@AveryMacQuarrie-km8or I feel like there are a lot of people who would rather just run a server with their friends. I'm curious as to how they plan on running their official servers
I feel like they should of gone more in a valheim route and avoided server based play entirely. Maybe with some type of matchmaking arena for people to do pvp if they want.
@@NicromeShooter I kind of agree. Official online servers took me by surprise in the video I made covering their FAQ. 32 player cap seems small and official online servers is a risky move even with larger server caps. Rust and ark official servers for example
Yeah very small hard to do much with. Not to mention people are gonna be practilly unable to play on the same server whenever they want for awhile and arks case I think the only reason people put up with that type of gameplay was because of it really being the only game to tame dinosaurs in such an interactive manner. I even got grappled by it and just wished they made an open world singleplayer game with similar features and a story.@@FringePatriotGaming As why Atlas failed so hard cause it's gimmick didn't work at all for server based play.
Gonna be honest when I first saw this game I thought it was just a meme and was gonna be a flop but the more I hear about it the I'm actually invested in playing it. Will definitely have to try it out
I think there is a good chance this turns into a banger. Nda was lifted two days ago for people in pocketpairs creator program. I was too lazy to even apply but have been avoiding those videos so I still don't know exactly what the game looks or plays like but I hopefully they nailed it. 2 days till public launch
Definitely going with non official server hosted by me, you should be able to host that on your own pc setting your own rules and choosing which mods to run with your friends. Exactly how it's meant to be played.
Yeah up to 3 of your friends you can invite each other between each of your servers. From what I've heard the "offline" server you host has difficulty sliders. You can still invite up to 3 people to that server and "turn it online"
@@FringePatriotGaming you just gotta keep your xbox running as the host ..so a bit of a pain trying to play with a few friends unless the host is an absolute homie and stays logged in infinitely cause when the host logs out everybody gets the boot..would be great if you could have a server between 2 to 5 people that could just log in to a shared custom world whenever they please, as if everbody is the "host"
@DjDoxastic yeah you could host one via a third party but that's on pc. Eventually you should be able to host a server via a third party but it would cost. I think it's like 8 bucks a month for a 4 person server to be hosted
Do the offline servers have peer to peer coop with friends? I thought the devs said that 1-4 coop was just direct invite and then 4-32 required either playing on an official server or renting your own private server, if I just wanted to play coop with 1-2 friends am I going to be forced into the crowded dedicated ones?
Yes you can co op with up to 3 other people, 4 including yourself on your server and their servers I believe via invite. I should have mentioned those but wasn't comparing that to anything so I didn't but you are right you can play with some friends via invite

@key.2358 if it's your world you invited them to no they would get booted. If your bud invited you to their world they could play when you left
Honestly talking about wars between guilds and clans has me excited, I'm probably just going to be playing on offline servers with friends but I'll be looking forward to the first videos of full on brawls large groups of players.
it is going to be interesting to see how the official servers play out that is for sure, especially when pvp launches. pvp not being there at launch almost adds anticipation to the battles that are coming
i mean can you even really have clan wars if theres 32 players max on a server and guilds are 20 people max? idk.
I mean the game is new so I see the map being way bigger at one point being able to hold more then 32 people

If they had like 100 server player count this game would be considered an mmo and it feels like one. I hope they increase the server cap down the road.
My server last night was not spawning wild pals. Then all the servers seemed to shut down idk if they could handle 100 people in a server. Also idk why wild pals weren't spawning in mine
They've been having the same issues with the new Ark, honestly just might be nitrados horrible servers, hopefully they open it up to other server hosts
I think the map is too small to do that.
It does NOT allow offline play. I just bought the game about 2 hours ago, and unless I keep the Xbox connected. It closes the game out, and won't allow any play.
I've heard several Xbox users with this problem I'm assuming it's a bug because I can play offline using steam. I'll let you know if anything about that being a bug comes out

@jamesgolden7317 seems a lot of Xbox users are experiencing this I'm assuming it's a bug. Someone said they are playing on Xbox offline by skipping the error messages. Like I'm assuming hitting the b button on them but I don't know exactly what you or thy are looking at. He said he was on Xbox offline by doing that though lemme know if you happen to get it
@FringePatriotGaming I click B after the error pops up, and it still won't let it start. I was also told that if I got the $1 game pass thing. It'll allow me to set my game to offline, and it'll play. It didn't work so far.

