I always look for your tutorials when I'm interested in a game especially for the rules and nuisances. Very thorough. Thank you. Question: the cards at 11:44, can you buy discounted resources from neighbors in future turns or only on the turn the cards are activated?
Hello Rodney, hoping you can answer a question please. I have been playing 7 Wonders for many years but I still find the benefits on the Wonder boards a bit ambiguous. For example The Colossus of Rhodes board A: Does a player add 2 shields after every conflict resolution? What if you haven't completed any stages on your Wonder board? Does a player only activate this benefit when completing the second stage on the Wonder board? Bev
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
i hope that you could answer me but for constructing your wonder, if u have the required material. You have to discard the card you've just took and face down place under the wonder?
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Hi! Great video. :) I have one question though. Can I buy more than one resource from my neighbour? For example if I need one wood, one glass and one clay can I buy wood and glass from one neighbour and then buy clay from the other neighbour? Or is it limited to one resource per neighbour per turn? Thanks!
For buying resources from neighbors, using your example at 8:53, if I had a card that required 2 glasses, can I pay 4 tokens to buy the one glass on player's board plus on the gray card?
Yep! But to make sure I’m answering fully, see if watching from 8:32 helps. There I cover that you can buy more than one resource from a neighbour, and which ones.
As usual great video! Just wondering is there a 2nd edition of the Edifice expansion or did just one edition get released? Is it compatible with the base 2nd edition and base 2nd edition with all other expansions?
The Edifice expansion was release with the 2nd edition, so you can think of it "as" a second edition, if you're wondering about its compatibility? The 2nd edition is not said to be compatible with the older expansions (as the publisher has made some card changes).
@@WatchItPlayed thanks for the response 👍 I am hoping to buy soon so was just wondering this. If I buy the 2nd edition and all 4 expansions, can I combine all 4 together?
A quick question. My friends and I love the game and play every other weekend. Just wondering have you played in teams combining with the Cities expansion? If so a quick tutorial is much appreciated.
Hi Rodney, when we pick a card and decided to construct the wonder stage, to fulfil the cost and resources for the stage, do we count the resources we have built previously only or do we include as well the resources on the card that we just picked?
I'm not sure I quite understand the question, but let me answer it this way, the card you pick to put facedown under your completed section of your wonder does not count towards any payments you need to make. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the interest in the different games! I talk a bit about that here: ruclips.net/video/EdtDuvIUa6A/видео.html&t=342 As for lists, or "best of" videos, that's not something I do. So do check those out if you might be interested. Thanks for asking!
I'm commenting to hopefully help someone out. The new version of the game packages 3 decks of cards into 2 cellophane packs. I am not the only person who sent my box back, thinking the game was incomplete. There are at least 20 bad reviews on Amazon where people are saying they've bought more than one box and the game was incomplete. I'm sure people are thinking, "How could anyone think not to open the packs up?" Honestly, I am not sure why I didn't verify before sending box one back. It could be because it's implied there would be three cello packs when there are three slots and slot 2 has deck 2 and slot 3 has deck 3, and both packs are uniformly packaged (not being a fat cello pack and a skinny cello pack, making it seem more plausible that two decks are in one pack.)

Hey Rodney, great explanation but I have one questions: Can i buy resources just from one or both of my neighbours on each turn if i have enough money? Greetings from Serbia. :)
When a card is placed face down to complete a stage of the Wonder, that cannot be used as a resource correct? Also, is that facedown card taken into account at the end of scoring?
1) Correct 2) Because there are so many different ways to score I don't want to say no, in case you're using an expansion (or I'm forgetting about a specific card effect that counts face down cards), but I can't think of one. Did you have an example of when you thought a face down card "would" be scored?
I have a question if I wanna build a card that needs ore and wood, and my neighbor city has a brown card it has the symbol between ore and wood (the slash between them). Can I use 4 coins to buy all these materials ( both ore and wood )
Regarding military conflict during age transition, does the loser only receive a -1 token, or the delta of loss? (i.e. 15 vs 2, resulting in -13 tokens for loser)
The loser just takes a -1 token per neighbor they lost to - so at most, -1(x2). They don't take the difference between military values. Hope that helps!
Hey Rodney, had a question for a 3-player format. Thoroughly enjoyed the game but noticed when we got to the 3rd age, there was only 26 cards distributed between the 3 of us. Thought we were missing a card, but we counted the cards under the List of Cards section that had 3+ and it also added up to 26. Is this a manufacturing error? Or is one person supposed to be down a card every time?
I’m unfortunately not home and near my copy, but when distributed correctly, you should have the same number of cards as in the previous age. Are you possibly not adding the correct number of guilds to the Age?
@@dariosimac7254If those resources are on your Marketplace and the arrows are pointing in the right direction, yes (sorry, I don't remember the Marketplace icons from memory)
What does the alpha-rainbow symbol on the Olympia wonderboard me? I can't understand the instruction "you can construct the first age card in each color for free'. What if we are already in the second Age? We won't be coming across any first age cards, so I don't know what this effect means. Can you explain with an example?
Once you've constructed that wonder stage - until the end of the game you don't have to pay the resource cost of a card if you don't have any cards of that color currently in play.
Leaders is very easy to add after a few plays of base game. It just adds one more draft round, where you draft a leader for each age. I really like it. It enables some cool strategies, but it does not really make it that much complicated.
Did i miss or he did not explain that when you sell a card you get 2 coin plus 1 for every yellow card you own?Or am i mistaken and there is no such rule?
@@xxmd_gamesxx3549 Then the question is... was it worth picking. Sure, it can be useful to just pick and sell, if the card is crucial for your opponent.

