    3rd I wanted our team to be bigger/more athletic (check)
    4th I wanted our team to directly reach the PO (check)
    5th I wanted our team to win a PO series (check)
    Everything from this point on is just icing on the cake for me! Can we beat the Thunder? Sure, no question. Will the world end if we loose? Hell nah! I am just happy looking at this roster knowing that we can (and most likely will) bring everyone back. Green/Lively/Hardy will be one year older with real PO experience, Washington/Gafford will have a full season with the team... in my opinion this team will be a true top contender next season. I think we can beat everyone even this year. But I do not expect it. I just hope fans do not hate on the team (and coaches) if this is as far as we go. This season was a true success after the last year. Right now, I am just happy!

      @psmejc 4 месяца назад +6

      Totally agree. After the rooster we had after last season I could not foresee such a success. Swapping pick with Oklahoma (get away Bertans contract) and picking Lively was already a masterpiece move. Mavs went into some risk and went almost all in in the meadseason (giving pick capital), but now we see that Gafford was a steal and PJ Washington is a defender Mavs needed. I also feel whatever good happens from now on it's just topping on the cake. It was for many Mavs players first PO experience, and for Luka was first time experience that he has a teammate who contributes so much on this team. He put too much pressure on his shoulders to answer that call, so he shoot not well, but Kyrie took the love from Luka and the teammates and made what was needed for the win. Such a mature guy Kyrie is, incredible. Team chemistry is giving optimism for even bigger things, but there's s gonna be no blame on the team if they don't succeed this year. Oklahoma is a running team, so this is gonna be different match up, not so physical but Mavs better to be prepared to run a lot.

    This team just need time to gel. To find their potential. Dont break this up Front office. Theres no team in the playoffs where 5 of their new players are making an impact as rotational pieces and a significant piece like a 2nd star kyrie who has just been here for a year. So pretty much 6 players are inserted into this team in jusf 1 year and we accomplish something like this. Oh yeah almost all of them were injured throughout the season so theres another argument for Luka MVP

    You know Nick, it's 100% OK to be objective and acknowledge that Kyrie Irving is the true leader of this team. Notice his impact on each teammate, his maturity throughout the series accommodating Luka the first half then turns it up every game the 2nd half, his defensive tenacity at 6'2", spirit of a champion, the way he carries himself and guides the team. It's OK to set the ego aside and acknowledge that a champion and true leader carried Luka Doncic, who has not yet won a title and is still learning to be a leader among teammates. So far it looks promising because prior to Kyrie's arrival, Doncic often threw tantrums at his teammates publicly on the court and would sit next to Cuban when taking back to back games off. Kyrie's impact on Luka and this team is bigger than what you give him credit for.

    Luka's on/off stats in the series were still crazy good. Luka definitely makes life easier for Kyrie simply by being out there with his gravity. Not that Kyrie necessarily needs Luka, but it makes it easier for Kyrie to be the best version of himself more often. And obviously having Kyrie also makes life easier and better for Luka.

    It just dawned on me that THIS MAVS IS SPECIAL!!!! EVERYONE should be a fan of this team cause they are doing things the right way. And it all starts with my dude, Lively!!! I feel like his mother is like a guardian angel on this team. I know it's hard to lose your mom but I just feel like his loss, and his mother's spirit, REALLY brought this team together.
    And now he's just out there ballin in the NBA playoffs as a 20 year old rookie. He's fighting for the only family he's got left....his teammates. Cause you GD know that Kyrie was out there being Unc Drew to him. Both Duke Blue Devils, both came out after the freshman season, these 2 have some ish in common. So I would bet every dollar I've ever made or will make that Kyrie was there for him. The same with Tyson Chandler & the coaches, same for his big man Gafford, same for the rest of his teammates.
    The Mavs are a TIGHT squad. I doubt we've EVER seen Kyrie THIS happy & comfortable before. I've NEVER seen Luka this happy in the NBA before & he's a pretty happy dude on the court. Exum has gotta be insanely happy to be back in the NBA and on a playoff roster. DJJ is out there happy as hell to be getting some playoff shine after EVERYONE passed on him...the dude was like THE LAST free agent signed to a 1 year vet minimum. Gafford & PJ are happy as hell too. PJ out there standin on bidness for his hometown team. Gafford is close to home too and out of NBA jail known as the Wizards.
    The Mavs is what basketball is about!!! It's team over everyone. It's picking up when your teammate is down (on the court or off it). And when you got a LOCKED IN team out there for one another.....EVERYONE should be a fan of the Mavs. They're doing it right.

