Superb. No saxophone player in the world could have done that solo the way Bradford played with Sting on Roxanne. It actually makes me cry every note perfect. every feel is perfect. He didn't plan that Bradford's soul. His tone this feel everything I've never heard a soprano saxophone with that sound. It's a gift. God-given. I wish God had given me that type of talent to play my soprano with the feel and perfection of Bradford Marsalis. Thank you Bradford❤🙏
This is the great example of true mastery of accompaniment, knowing when to play and what to play so that it enhances the song without overshadowing performer
Playing over Stings voice?. i wouldn't compete with perfection , although the call and answer is beautiful, the crowd instantly reacts, i hear beautiful understated swells and harmonies, all personal taste .
Just a great performance. Sting is always awesome, and Branford was great. I just saw his brother Wynton a couple months ago (awesome guy, completely dedicated to true music and not selling out). Probably my favorite performance of Roxanne that I've heard yet.
One of the funniest bits anybody has ever done is when Eddie Murphy could be heard singing Roxanne from his jail cell. Just destroyed me to tears. I'll never forget it, it'll never leave my mind, maybe even when I die.
Branford is a rarity! Most people who have super strong opinions about what’s good music and what’s not good music typically aren’t as special as they think they are. Not Branford!…..Not Branford.
Beautiful!!! But my favorite still performed by the Police, (meant to be Rock /power mixed with emotions:). Moon on Bourbon Street played by Branford (Blue Turtles) and Sting voice was amazing!!
eine klampfe, eine stimme, ein sax. jede menge impliziter time, ein paar angesägte akkorde, das original immer im hinterkopf, frei im raum schwebend und dennoch präzise und transparent... einfach genießen...
@MattieSongbird but i agree with everything you are saying!! Unfortunately it is a very common thing (at least from my experience) to find jazz musicians that think they can play any style, but can't play rock music (for example). And it's because they think rock music is "easy" to play and there for they don't have to work on it. Any one with an ear could hear the difference from a rock player to a jazz player. But there ARE jazz musicians that are also great at rock music!! it's just rare
I somewhere heard that Kenny G was a really great jazz musician before he decided to go commercial. But we will probably never know how good he could have become if he had continued playing that kind of music.
is it just me? when branford takes the key change into major at the last, i swear sting loses the guitar rhythm completely, branford rescues him by marking the tempo, but sting's voice is all he's got left under conscious control... sounds like i'm criticizing, but honestly, if they're getting that deep into it with each other on stage, that is pure bravery, and although it comes out a bit smudgy, it sounds epic and authentic and of that moment
You're right. He frequently held it. But holding a knife doesn't make me a chef or a hitman, just as holding an instrument doesn't make me good at playing it.
@MattieSongbird If a person is equally versed in all genres and styles of playing, calling them a "Jazz Musician" would be miss leading. A "Jazz Musician" is obviously someone who specializes in Jazz, and SOME TIMES, I find they look down on other genres of music as "lesser" or "easier". I agree that what makes a good musician is loving music in all it's colors, shapes and sizes, but still there is a tendency to favor one genre over another. But that is what makes the world of so diverse.
Brilliant petformance .Masterful soprano playing from Branford .He knows exactly when to burn and never overplays during vocals.
Very impressive. love Branford and Sting here
I love Branford, Sting knows how to find good musicians Marsalis, Miller et cetera...