The prior edition included two player rules, but the current one doesn't. They have a 7 Wonders Duel game that is meant to cater to two player games specifically.
About resources buying...the rulebook says: " you can buy resources only from gray and brown cards." But in video he is showing opposite. I think that's incorrect -- buying starting resources from the wonder tablet.
Hi Ben, I am confident the video is correct, but I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, or are saying is the error. You mention I'm saying the opposite of "you can buy resources only from gray and brown cards". In the video do I say you CAN'T buy resources only from gray and brown cards? That would be the opposite, and I'm pretty sure the video doesn't say that. Or are you saying something else? The last part of your comment seems to be asking if you can buy the resources from a player's starting board? If so, yep, you can! From the rules: Resources you can buy from your neighbors include: • The starting resource on their Wonder board; • Resources on their Brown cards; • Resources on their Grey cards. Hope that helps! If I'm misunderstood the questions, please let me know, and I'll see if I can address your question better.
@@WatchItPlayed "you can buy resources from your neighbors wonder boards ( starting resources) " -- that's rule from 2dn redaction? Coz at 1st in rulebook they make special note -- "you CAN'T buy neighbours starting resources, only resources from neighbours grey and brown cards". So I saw two variants: 1st - that rule changed at 2nd edition 2nd - I have a wrong rules translation at my edition ( if be truly translation is really bad)
@@BENbG8Unfortunately, I think your translation is bad, because you could buy from your neighbors starting boards in the first edition as well. Glad to be able to help clear this up for you.
Does you copy have a different cover? They had 2 player rules for the previous edition, but dropped them for this edition (I'm guessing because they now have 7 Wonders Duel which is designed specifically for a 2 player experience).

Leaders is very easy to add after a few plays of base game. It just adds one more draft round, where you draft a leader for each age. I really like it. It enables some cool strategies, but it does not really make it that much complicated.
What's the difference between second edition and the first?
Mostly some cosmetic changes, but a couple cards were changed as well.
Do commercial building benefits stack?
Yes.
Did i miss or he did not explain that when you sell a card you get 2 coin plus 1 for every yellow card you own?Or am i mistaken and there is no such rule?
That isn't a rule - you might be thinking of the rules for 7 Wonders Duel, which is a different game.
@WatchItPlayed Thank you.
16:36 that the most unclear symbol of the game the description is really inaccurate can somebody explain it

Any chance of getting How to Play of Hoplomachus Victorum?
Thanks for the interest!
This reminds me a lot of Civilization
I have a question. Can you keep a card you get from a turn even if you can’t construct it? And if so where where do you put it?
With the card you pick, you must either construct it, sell it, or use it to build a stage of your wonder.
@@WatchItPlayed so you must sell it if you can’t do anything with it?
@@xxmd_gamesxx3549 Exactly, you've got it!
@@xxmd_gamesxx3549 Then the question is... was it worth picking. Sure, it can be useful to just pick and sell, if the card is crucial for your opponent.
Damn, the 2nd edition looks so much better
Thanks for checking out the video!
Me and my brother have been baffled for hours reading manual
I hope this helps!
@@WatchItPlayed we played it now with AI as 3rd and 4th took us 1.2h and I won 76 points he had 66 it was all down to me having a barracks winning the fight thanks for the great game explanation. Any other game suggestion something similar but a different take??
@@krcarpentry2610 I avoid giving personal recommendations (because what one gamer likes can be wildly different than another), but hopefully you'll find some other titles on here you might enjoy!

What is the different between 1st and 2nd edtions?
This thread might be able to help: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2845424/1st-vs-2nd-edition
@@WatchItPlayed thanks
I don't recall, but Google might be able to help there.
Rodney "use a suitable replacement" Smith.
Can it be played with only 2 players?
The prior edition included two player rules, but the current one doesn't. They have a 7 Wonders Duel game that is meant to cater to two player games specifically.
could you do a watch it played for the root based game?
Thanks for the interest! I talk a bit about that here: ruclips.net/video/EdtDuvIUa6A/видео.html&t=342
Here before the inevitable reupload (Seriously, why does that keep happening?)
It's not that often is it?
From the rules:
Resources you can buy from your neighbors include:
• The starting resource on their Wonder board;
• Resources on their Brown cards;
• Resources on their Grey cards.
So I saw two variants:
1st - that rule changed at 2nd edition
2nd - I have a wrong rules translation at my edition ( if be truly translation is really bad)
@@BENbG8Unfortunately, I think your translation is bad, because you could buy from your neighbors starting boards in the first edition as well. Glad to be able to help clear this up for you.
@@WatchItPlayed thanks 👍
Oh Chaz... You'll do better next time
Will he?
@@WatchItPlayed nah...good point
Rodney, fess up: who is 'C' on the score sheet?
That I'll leave for you to discover on your own :)
Hmm one question : If my construction costs 2 woods, and my neighboring city can produce 1 wood only. Can I pay him 4 coins to use 2 woods ?
Nope, you can only buy each of a neighbors resources once, per turn.
@@WatchItPlayed I see..thanks a ton. Thanks to your channel I have found 2 new favorite games :Catan and 7 Wonders,have a nice day🌅
Tell us the truth? How many takes did it take for you to catch the box in the correct direction?
Are you suggesting I don't always catch the boxes the first time, every time? *gasp*
3 to 7 players? Why is my one 2 to 7 players?
Does you copy have a different cover? They had 2 player rules for the previous edition, but dropped them for this edition (I'm guessing because they now have 7 Wonders Duel which is designed specifically for a 2 player experience).
@Watch It Played yes cover is slightly different, probably an older one but only brought it yesterday, so I'm not sure. Thanks for the Response!
first! let's goo
