    We have a 1 story house with a big window right next to the front door. Anyone at the door can look right in. We removed our old curtains and added the same film to the bottom half. Awesome!

    I'm going to do this for my bathroom my bathroom window is above my bath and my shower is in my bath since its such a cramped space (meaning my toilet is next to the head of my bath and my sink is at the foot of the bath) I find my curtains were always damp and were the playground for mould I would use blinds but again playground for mould and I use my window sill to hold my soaps and shampoos ect because there isn't anywhere else to put them so honestly this would be the best solution.

    Are you obscured at night when your light is on?

  • @jing1771
    @jing1771 4 года назад +3

    It looks great :) Can people see inside when the light is on and it’s dark outside? Also, does it make the bathroom darker a little because it’s blocking the light? I’m debating about purchasing this product

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  4 года назад +5

      I picked it specifically so it wouldn't diminish the light the way a tinted film would. I would say it diffuses the light, so it spreads all over the room. I have it in my upstairs bedroom and bath, and they both get lots of great light now (enough to keep my houseplants very happy). So IMO not much darkening. And when it's dark outside and the light is on, it depends on how close to the window you are as to whether you can make out shapes a little, or not at all. It definitely blurs but if you're right up close to the window with bright light shining on you, you can still make out shapes to some degree. I have a lot more privacy and can walk around my house between closet, bathroom, bedroom without fretting if the neighbors can see everything. Hope that helps!

    Hi it is interesting watching you putting the film on your window, but you have not show or explain which side of the film goes on the window, because it comes in 2 parts together, so can you please explain thank you.

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  3 года назад +1

      There's film and then there's the papery-plastic backing, which gets discarded. The film has a sort of sticky side and that goes on the window with the spray. It should be fairly straightforward when you have the actual film in front of you and begin peeling away the backing.

    I live in a neighborhood where every neighbor decides to hire non stop labors every other season. Affects my stress levels during my long work vacations. I work at a college so I get plenty of time off. The only way to keep myself sane is to by the privacy film I can stop seeing work equipment work vehicles and outdoor workers daily. When I get vacation or my days off I feel like I have a slight little bit of agoraphobia where I don't even want to be in my own back yard.

    With the bathroom light on and it being dark outside how much can you see looking in?

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  Год назад +1

      It depends on how close the person inside the bathroom is to the window. It blurs like a photo filter. If you’re up super close & in the nude, someone could still see enough shape to know what they’re looking at. But from further away, shape is much harder to distinguish.

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  2 года назад

      It’s just a frosted glass effect, so it’s going to have some visibility, as in shape and color. Blurred for sure but still some visibility. Like how you’d normally expect frosted glass to look if you’ve ever seen a light fixture that uses it. This bathroom window faces the street, so I also hung some sheer curtains to add more blur at night. I’m happy with the combo!

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  3 года назад

      You'll still see shape outlines (blurred), and it depends on how close the background light is to the window and how close the person is to the window itself. I'm comfortable in my bathroom but I also hung sheers for nighttime use just in case since my bathroom window faces the entire neighborhood.

      @@UglyDucklingHouse ok because I bought some crystal film and mirror because they don’t let cats in my apartment. So I was wondering if I can install it out the window to they don’t see nothing

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  2 года назад

      Gotcha, fyi, all of the mirror films I’ve seen will show everything at night when the lights are on, not just an outline. These films are all designed to let light through, so when backlit (like at night with lights on in the house instead of sunlight outside), they will work sort of opposite the way they do in the day. If you’ve ever seen a cop show with a fake mirror and they turn the lights on behind it in the hidden room, that’s the same concept. This frosted film obscures shapes quite a bit but even frosted glass itself is going to have some light/shape visible by design. Hope that helps and you find a good solution with the cats!

  • @thegab_7

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  Год назад +1

      It depends on day or night. During the day it was pretty difficult to see through, but at night because it would be backlit from interior lights, it’s easier to see through.

    • @UglyDucklingHouse

      Hmm, hard to say. It's really best to get all the air bubbles out before it dries. If he was a pro, maybe he's had more experience with it, but the air bubbles I had remained after drying. There were some teeny tiny air bubbles I didn't get out because of irregularities on the window and those bubbles remained.

    With this film no one can see in night or day?

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  3 года назад

      It's not nighttime reflective. It's the same filtered look on the outside. That means when you have a light on at night, you can see shapes moving around but not clearly. The amount of detail you can see is related to how close you're standing to the actual window. The purpose is to blur and filter light. Which looks great during the day and because I'm extra paranoid at night, I have a sheer curtain hanging in front of it to filter the light even more. For full blocking, you'd need something like a mirrored film, but that also adds a darker tint to the window and I didn't want that.

    • @UglyDucklingHouse
      @UglyDucklingHouse  4 года назад +2

      Yes, to some degree. I have a sheer curtain in my bathroom so that the silhouette is obscured enough not to matter. The light is shining in your bathroom at night, not from the outside. That puts light behind the filter instead of in front of it. The ones that have a mirror effect also fail in nighttime scenarios for the same reason. A sheer curtain wouldn't have been enough on its own to hide my body to my comfort level, but the combination film + sheer curtain worked while still allowing for max light.
