado and Montana Rockies as well as Idaho, Washington and Oregon see as a GREAT value. You get what you pay for!!
Our son age 52, has his Dads and his maternal Grandfathers (my Dad) Pendleton shirts that were bought 50-75 years ago. Hand washed in cold water Woolite, and laid to dry or dry cleaned. And the virgin wool is soft, not itchy. And we wear the shirts like a cardigan when a thicker jacket isn't needed for warmth.
Some people buy cheap power tools that last a couple years and complain when they stop working. Some people buy a cheap blender versus a Vitamix because they think a Vitamix is to expensive, even though they last decades!
Some people complain at spending $80 on a USA made wool shirt and will say they can get a shirt, made in China for $15 at Walmart. I believe in USA made which provides a living wage for my fellow Americans!! I believe in quality!

Born and Raised in Oregon, these shirts are made in response to a specific need and are outstanding in function and quality. Worth every penny.....
I am falling in love with high quality U.S. made products again.
Years ago, when I was single, my girlfriend washed ALL of my Pendleton wool shirts. I gave them all to a young boy relative since they shrunk down to child sizes. No, that girlfriend did NOT become my wife.
I remember when you made a video about cheap tools vs American made tools. You ended up saying that a $6.00 chinese wrench works and is a better bargain than a $39.00 American made tool.
It was something along those line and I left you a pretty harsh comment about it.
Well things certainly have changed since you now wear $300.00 sugarcane jeans and $140.00 Pendleton shirts. Still buying chinese tools?
I'd say it's all about how the item makes you feel. Of course a 1/2 inch wrench from china, and one made in the USA are still both 1/2 inch. They both will work. I think he is at a point in his life where functionality isn't what's #1 in his life. Not to say his $140 shirt isn't functional, but more importantly it makes him feel good. As he said, he has had that same one 20 years. It's never let him down. It's never been a question on if it will like him down. Like a good, high quality wrench. You will never question if it will break on you. He is tired of cheaping out on things. He can afford to do that. I don't think that's to diss on your $15 wranglers, or my $6 discount rack basketball shorts. It's about living within my means. After all, is a $1000 samsung phone not just as functional as a $50 smartphone from a low-end manufacturer? It's a luxury. It makes you feel good to use, and it gives you piece of mind knowing it won't just fail on you. I hope you understand what I mean by all this, and dont get offended by it.
@@JohnSmith-zh3qc No offense but why are you answering for him? Are you assuming that he would say that? I understand what you are saying but I would have preferred to hear it from him. Oh, and when he made the tool video he could afford the American wrench too.
@@jamess.829 he is free to answer if he wants. I didn't say "codys says ....", I said "I'd Say it's...." As in, my opinion is this. It's no secret he has money. He could buy just about anything he wanted. Could buy all snap on. What I'm saying is, perhaps he finding now that isn't how he wants to live. Since he has the means to live otherwise. Would you not have all the nice things you wanted if you had the means to afford them? Of course you would. We all would. He can afford to live this way, and more importantly, he seems to be transitioning his life into what he has a desire for most. Like his vice video. Was it overkill? Was it over priced? Yes. Does it bring him joy though? Undoubtedly. I think he is at a point where the joy he feels is more important than the cost.
@@JohnSmith-zh3qc Look, I'm just sending him a reminder about supporting American workers after he said the chinese wrench, which doesn't last as long is easier to buy than the Whopping thirty nine dollar American wrench. Not a debate with you.
@James S. His response seems pretty inline with what wranglers response would be. Maybe you just haven't watched his channel enough, or skipped the videos/parts where he explains his decisions. But to me, this seems to be a spot on response. I don't get what the point of your first comment even is. It sounds like you're just being jealous and spiteful. You know, maybe it makes him feel good to support companies that make products that he likes. Maybe it makes him feel good to buy from and support American business, because I know it makes me feel good. Or maybe, and this may be an odd ball, maybe he has specific requirements/wants from his clothing/items. Who are you to judge on that aspect?
