You are one of the main people who got me interested in the hobby in the first place, now i have such an unweildy collection. Thank you for making these amazing videos!
Thanks for covering my favorite game - great video. I've taught this one so many times I've discovered folks tend to pick it up a little quicker if I cover the basics first. I show them their options on their turn - take gold/districts then build a district - next turn. Then I introduce the characters after this makes sense.
This has to be my favorite game with "social deduction" elements. A friend introduced me to the older version. The new art looks so spiffy! Might need to buy my own copy.
Rodeny thanks a lot for this. I just got this game recently to introduce to my colleagues for a bigger player count game night. Super clean tutorial. This channel never fails. ❤
I've watched this and played the game with friends once. After rewatching it I see couple of things we have missed, but definitely play more :D Thanks for your quick explanation!
Great How To video. Its clear, doesn't do any extra nonsense to sell the video and after it's done I have a clear understanding of how to set up and play the game. Subscribed after watching!
There is a lot of strategy in this game, even though it is relatively easy to learn! Thanks for sharing, Rodney! We love being introduced to games through your videos!
i dont know what about that was easy to learn. the video contained more information than a whole year of mathematics at school. i have no idea how i could ever remember all that
Rodney, how can you, in good conscience, title this video "Citadels - How To Play" if you've left out the most important instruction one can give to a new Citadels player? At NO POINT in this entire 14 minute video did you instruct the viewer not to eat the coins even though they clearly resemble delicious butterscotch candies.
@@acosarismo I think playing with 3 or two players is way better. The assassination is not as harshly. Having two character gets a whole other level of strategic deepht and fun.
That’s a neat box you have there. Mine is quite bigger, for no particular reason - well, the rulebook is big and fits exactly, but it looks like it can be redesigned to be smaller.
Shouldn't you deal the face up cards first and then the face down? That way if the King comes in the face up cards and you return it, it might still come in the face down card. Otherwise cards like Assassin or the Robber will know for sure that someone will be dealt the King. I have only played the original and I can't remember the rules but that's the way I play the game.
Sorry, your questions don't really give me a lot to go by, so I'm having to make some guesses as to what you mean. Are you asking "Does the crown marker change hands, or move, if the King card is face down"?" if so, than no. With your second question, are you asking because they were earlier in the turn order? Either way, yes, they can be targeted. You're not really targeting the role, you're targeting "the player". Hope that helps.
@@WatchItPlayed I see, do apologize us for pressuring you to make a video about game that you didnt planned. The point is 'do what you love' hence makes one life happier :). About Brazil Imperial, first time I saw it was in one of the video from this channel, the one which your friend talk about best 10 incoming 2021 new games. The game looks breathtaking I fall in love instantly, but so far all the videos reviewing, playthroughing, or even unboxing the game are none in english! (I wonder why). In my home country we have many communities scattered in all major islands. Sadly i read somewhere that this Brazil Imperial game I want only on sale in Asia in somewhere 2022, tho it already sold in America in October 21 :(. Kudos to you Rodney, I enjoyed all your tutorial, imho you are the best tutor coz you make even the most complicated and difficult game easy to learn and also your english is easy to understand by us non-english mother tongue. Looking forward to your next video, much love from 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩. P.s (still hoping that you will finally make review and playtrough about Brazil: Imperial in near future lol)
@@anggitaputri3123 I didn't feel pressured. Its a fine question - I just have to have an easy answer to give when I get this answer, as I get these kinds of questions regularly. Thanks for your interest, and kind words! Happy gaming from Canada!
I don't know if this is related to this being a new version, but I remember a rule that you can't build the same district (the same name) twice in your city. Great video as always btw. I love this game.
Thanks for the video! Do you think this game could be played by kids as old as 7? Do they need to be able to read or is it sufficient for the adults to read out loud the special abilities for them to help them decide? Cheers.
Hey there Slatanina. I tend to avoid trying to answer questions like this, as it is so dependent on the player. I know some very young kids who could play a game like this and some very old adults who would struggle. There's no one easy answer, unfortunately. Hopefully the video can give you a sense based on the people you have in mind.
@@xshadowscreamx Thanks... that's what I was looking for. There is a smaller box version of the same game but they (newer version(s)) are both the same.
I watched this even though I already own this game for 10 years! I love this game and is very fun!
Glad it's one you've enjoyed! Thanks for watching and leaving the kind comment :)

You're very welcome - have a great time playing!
This is another one I just recommended because of your video. It's easy to teach people how to play and they were looking for fun party games.
*Well, not exactly all party games, but fun games to play with a group of 6 I probably should have said.
Watched this even though I'm not interested in Citadels. It's great to see another How to Play video, and I hope you're feeling better Rodney!
I'm recovering nicely. This the video shot when it all happened, but I was moistly done it, thankfully :)
What happened?

But of course ;)

Literally about to go on a board game session with my friend, and this video came out at pretty much at the perfect time, thanks a ton!
Hey hey, so glad the timing was good - hope you had fun playing!

Thank you kindly Rex!

what an incredibly slick and informative video. thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you kindly!
So likable. Thank you, Rodney!
Thank you kindly!
I have to say I've noticed i'm drawn to a game and more inclined to purchase it when "and thats the set up" is said around the 3-4 min mark.
Some games certainly do have shorter setups than others.
god you're a fantastic bloke thanks for all the tutorials Rodney
Thank you kindly Glen.

A grave oversight indeed!
HA HA that is the FIRST thing I thought they looked like when I saw those coins! XD Fortunately I don't like butterscotch!
“These I’ll leave for you to discover on your own” 😂
I have this game and have always wanted to try it but don't have enough friends who are interested in playing it. I think it looks so up my alley.
Hope you get a chance in the future!

It's such a beautiful design of checks and balances. Playing 7 players where everyone is engaged (& crafty) is a superb gaming experience.

Very kind of you to say!
I can just tell this game is really popular. excited to play.... here from bga .this is like roles + collection.

Yes, I think they redesigned the box for this release.

Nice video. Keep it and you'll have my whole stockpile of bacon in no time.
I'm working on it!
The Dice Tower has the components emptying out. Watch It Played has the 360 box flip.
How much coins does warlord have to cost for one coin structure area? 1 coin or none?
None in that case.
The character cards remind me of Love Letter

Hi Rodney - I know it's easy to look it up yourself.... but there is no link to the BGG page of Citadels.

What happens if the King is in the face down discard pile? And can the Magician exchange hands with the thief or Assassin?