Legendaries are on a cooldown after being caught, no way to get the legendary u want on an online server at launch.
Online servers gonna be wild that's for sure. I'm wondering if spawn rates or anything will be changed to accommodate
for me I like the server been alive with lots of ppl running around and exploring
of course the first 2 weeks will be flooded with lots of toxic players but after that it'll be an awesome game to chill and talk to others

I've run into the same situation, the console is designated as my home console, and it just tells me to connect to the network in order to play.🤔
Hopefully its just a issue that can be fixed because if your wifi were to go down fora bit you can still play it normally hopefully it gets fixed with an update would like to be play instead of going online every single time offline would be nice i mean it can be played offline as i heard it can but nope that is not working @@MySplatterhouse
If you downloaded it from GamePass instead of purchasing the game, that could be the problem.
Hosted servers are really only for communities/guilds/friends, otherwise you should really just play official servers or on your own. Otherwise what really is the point.

Yes I believe at a rental cost though. Yes and it seems they will have tools to do so. They being pocketpair. I'm not 100% sure though

I always hated pvp in survival games. I don't get to play much so having another person come in and destroy what I've worked on never sat well.
I'm looking forward to this one because it seems more of a base builder exploration type game. And not too heavy on survival like ark was. Having pets do most of the actual work while I manage it is more my style, but it's still more fun with friends.
@Jake-ky4yj you should be able to host a server for up to 32 people that is private. It just probably has a rental fee but im not entirely sure
I tried online servers first but there are only few pals on starting areas due to the fact that so much people are farming them
People farming them and one a palbox goes down it stops all spawns in that palboxes area. Also the server I was on was bugged for a day and pals weren't spawning anywhere. Then the next day my progress was wiped. Not the server just my progress lol so I went to my own "offline" server
I'm confused at how things like hunting alpha pals would work with large servers or multi-player. I would think there would be a massive issue with griefing and frustration with the respawn timers, especially if the game crashing resets the timer to where some alpha pals can't respawn!
Yeah if someone or a group of people are farming the alphas it can be hard to land one. That's not the main problem though. Official servers are dead until there's an anti cheat
My friend is hosting the server I'm playing on. The bugs in the game and lack of optimization causes a lot of crashes. There's also problems with how the game handles what happens when other people are playing when you're not on. I always come back to my pals all depressed and weakened since the AI bugs out when you're not there.
On online or official servers the server is constantly running and official servers have the difficulty cranked a bit. From what I understand when you log off your pals keep working and if they don't have everything they need to stay happy they will all get sick. Even on my offline server if I have everything my pals need and I run em while I afk for awhile they all get sick. I think they over do it on official servers because of the rule set. Idk about the one you are playing on because it's being hosted the rules might be easier or even harder idk
@@FringePatriotGaming Our server settings are pretty close to solo normal rates. Pals will also be moved above your palbox and get stuck when you're not logged in but other people are, so they can't reach food boxes. Self sustainable bases will not work properly if youre not logged on. I've noticed this happen after the server crashes and gets restarted. P2P 4 player is probably a lot less frustrating and more worth it for most people unless you're playing with a large group at least for now

Im excited it reminds me of ark while everyone was in a tribe I was a caveman running around pumped with mele, health, and speed juts imagine flying around five bombing people

I agree not playing on a server makes the game boring. I love the game so far and it has been fun playing with family, but they have already stopped playing and now I'm alone and it just feels empty. I do love the grind and solo it was fun for a few hours, but then I got to around level 30 and I explored the whole map, saw most of the pals around, killed bosses, and made my base to craft everything pretty efficiently... but you miss multiplayer aspects these survival games need. That sense of sharing time spent on your base, or your pals. And without other players, the world definitely feels empty.
Yeah we need moderated public community servers but the game needs pvp first

Xbox didn't get official servers unfortunately. From what I understand they are working to have those roll out though

Idk who pocketpair is using to host their servers. I think for ones you want to host you should have a choice in which 3rd party server host you want to use
Last I checked the discord bucky said they haven't given any server code t any 3rd parties yet so be careful. But that could have changed by now

This game is amazing. I would give it a shot for sure.
I play on a hosted server... its awful. The ping is stuck at 270-240. You can't use the grapple hook. You can't drop from a flying mount and pull your parachute. Climbing is iffy because the lag might throw you back over the edge.
Are you in NA connecting to China servers or something why is the ping stuck that high. Also by hosted do you mean hosted by someone you know or do you mean one of the official servers
me and my friends are looking to rent a server for ourselves so we always have a slot and not have to go through queues and know that no one is hacking/griefing
Depending on how many friends you have, you and three others can jump between your own servers. Like on your own server you can invite up to three people

They haven't released any pvp yet they don't know what direction they want to take the specifics of pvp from the last i checked
I will most likely be playing this with my family in the 4 player mode. Do we have any idea how that works? Is there a tether to the host, can you mess with the game setting, etc.
So on your pc you would boot up a world this is your offline world you can adjust the settings idk which ones for sure. You can then invite 3 other people to that map. Your family can do the same with their own maps but if they want to continue on the family map whoever started that map has to be on. It's by invite as well so you would just invite them there if I'm not mistaken
@FringePatriotGaming so kinda like minecraft. Do you know if there is a tether like ark has? An Area around the host that the invited have to stay inside?