I can't get over Branford's take on this song. It always amazes me when a musician takes a song and truly makes it his own. FANTASTIC!
Branford's accompaniment on this song is simply amazing. The solo is so good it hurts. Fantastic performance.
Branford's definately one of the best soprano players around, beautiful sound, amazing technique
Branford here amply demonstrates his prowess. His playing is sympathetic, respectful yet authoritive - just wonderful.
One of the best things ever recorded. PERIOD.
Sting and Marsalis are magical
best version ever
Branford Marsalis is a musical genius. I LOVE soprano. You can fly, like Charlie Bird Parker.
A classic live in a new arrangemet with Branford Marsalis so good so jazzy!
Sting with Marsalis...awesome!
I started learning saxophone after hearing Branford Marsalis on this piece.
Gorgeous velvety sax tone.
They don't make good music like this one ! Branford Killer solo !!
Preparati ed ispirati....
Un piacere da vedere ed ascoltare.
One of many Branford masterclasses
Perhaps the greatest duet ever recorded in the history of human music :-O
This is the great example of true mastery of accompaniment, knowing when to play and what to play so that it enhances the song without overshadowing performer
I have listened to many song (roxanne) performed by Sting, but this version seem to me the best, the most beautiful, magnificent.
That's because Branford Marsalis's contribution to this verson
this is a brilliant version. It's one of my favourite :)
How cool it is to see the "click" when two great musicians who used to play with each other meet again after a long time. It's a pure enjoyment.
Brandford totally kills it..🔝
Playing over Stings voice?. i wouldn't compete with perfection , although the call and answer is beautiful, the crowd instantly reacts, i hear beautiful understated swells and harmonies, all personal taste .
Riesce ad emozionarmi in qualsiasi versione lui la canti. Grande!
Anti stress is marsalis on the sax :)
Just a great performance. Sting is always awesome, and Branford was great. I just saw his brother Wynton a couple months ago (awesome guy, completely dedicated to true music and not selling out). Probably my favorite performance of Roxanne that I've heard yet.
Superlativi Fantastici

the best version of Roxanne!! just in my opinion!!!!!
The Music playing in Paradise...
I play this verbatim, nuances included, it never fails to be a show stopper.
I know many people have commented on Branfords playing on this song but MAN!! his playing is AMAZING!! The Tone!!
Appreciate the upload
The lesson here: say a lot with a little. Sax players (and all other musicians) take note
Are you comparing the sax to the piano?
@@pardist it’s all music, right?
@@musicmanson yes but piano is a bit harder to relate to.
Isso que é um belo som de sax soprano. Parabéns!!!
Branford Marsalis e Sting! Fantástico!
I think this is one of the best examples of 2 styles coming together in an 'amazing grace' way!
the solo and ending are magic moments
Brilliant. Brilliant.
Da pelle d’oca
Branford is a rarity! Most people who have super strong opinions about what’s good music and what’s not good music typically aren’t as special as they think they are. Not Branford!…..Not Branford.

Beautiful!!! But my favorite still performed by the Police, (meant to be Rock /power mixed with emotions:).

BRIVIDI!!
wow - it's crazy :-)
If you are interested in an amazing analisys of what Bradfordis doing, go check Bob?s Reynolds analysis of this performance.
Beautiful
el buen gusto musical en su máxima expresión!
Do not ewen try to comment on Bradfurds background. He is the jazz-history with Bird-Miles-Lester Young-Sonny Rollins-Trane.
Branford freaking Marsalis! Are you kidding me?
Awesome !!!
@MattieSongbird but i agree with everything you are saying!!

As a perfect street artist 's performance
Sting, Marsalis & Co. Ltd.
❤
Wow...
is it just me? when branford takes the key change into major at the last, i swear sting loses the guitar rhythm completely, branford rescues him by marking the tempo, but sting's voice is all he's got left under conscious control...

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

Who’s here after Bob Reynolds’ video?
yes sir
🙋🏻
thats the branford sax playing that the only woman I ever loved (racheal moreno) introduced me to smooth jazz sound.
Branford isnt a Smooth Jazz Musician...
amen hermano
awsome
Muy bueno
Sting is a genius!
Anyone know of any other minimalistic arrangements like this of other songs on RUclips?
bellissima versione. quasi quasi sopporto il suo narcisismo.
You're right. He frequently held it. But holding a knife doesn't make me a chef or a hitman, just as holding an instrument doesn't make me good at playing it.

Sting's stupidly high individual voice and Branford's killing soprano playing = multiple eargasm.
that soprano, too...
You are absolutely right, he is actually a trombonist. Oh wait, he is not even a wind instrument artist, He is probably a drummer. (sarcasm)