    • @jimmygreer2140
      @jimmygreer2140 4 месяца назад

      And to further illustrate how much of a TEAM the Mavs are....Don't you honestly believe that the Mavs have a chance to keep DJJ? I mean, he's out there starting to earn a HUGE bag. A bag so big that I couldn't blame him for taking. The dude has clearly earned it with career highs in almost everything & proving what a menace he can be on defense.
      But even though the Mavs won't be able to match his bag, don't you believe DJJ could stay around in Big D? To play a big role on a team with a NICE Championship Window wide open for them? DJJ is like the ONLY dude not signed through to next season.
      And hell, maybe if Dallas can FINALLY trade THJ or something they might be able to give DJJ his bag.
      But the fact that I don't think it's THAT insane to see DJJ return for less says EVERYTHING about the Culture that has been built here. Could it be possible that Kidd (and Nico) have made that possible ALREADY?? Could Kidd be the next Popavich, Jackson, Spolestra and have built a culture like them?

    Kyrie was clearly the best player this series, why bring up Kyrie past once again after you’ve done it so many times. Kyrie clearly picked up in every area that Luka was lacking in for the entire series. Great leadership by Kyrie and even encouraging Luka when he wasn’t playing well. The little shots that nick tried to throw at Kyrie is disgraceful what bring up the bad just to say how good he played. It’s like a parent constantly reminding a child how bad they failed instead of giving encouragement. KYRIE WAS BY FAR THE BEST PLAYER ON THE MAVS FOR THIS SERIES Luka going to get his numbers but he going to shoot enough to get those numbers even if he has to shoot 30 times the efficiency at who kyrie was scoring this while allowing Luka to find his rhythm is a really under appreciated skill of Kyrie

    First of all I want to say that Kyrie is the most valuable player in this series against the Clipper by far and secondly I am a fan of Luka but someone has to tell him that he should shoot less than three points, I don't know if in this series He has had the worst three-point shooting percentage in history but it is surely one of the worst this cannot be allowed anymore and they should also tell him that he must stop arguing the entire game with the referees. It is even unpleasant to see him with that behavior.

    I want to give Kidd his flowers. Ty Lue couldn't stop talking about the job Kidd did. I'm not quite ready to apologize for wanting him fired. Some of the things he was doing during that 5 of 6 losing streak & the stuff he did in Game 4 still frighten the ish outta me. I just CAN'T abide from him going away from a Gafford/Lively, PJ/Maxi lineup. Any combination of those players is THE BEST LINEUP that Dallas has. PJ/Maxi can guard out on the perimeter on ANYONE's 3, 4 or even 5 at times. But Gafford/Lively protect that paint for when ONE of the perimeter guys DOES get through.
    But I want to give Kidd, AND NICOOOOOO, their flowers. I believe they may have just built a CULTURE in Dallas. As much as I love Coach Rick, he never built a culture. VERY FEW GM/Coach actually can build a culture. Jackson with what's his face from Chicago or Jerry West with the Lakers built a culture. Popavich built a culture. Spolestra & Riley built one.
    But Dallas looks like it's on the cusp of having a culture. I swear that Kyrie has become almost Phil Jackson Zen-like. Luka is arguably the best player on the planet. They got some special Big Men. They got really good defenders who are at least decent on offense. And almost EVERYONE is signed through next season. DJJ is the only one & I'm sure Nico can work some magic to afford the bag he's about to earn.
    I know Slightly keeps making jokes about LeBron to Dallas. But he's REALLY got a point. Why WOULDN'T you want to go to Dallas? Have a REAL GOOD chance at playing with some awesome dudes & straight up ballers and winning a few rings. Why wouldn't a player want that? Not to mention, new owners with that VEGAS money who probably don't care too much about luxury taxes if it means several championships.
    But a LOT of it is riding on THESE playoffs. If they can somehow win it all....I would say a culture has been built in Dallas. We might even have a Lakers/Celtics type of rivalry but within the same state. Dallas vs San Wem-tone could become heated. The Legend of Pop vs Nico/Kidd/Luka/Lively dynasty. I just hope there's a few other teams that can carry on their culture. Maybe Steve Kerr can prove he's more than "right place, right time"? Maybe Spolestra can re-spark his culture if Playoff Jimmy could stay healthy? And boy, if we do get some Mavs/Heat Finals there could even be a Gulf Coast to Coast rivalry that would be equal to the Coast to Coast LA/Boston one.