@reaperdragon1 not a problem I always try to respond, idk if there is a tether system or how big the map is. Hopefully if there is a tether system it's a big area that you can spread out. Yes practically exactly like minecraft. Rumor is you claim land to build on official servers so idk if raiding will even be a thing. Also idk if you claim land on your own server, it might just be free build for everyone
Idk how much I'll play on big servers but if I really like it and it isn't too full of cheaters I'll check it out lol

Yeah we went over there FAQ post they made a few videos back and it was in there. So unless they were wrong with some translation error but it was petty cut and dry
Survival Servers wiki page has the current early access info about setting up a server or even renting a server from them. We can only see how that will change when the game launches.
I haven't checked in awhile but last I heard was they haven't given out server info yet to and 3rd parties but that could have changed by now

No clue but I'd imagine eventually maybe. It depends on how they decide to do pvp I bet if pvp is rustish then probably somewhat often wipes but if it's duel style I'd say not often if ever

How much like ark survival is this. I had survival games where you always start from nothing. Is this an actual game where you complete a story and events through the world ?
If there is a story it's probably not straight forward like a cod campaign but more like valheim. I'm not entirely sure on that though. World events I'm not sure of either to be honest great points
Can't necessarily play offline at least on xbox...you need a internet connection to even start the game up.

Made it.. I think most of the multi player cons you pointed out are the same for all pve survival servers.
You are an absolute legend! And yes it wasn't meant to be specific to palworld aside from the server cap problems. We don't have any first hand experience with the palworld official and all of my cons with em could possibly be addressed in some way shape or form. I may have to re compare the multi player pros and cons at a later date. After we get our hands on them
@@FringePatriotGaming I watched a video where a husband and wife were playing multiplayer and they came across a lot of issues where pals weren't in the same spot for both of them , items were visible to one player but not the other..
@@DracosMinions I've been avoiding all of the early early access stuff that's been coming out since the nda has lifted but that doesn't bode well for official servers that's for sure

Right, this video dropped before palworld did the points were meant to be generalized. If I had to remake this video today it would go like this. Pros of official server- none hackers/cheaters ruined any and all pros. All survival game official servers have cheater problems but palworlds cheater problem is next level

Biggest con for online servers .. the XP gain and egg hatching times are horrid, boss respawn timers are map wide not player bound so you'll be constantly fighting looking for a boss that hasn't been killed yet, and the biggest issue ever is frequent server wipes, take you about 50 hours to reach level 30 only to wake up one morning and the servers been wiped and you've lost all your shit . Fk that me and my mate has opened our own private one, way more fun and stable and no surprise wipes.

No I don't think they even know which way they want to take pvp yet. Rust style or duel style I don't think they have that dialed in but they are working on pvp so idk

It honestly just kinda sucks that if you want to play with friends, you need to be in an official server if you guys don’t play at the same time. Cause ur friends can’t keep their pals or bases when they join ur single player world. And that really sucks imo

you can invite your buddy into your server and he can invite you into his, up to 4 people at once, so you and three others. sorry I should have mentioned these servers but I didn't compare them so didn't think about it
You can't even build a palbox online because all official servers are full
They need ironed out a bit that's for sure. I lost two days of progress on an official server because my character got deleted so I just moved to my own offline one

They are all only pve right now pvp haas not been released yet. Online servers are still wonky though the one I was playing wiped all my characters progress. Idk what the building problems ark has so I can't speak to that
@FringePatriotGaming thanks I just bought it, tge issue with ark is that people place pillars all around an area to prevent people from building as they slowly build its annoying lol as a lot of beautiful spots are littered with greedy people who take all the land to themselves
@ghostface9171 oh right you could potentially collude with a few people to keep others out of the area but from what I understand is it's 1 palbox per guild until level 10 palbox then you get to put down a second base also at level 15 palbox you unlock a third base. It takes some time to level a palbox so I don't think it will have the same problem as ark

No they are going to be shipping the update via UPS. Expected delivery time is two weeks. Take the floppy disc you get and slap that in that ought to fix it.
Numerous players have claimed to be playing without an internet connection. You might need to download an update which obviously requires the internet. Are you on Xbox? Or steam? It could also be a bug

I'm assuming the story line is loose like valheim. No direct story but each faction leader being similar milestone wise to valheim bosses. I'm not sure though

@@FringePatriotGaming yes it shows 50 ping in menu, but it feels like playing with 300 ping. its only in palworld, all other games like rust, diablo 2, multiplayer is fine no lags. i have no idea what to do. can't fix it
@@goblinslayer3002 it's probably something in that server that is causing the lag. To be fair the games optimization isn't great but the lag you are describing seems like it's being caused by something
@@FringePatriotGaming i tested it on 5 offi EU server and 2 private server, all laggy af like playing on chinese or NA server. yes it has to be something.. maybe something with my provider, don't know.. but that can't be normal

I had like 2 days of progress deleted from an official server. The server didn't reset just my character. After that I swapped to my own offline server imma wait out the early server problems I'm thinkin
I think a big con for me on offline servers is having access to all the settings. A lot of time when I play a new game I struggle with the first step of setting up difficulty. That it kills my desire to play. Not to mention on server based games like this they give you so many other settings that you can play with to make things easier or harder. The best thing I like to see to fix this is to provide a reward for playing with default settings on easy, normal or hard and then providing rewards for harder difficulties. Like cosmetics. It also pretty apparent that games that don't have settings like these generally do better. Like souls-likes and most rogue-lites. Also Pokemon and most monster tamers I know have don't have difficulties either. Games that have fun with difficulty rewards like Dead Space 2 is really great. As playing on hard difficulties rewards you. You aren't just doing it to suffer. I think difficulty settings just heavily undermine the experience of games. As if things are too easy or hard it can be because the difficulty you set it on and it ruins the authentic experience unless you are rewarded for it. I know I'm gonna struggle with this when playing offline or with friends.
I prefer games with no difficulty settings as well like in valheim when it first came out you had access to all the commands which kind of made the game pointless if you knew them. And in palworld for example if you could just creative mode the settings that would kind of be the same thing. I don't honestly know what difficulty settings are available but if there are some I agree with you about cosmetics earned via harder playthroughs. There is nothing better than earned cosmetics
They were letting a few people play early and stream it today and I can confirm they will have easy, normal, and hard for settings. The difference between the difficulties mostly seems to be around if you drop loot or not and if your pals die or just get knocked out. A shame Xbox has no dedicated servers I have PC. And Xbox, but all my friends are on Xbox so I play it on there with them but you can’t even have more than 4 players online at once!!
Yeah but to be honest I don't know if you have seen the online servers lately but they are falling apart. At least the official ones are, all my progress got wiped on the one I was playing today
They see disconnecting like crazy and last night no wild pals were spawning on the server I was playing, it has a few things to iron out still hopefully by the time Xbox servers launch they will be smooth as butter

Full loot as well? With raiding ark/rust style? Idk I'm up in the air as to if that would work. Flying pals would be the goto for everything and their cool downs are crazy when you fly em. Some things would have to be tweaked for sure
Griefing by blocking an area is childs play wait for them to box in spawn points and with no PvP yet you can't break the wall so a single group could run a whole public server (seen this tactic on ark for certain areas not the whole map)
Hopefully they are moderating the servers at launch

They need to bring Pokemon back at it's roots though with Virtual Reality, surprised more games aren't like these or Gritty like a Civilmon with Zombies and Necromancers, Minotaurs, Beholders to capture but more survival horror Vietnam style with Infrared and other Blends.

Okay the way the servers work is your character can move to any server at anytime and pvp wont be in the game like rust if there is any it will be arena style for sure.
You can't take your base or pals between official servers I don't think

I just want to warn anyone who hasnt played ark. 1 Guild will own a whole server. Every official server will be owned by 1 specific guild. They will spawn trap you. They will use max level pals to destroy your starter base. They will extort you for pals, metal, and gold coins
If this ends up having a rust/ark style pvp that sounds about right. If it's more like dueling rather than raiding then maybe some healthy competition can form on the official servers
Offline servers FTW, friends are overrated.

This game was made for PvP. There's no a huge lore, then the important thing is improve your pals, build good bases and raid/pvp other players. I wish the game run by this way

Idk if there will end up being raiding. Also idk how pvp will end up working. I agree though monster tamers and pvp go hand and hand. This isn't turn based though so really idk what it will shake out like

The game isn't out to the public yet so i can't directly compare what the official servers are like to the what the offline ones are like but the pros and cons are really general not specific so even if we had access to online servers this video would most likely look the same. Aside from I could say yep... day 1 servers were a mess just like everywhere other games launch

Official servers have no sliders.
Solo/offline will but the official will be standard for everyone.
It makes more sense for offline servers but at least official servers will be vanilla if those work properly
